Why does Adobe Reader 9.5.0 open pdf created by Excel, but not with Reader X.

We have a number of pdf's that open 100% with Adobe Reader 9.5.0, but not with Reader X.
On Reader X, the message “A Number is out of range” is shown and the image is corrupted.
The image was created using “File SaveAs PDF” from Excel (Office 2007), with “Standard” optimization.
For interest, if the same “File SaveAs PDF” from Excel (Office 2007) is used, but with “Minimum Size” optimization set, then the resulting pdf opens perfectly with both Reader 9 & X.
Distressing that a new version does not work where previous version did.

I can open pdf files in emails, but not on websites, as I was able to a couple of weeks ago. On websites I get the message, "Adobe Acrobat has crashed". I downloaded the new Adobe Reader and that didn't help. I don't have Adobe Acrobat, on Adobe Reader.

Windows 7, Google Chrome and the most recent Adobe Reader (just downloaded the same day). The problem is with Google Chrome, as Fire Fox works fine. I tried enabling and disabling what would read pdf files in Chrome plugins and found that the only thing that worked was to disable adobe reader and enable chrome reader, which is the opposite of what was reccomended in answer to other adobe forum questions that were similar to mine.

HT4628 Why does internet connection on my Time Capsule cut out (on main but not guest network)?

Hi - I just got a time capsule 802.11n to use with my Macbook (OSX 10.6.8).
My wireless connectivity on my main (but not guest) network cuts out EVERY FRICKEN DAY multiple times. The internet phone connection + guest network still work, so the internet connection is there -- something with the main network is going wrong.
When I reset the time capsule (remove plug and plug back in), it works fine again.
Can anyone recommend a solution so this connectivity problem stops? Never had any issues with my Netgear wireless router, so at the moment, I'm really disappointed in this Apple product. Hopefully there is a setting I can switch to fix this (or something else simple one of you smart people out there can recommend)

In any event, if your OS X version is 10.7.x, download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Lion:
Lion: AirPort Utility 5.6.
If your OS X version is 10.5.x or 10.6.x, download and install AirPort Utility 5.5.3:
Leopard, Snow Leopard: AirPort Utility 5.5.3.
After you install the appropriate version of AirPort Utility, open it. The program will be located in your Utilities folder, which in turn is found in your Applications folder.
To open the Utilities folder, go to the Finder and select "Utilities" from the Go menu:
AirPort Utility 5.6 looks like this:
... but make sure you use the version of AirPort Utility you just downloaded.
Launch AirPort Utility and select your Time Capsule. Click Manual Setup, then the Guest Menu tab, then you can elect to disable the guest network, or to establish whatever security settings you want.
The window looks somewhat like this:
If your version of AirPort Utility does not look anything like that, you are probably not using the one you just downloaded. Find it and start over.
When you are finished configuring your Time Capsule, click Update and allow the Time Capsule to restart.

Why does a contact come up in the new message "to" line but not in my contacts list?

When I being typing the name, a contact that I have deleted previously will come up, but when I go to my contacts, the contact is not there. Why does this happen? And how do I get rid of it?

Did you set up virtual pads to assign the Simmons kit in layout mode? In layout, select the group controls tab in the screen control palette. Select the desired pad group(8, 12, or whatever) and drag it onto the layout area. Select a pad and press assign in the screen control inspector. Tap on a Simmons pad and it should be able to learn the pad assignment and note number. Repeat for the other pads. Hope it works for you.

Using Adobe XI, when trying to open PDF I get a blank page with small "x." How can I open the docume

Ocassionally I will try to open a PDF. The document is not viewable. I can only see a white page with a small black "x" in the top portion of the page. I have a "repair" in adobe. I have the latest version Adobe XI. Any suggestions on what I can do? I need access to the documents asap.

I follow the procedures to convert an ebook into a pdf... (document ==> digital documents...) but, the pdf I find there are not redable.... this drives me nuts ! ;-)
As I click on the pdf file, it leads me to an adobe website...

Can open PDF's on line but not downloaded files!

I had problems downloading/upgrading Adobe 9 until advised to remove Adobe download manager and start again. This I actioned and I now have Adobe 9 on my system. However, before I actioned the above I was advised to try at start up clicking F8 (I believe?) and adjust my resolution down to 800 x 600 - this I did, but, it made no difference, Adobe 9 upgrade would not load. I now find I can open PDF's on line with my upgraded Adobe 9 in full screen resolution, but, all the earlier PDF's on file reduce my screen to 800 x 600 res and still don't open. Is it possible to go back to the first action, click F8 at start up, etc, as detailed above, and reverse it? If it is can someone please repeat the actions I must make i.e. is it F8 I click when I start up my computer, and, what do I then click on the screen, etc, I would be most grateful!

OK - I have looked at what actions advice I was given and it was - Press F8 @ advanced startup options, select VGA mode, Dialog box click OK to start Windows.....could this have restructured my screen resolution for existing PDFs?

Well hi to those few who actually looked at my problem and what a pity no one has been able to help me. It is pretty obvious Adobe doesn't monitor these web pages otherwise I might have been thanking them for their help in sorting my problem out - fat chance!

Syncing via the Books tab on your computer's iTunes only syncs books to the iBooks app. If you want the PDFs in Adode Reader or the Kinlde then you will need to sync them via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's Apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes - I don't think that iBooks supports the direct copying of PDFs from it to other apps

Cannot open PDFs created by Morningstar Advisor Workstation with Preview

I run my financial planning practice on my Macs using Parallels and Windows XP for Windows-only software and Internet Explorer only secure web sites. When I create PDFs using Morningstar's online application, Advisor Workstation, I cannot open these PDFs with Leopard's Preview of Mac app PDFPen Pro 4. Either apps starts to open the file, but the stalls and I get the dreaded spinning beach ball until I force quit the app.
I resorted to installing Acrobat Reader 9 for Mac just to be able to read these PDFs. Using Reader, the troublesome files open instantly with no problems.
Any suggestions?
If Apple tech support is reading this, I have sample files to email you if you're interested.

Yes, the files are downloaded properly, because I can open them with the Mac version of Acrobat Reader or on any PC with Acrobat Reader.
Regarding the comment on licensing issues, the latest version of PDFPen Pro cannot open the offending files either. I emailed sample files to the PDFPen Pro developers at SmileOnMyMac. They responded that they will examine the files I sent and let me know their engineers determine is the issue and, hopefully, their fix.

Why does Angry Birds Rio 2 show up on my portable devices but not the iMac?

I have Angry Birds Rio on all my devices and the updates for Rio 2 have been downloaded on both the iPad and iPhone but it still is not showing up on the iMac. I know the updates for each device don't always come out at the same time but Rio 2 has been out for a while. How do I get it to show up on the iMac?

That was it! I had both versions on the iMac but the older one was on my dock and thus the one I kept opening. I removed the older version and put the 2.1.0 on the dock and all is good. Thank you!!

Why does dialing *100# (to check prepaid account balance) work from dialer but not from contacts?

to check my prepaid account balance, I can dial *100# and my carrier sends me back a message with the balance information. I used to save this number under my contacts in my "feature phone" and it worked great.
With the ZTE Open from Movistar (Spain), dialing the number from the dialer works, I get the requested message. However, when I save this number under my contacts and I dial it from there, I don't get the requested message.
From the dialer, it doesn't really dial but sends information to the carrier which sends information back. From within the contacts, it seems to be treated as a phone number which is not recognized, and I get some sort of busy tone back.
Can this be settled in some way? This would be very convenient! I guess this is true for the complete target group of FFOS.

Going through contacts would probably take just as long as Dialing, But in this case i think it is to do with your Service Provider not the phone itself.
Remember Mozilla only make the OS it is probably your Provider that is making it do that.

Unfortunately, this is a symptom that a power surge has damaged the AirPort Extreme. There is likely nothing that can be done other than replacing the device.
If you have an Apple store or authorized servicer in your area, you should take it to them so they can have a look at the device to confirm. As user stinkybumbler mentions, it would be a good idea to have any of your sensitive electronic gear plugged into a high quality surge protection device.

Why does iTunes send music via iCloud to my ipad and iPhone, but not music videos

When I get music via itunes, icloud pushes them to my ios devices, but music videos do not.

Were the music videos purchased with a different Apple ID than the one you are using for iTunes Match? If so, I don't believe they are eligible (same is true if the music video was not purchased from the iTunes Store).

Adobe reader Form PDF renderered in Internet Explorer not being read by JAWS

I'm checking the accessibility of my web application in case of XFA forms generated from Lifecycle Server ES. The standalone version of the PDF forms gets easily read by JAWS but when the same PDF is embedded in a web application JAWS does not read at at all. A sample which is not being in a web application is

If you want to open the PDF in the browser you have to explicitely set the content type to "application/pdf", if you use "application/octet-stream" you'll always get the download box and when you choose to open from this box the reader will be used because the reader is configured to open PDF documents in the windows filetypes settings.
