Why does addressbook not sync to server?

I'm running Mac OS X Server 3.0.2 on my iMac (Mavericks 10.9.1). All my other computers (MacBook, PC, iPhones, iPad) sync the contacts to the MacOS X-Server-Account on this iMac without problems. But when I work on this iMac, I cannot access the contacts with Mac OS X addressbook. While I can access calendar and tasks without problems.
What I tried:
- erase /Library/ApplicationSupport/AddressBook folder
- erase my OS X Server-CardDAV-Account in "InternetAccounts" and set it up newly
- erase that Account inside AddressBook-Application and set it up newly
- reset my keychain
- erased sandbox-cache of Mail
- erased Cache of AddressBook.
Nothing helped.
Any ideas welcome!

Don't know how confidential your contacts are, but if you get desperate and want a quick work around you can try syncing your contacts to either Apple iCloud or Google Contacts.  I've used this to get my addressbook across to devices that can't connect to our internal network.
If you want to figure it out with the way it should work I would try a system OS X install on an external hard drive and boot your iMac off a clean OS to see if you can get it to sync your contacts.  If it fails then it is probably an issue on the server side.

  • Why does iCloud not sync mail rules?

This seems like a no brainer. When I view my email on my Iphone, I see all my Spam, which would already be dispatched to the Junk box on my desktop, had I looked there first. Why does iCloud not sync my Mail rules, and is there a solution for this?

It is not Mac to Mac.
Why not look up iCloud support, it was never offered as anything outside iOS 5 supported devices.
Maybe if you would stop reading into things what isn't there.

  • Why does iCloud not sync to Mac's

After all the hype about icloud and its ability to sync all your apple proucts.  I just recently found that my ipad does not sync to my macbook pro automatically, why not.  This really upsets me.  Is there a fix on the horizon?  DW

  • Why does ical not sync to MobileMe?

Since Lion, iCal is syncing only the first 4-5 events after adding the MobileMe Account.
After that, the syncing whell is running endless.
    Specs are:
    MobileMe:
6 x Calendars, 5 are published and shared with other Mac Users
    Shared with other Users:
    3 x Calendars
    Abonemment:
2 x Calendars (Birthday by system and Calendar week)
    Replicate problem:
I erased the entire account from iCal and from MobileMe on the Mac as well. After that I added the Mobile Me Account and the MobileMe Account at iCal. iCal synced all events accuratley but after the creation of further 4-5 events, iCal hangs by a running wheel to sync to Mobile Me. I can create further Events but it doesn't make sense, because the events will not be synced through mobiel me for my other iOS devices like iPohne and iPad.
Events created in iOS via iPhone or iPad will be synced between those devices through MobileMe but iCal doesn't sync.
Who knows help. Remember: I did erase the entire account and set it up new: doesn't help.

    Hi All
The MobileMe senior advisor resolved my problem! Thanks so much Cxxxx!
    Here the instructions:
    1. Open Terminal and use this command to copy the Calendars folder from ~/Library to your Desktop:
    cp -r ~/Library/Calendars ~/Desktop
    2. Open Disk Utility and create a new Disk Image from the Calendars folder on your Desktop by selecting File > New > Disk Image from Folder and then choosing the Calendars folder on your Desktop.
    3. Save the new Disk Image to your Desktop as well.
    4. Double-click the Calendars.dmg to open it.
    5. In the new window that appears choose View > Show Toolbar from the Finder View menu.
    6. In the Search field on the Toolbar enter "%" (without quotation marks).
    7. Select "Filename contains %" when prompted by the Search pop-up.
    8. Make sure the Search location is set to Calendars.
    9. Then open the ICS files returned in a text editor such as BBEdit or TextEdit.
    10. Locate the SUMMARY field (that's the event name).
    11. Note the affected event name(s) in a text editor.
    12. Lookup the affected events one by one in iCal. Note the date of the events in the same document that has the name(s).
    13. Quit iCal when all the event dates are collected.
    14. Go to me.com/calendar
    15. Delete all iterations of matched events from me.com/Calendar
Once the problematic events have been deleted, you will then be able to sync to your iCal application without issue. Once syncing has been restored, you can then add back any events that you need to.
    Hope that helps!
    Life is good again

  • Why does iTunes not sync correctly?

I'm using an iPhone 4s and a ipod touch 2nd gen.  I try to sync these devices over wifi with my itunes, but for some reason it just beach balls, or it locks up enough where it won't read either of them.  The reason why it doesn't work is different everytime.  Some times it will say error (-50) which is a timeout error.  Or When trying to wifi sync the iPhone; it'll just load with the spinning sync symbol and then proceed to tell me "The software used to read the iphone wasn't installed properly, go to the summary tab in iTunes and click restore".  I have looked all over the net, and apple is reluctant to help.  I've reinstalled iTunes, and restored both iOS devices from their backups.  Anything?!

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.
    Regards

  • HT204406 I have subscribed to match on iTunes and organized my music on my Mac Book.  Why does it not appear the same way on my iPad

I would like my music to appear organized in the same way on my iPad as I have done it on my Mac Book.  (and on my iPhone as well)  Since it is in the cloud, why does it not appear the same way in all devices?

The purpose of iTunes match is to make your music library available to all of your devices anywhere. It will sync Playlists, but no other type of organization you may have made.
If you're having trouble, be sure you are logged into the same Apple ID on all devices but be sure to read this article and pay special attention to associating your devices with an Apple ID. There are important restrictions you should know about.

i just bought more icloud storage, why does it not let me backup my iPhone 5..says i need 1.4 GB of space?..I just bought 10 more in icloud.

I think you are confused. Syncing apps and music to your phone will not get store in the cloud by adding more cloud storage. If you don't have enough space to sync the music and apps, buying cloud storage won't help. If you have a 16GB phone, the phone still only has 16GB for apps and music even if you buy 10 mor GB of cloud storage.

  • Why does Mail not support read receipts?

I find it hard to believe that there is a single email application that doesn't support read receipts. For me it is a fairly basic feature I would expect any decent Mail application to have.
I am currently in the process of writing an email to a company and I want to make sure they get it - a read receipt is how I want to verify that they've had it. Why does Mail not support this?
If I am going to have to accept that Mail is not the first class application Apple keeps parading around - is there an alternative that offers this and other features I would expect to find in Microsoft Outlook (minus the calendar etc...)?

Outlook uses a Microsoft-proprietary system for "read receipts", so there may be no way Apple could implement it, or there may be licensing fees involved, or Apple may just not feel that it's worth spending the money to implement. Outlook which is designed to work primarily with an Exchange server, so it's in Microsoft's interest to support Exchange features (note that even Microsoft in their own Mac app do not support all the features theydo on Windows).
You can express your interest in this feature to Apple via their feedback pages, if you wish:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
but support for return receipts in any system other than Exchange is very unlikely, since as Matt said it is not part of the Internet email specification and hence not widely supported at all.
    Regards.

  • Why does MS not post any MD5Sum of trial downloads

Why does MS not post some sort of hashsums such as SHA1 or MD5Sums of this trials of their various server products? I downloaded Server 2012 and Server 2012/R2 and tried to install them into VMWare Workstation 10 only to become frustrated due to strange
error messages. I thought perhaps that the downloads were corrupted and went to look for MD5Sums for the downloads but gave up in frustration.
I downloaded both of these files all over again aka over 6GB of files only to discover that it made no difference! Why on earth doesn't MS post check sums for all of their large downloads rather than frustrate their end users?
There appears to be a problem with installing the x64 ISOs in VMWare workstation. I had no problem installing Server 2012 in Virtualbox

Did you try using IE to download?  That was the difference between what I use and what you use.  I know it should not make a difference, but just looking to eliminate differences.

I am sure I have tried IE and Firefox both. I can try IE and perhaps have someone outside of my location to grab this file and see what checksums they get.
    Update:
I downloaded the file yet again here via IE and got the same checksums as before
    MD4: 2abe3e1c6dfdcd8f6bdaa779baf011e3
       MD5: b391a267949518ed6bb69f908f252076
     SHA-1: 5e2ddcaecc91e80a8ce3ec7ae7838f8a3967ed7f
I then asked one friend who is on the same ISP as I am to download it and he too got the same checksums.
I then went over to another friend who is with an entirely different ISP and downloaded the file via IE and got
    MD4: ef8789166affb34aa4b525693b6161e6
    MD5: 5b5e08c490ad16b59b1d9fab0def883a
    SHA-1: 849734f37346385dac2c101e4aacba4626bb141c
Which agrees to Tim Cerling's values. I was able to install this ISO in virtualbox without any problems. I just wished the heck Microsoft would have the sens to post these values on the trial page http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2012-r2
If they had done so I would of realized that the downloaded file was corrupt rather than spend countless lost hours trying various fixes here hardware wise and downloading
    this file 6+ times.
Thanks Time Cerling for all the help in this matter without it I still would be struggling.
