Are you downloading or installing? The Adobe Download Assistant is used to download and save the install files to your computer. After the download is complete you can then launch the installer which will install the software on your computer.

Why does Adobe Application Manager fail to install?
I just subscribed to the Creative Cloud. I am trying to download applications. The download starts with an update to Application Manager. Each time, I get the error message,"We've encountered the following issues: Adobe Application Manager failed to install." I'm not able to install any of the CC applications. [I've tried Acrobat and Photoshop.]
I'm going to write this information cause it was so darn frustrating and after two days I finally got it - so here goes - resolution:
I'm running windows 7, and was trying to download cloud which apparently I was forced to do based on my subscription base (was on CS6 before that)
Step 1: start task manager and close ALL adobe running apps including akami session
Step 2: click on the windows icon and type in search bar %appdata%, enter
Step 3: in browser bar above of folder, click on "appdata" (my file directory when i typed step two was C:\Users\study\AppData\Roaming, and I need to be be at C:\Users\study\AppData)
Step 4: Click Local, then Adobe, then oobe, delete the oobe file
Step 5: Go the the following to download the "cleaner tool": http://download.macromedia.com/pub/creativecloud/cleanertool/win/Adobe_Creative_Cloud_Clea ner_Tool.zip
Step 6: Unzip the file and click on the AdobeCreativeSuiteCleanerTool.exe, that was in my directory as follows (dependent on where you download and unzip of course) C:\Users\study\Downloads\adobe_creative_suite_cleaner_tool (1)\win
Step 7: select (e) in the black box for "english", select (y) for yes, select creative cloud (whichever option # that is) and again anything with creative cloud (this did NOT delete my other adobe files, which I feared may - but I was simply instructing it to clean/delete the creative cloud.
Step 8: close the black window
Step 9: Click here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773 and download the creative cloud adobe application manager
Step 10: Run the application
Step 11: Log in and download the software you want
If that doesn't work, what I did is between steps 4 and 5 I restarted my computer, then I went into task manager and closed all adobe apps. I'm not sure I had to do this step but I was desperate after 2 days doing whatever. Each tech person gave me different information. The last person helped me best, but I spoke with her via chat AFTER I had rebooted the computer. Why does my Mac keep trying to install EXCEL?
I am trying to use the XM Radio site(using Firefox), but I am being told that I need to download a plugin. I link on the Plug In & it is WIndows Media Player. So I go to the site via the link, and download the version for the Mac OS X. But when I try to install, it wants to install Excel!
And this is not the first item of software that has tried to do that. I do not now recall just which program I was trying to install but it also tried to install Excel.
I Dont Want Excel! I want to listen to my XM radio player.

Why does Adobe reader tell me to install a printer when I try to print?
I have just reinstalled Windows Vista after a viral attack and now have reinstalled all my programs including Adobe Reader. I now can't print a pdf document. the error message tells me to install a printer, but my HP photosmart printer works fine with other programs, and used to print from earlier versions of Adobe Acrobat. Having read what other people have said I uninstalled Adobe 9 and installed Adobe 8. Still can't print. Can anyone help on this one?
soltion is very simple .close itunes and all programes that r open than .go to run and type C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes . . no delete sc infoand than . diisconnect ur iphone from itunes and re connect, when itunes will synchronize it will give the same messagee again , that u r not auithorized, read the whole message, there will be written that if u dont authorize some of ur apps will be deleted or removed, u have to click donot authorize and than the apps or songs causing problem will be remeved and ur fone wil now be synchronized .. . than u can download those apps or songs after authorization . ... .

Why does adobe reader keep trying to open my XPI files?
Recently when trying to download a .xpi file I accidentally clicked on adobe reader instead of the program I wanted to use to open it, and now it repeatedly tries to use adobe reader to open it no matter what I do, I've looked everywhere and I can't change this. Could you please inform me on how to change what I use to open a file?
You can install such an locally saved extension in Firefox by dragging the file in a Firefox tab or use "Firefox/File > Open File" to install the extension.
There is usually no need to open an xpi file directly.

Why does Adobe Flash keep trying to uninstall?
Sometimes when I go to a random web page (today I was on Macrumors), adobe flash player opens a window
asking if I want to "proceed with uninstallation". I'm really confused... is this a virus or something? It's happened
periodically when I go to various different sites, always popping up with the same window and trying to uninstall.

If the problem continues, you may have the FlashBlock trojan installed download the free ClamXav and run a scan, keep running one every other day.
Right now it's new and not everyone has a line on it yet to make a up a definition.
Apple will of course update the safe downloads, perhaps provide info how to remove it
What it sounds like is when you visit a web page with Flash, something installed is trying to get you to remove it, like prankware.
I suspect you could have picked this up at a Mac site like MacRumors...someone with a grudge again our most cherished and loved Abode Flash!

Why does Creative Cloud keep trying to install to Drive C?
I have selected my F drive from the preferences for BOTH the installation and the file storage. But none of the apps will install to my 3 terabyte F drive because there's not enough room on C drive (it's a solid state with just enough room for Windows -- I don't install anything to C).
My CS5 Master Collection worked just fine this way. I wouldn't have spent the money on this but my school is using CS6 Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition for our documentaries. I only had CS4 Adobe Premiere in my CS5 (not sure what the deal was with that) and it had Soundbooth instead of Audition.Hi TRobBrown,

Why does adobe only works when 1st installed
Every time I want to use Adobe on my Mac I have to reinstall. It works when first installed. The next time I try to open a file I get a message same I am blocked.
