Why does an advertising page automatically pop up in a new tab right after I start Firefox?

In the last few days, whenever I've started Firefox my home page loads normally, but then a new tab automatically opens up with an ad, sometimes in the form of a system warning. Today's ad was from Snap telling me my Real Player was out of date. This is very annoying and alarming. Has Mozilla started distributing ads this way?

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs.<br />

It happens to me since 2 days ago: my Pages or Numbers documents start to croll up at a slow pace, without any input of my part. It begins to play on my nerves, so I wondered if someone else already encountered this problem and came up with a solution.

That feature isn't for '''''all''''' links, only for those links that would open in a new window; no affect on links that are programmed to open in the same window. That preference diverts a new window to a new tab. If you want all links to open in a new tab, middle-click or {Ctrl + Click} links.

On occasion I will have 13 plugin-containers.exe launch right after I start Firefox typicaly there will be none which is what I expect since my startpages do not have any apps. Why is this?

After hours on the computer it becomes unusably slow and there will be 13 plugin-containers.exe
I know this computer is under powered but I only use it for mail and LinkedIn. Replacing or upgrading memory is not an option for me.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

The type is small on the website but that's because of all the stuff that they are cramming onto the page. A couple of other users made this same comment about eBay a while ago, as I recall.
There is no setting in Safari in which you can enlarge the size of the text.

Where are the pictures coming from? I would more likely believe that your system has a virus than photoshop, but without more information, I could be misinterpreting your post.

Wi-Fi is not required for iMessage. Internet access is required for iMessage which includes when the iPhone is connected to the cellular network.
If an iMessage cannot be sent, it will fail to send and you will be prompted to send as an SMS if text only.

Try doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:
killall Dock
Log out/in and test. If that doesn't work.
You need to look in your user Library/Applications Support/Dock for the .db. Use the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/ Library/Applications Support/Dock. Move the .db to your desktop.
Then try a dock reset.
Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command
killall Dock
Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.
If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

This is often due to the fact that your account is not synced with the new iTunes Radio capabilities, and you have to sign-out and sign in to retreive the new capabilities.
Visit the Store menu and sign out... , and then sign in ... and try again.

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? I assume those black lines are around photos or objects that have had a frame or drop shadow added to it, right? If so that's a known issue.
There's a workaround for that in this tutorial: #7 - Converting Photos w/Frames, Drop Shadows and/or Reflections into a Single Image File. That should get rid of those black lines/boxes.

If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.

You can't access iCloud.com from a mobile browser. You can from a desktop or laptop computer whose browser identifies it as such.
If you use a browser on your iPad or iPhone which allows changing the browser ID sent to websites, e.g., "Safari" rather than "Mobile Safari" you will be able to access iCloud.com. One such browser is iCab which is available in the App Store
