Why does Apple charge for Apps that are FREE? That's my concern.

Free means Free....
As both Johnathan and Demo have indicated, if it says Free there is no charge associated with it. If you upgrade to a "Pro" version, or if you do in-app purchases, then it is no longer free....but when you initially install the app, you do not pay anything if it says "Free".
And "Yeah? I'll show you" does not help us to understand what you are talking about. If you want help, then provide specifics and we will help you to figure out your misunderstanding.
Cheers,

  • Why does Apple charge for spell check while MS Word offers it for free?

I have been using MS Office for Mac until recently when I could not open PowerPoint files sent to me. I bought iWork '08 to remedy that and right after I installed it, Spell Catcher said my trial period was up and that I could buy it. Of course, I'm NOT going to buy it! I tried running a spell check in Pages but it did not pick up on all of my purposely misspelled words. Do I really have to PAY for spell checking? I am not impressed with iWork '08!
As a side note: Does anyone notice how difficult it is to get into Discussions recently? Is it beacause of iPhone traffic?

Spell Catcher is not something that is installed with iWork as far as I am aware, I have spell check built in to Pages and keynote and I have never seen any mention of "spell catcher"
This is the company that makes SpellCatcher: http://www.rainmakerinc.com/
They are not affiliated with Apple. In fact, No development has occurred since last year.

  • Does apple charge for Genius Bar help

Does apple charge for Genius Bar help

Depends on if the equipment is under warranty and if so then if the problem is covered under the warranty.
In all cases having them look at it to diagnose the problem is free.

  • Hey does apple charges for free applications mentioned in Itune??

Yesterday i bought a Apple IPAD2. i have connected my IPAD2 to itunes at that my there was no applications in it. I have installed some free applications listed in the Itunes. i m curious about, does the apple charge for the free applications as well ??

If it says free, there's no charge, but, Apple may place a $1 authorization hold to verify your account then credit the account within 24 to 48 hours.
iTunes Store & Mac App Store: About credit-card authorization holds
The apps that are on the iPad when you buy it are pre installed by Apple and cannot be deleted.
For purchased iTunes media, you can re download without being charged again.

  • What does Apple charge for replacement batteries?

    I just upgraded my 2 year old iphone 4s  to a 5s
but when I had the iphone 4s, I started to notice once it got to the 2 year mark,
it wasn't holding a charge as long as it used to.  I mean the battery still worked,
but if I hadn't have upgraded to the 5s,  I would have had a dead battery within
    a couple months..
I didn't notice that myself until after I got this one. So far its held a charge for an
entire day and my 4s wasn't even coming close to holding a charge for an entire day,
but at the time I just thought it had something to do with IOS 7 on the 4s.
So this leads me to my question.
If you purchase an iphone, and something happens to the battery,
or doesn't hold a charge as long er something like that,
how much does Apple charge to replace it?
The 4s I got from the apple store online,  but because I did a trade up this time,
I ended up getting it from Best Buy  because most of the other stores were out
    of the 16 gig model.
I know best buy does 'em too but how much do they charge for battery replacements normally?
I imagine its not the full price of the phone is it?

oh ok well thats not too bad.  Good to know

  • Why does Apple charge USD1.00 for downloading a FREE app like Hay Day on App Store?

I just found out that Apple charged my credit card for USD1.00 for downloading a FREE app like Hay Day on my iPad. At first when I sign in using my Apple ID, I it prompted me my credit card information. I thought it was just for verification purpose only. Later today, I received atext message from my bank telling me that Apple has charged USD1.00 on my credit card. Apple... Please explain!

They don't.   Please see the document here >>>>>>>
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702
As you can see, it will never actually be charged.

  • Why is apple charging for free app

I downloaded 2 apps marked as Free but why is Apple still charging my credit card for it?

If it's $1 per app, that's an authorization hold which will be refunded to your account usually within 72 hours.
iTunes Store & Mac App Store: About payment card authorization holds
Apple does verify for security purposes that it's you downloading the apps.

  • Why does Apple update my apps without my permission

Last night I was syncing my iPhone. After syncing I noticed that many of my Apps had been updated!
I have several apps on my iPhone that I did not wish to update, and in typical Apple fashion is very difficult to go back to previous versions.
How can I prevent Apple from updating apps without my permission?

The only way to update apps is for the user to initiate an update.  Are you syncing to iCloud?  At a Mac/PC via USB or wifi?  If by USB, you need to go to the update tab and choose individual apps or all those that need updating. So please tell us which method of syncing you are using.  Maybe there is a setting that I'm not aware of that updates automatically when syncing.
For security reasons I do not use iCloud.   I am syncing with a USB cable.
I tried to uncheck all of my apps.  I received a warning that any/many apps that were not checked would be deleted.
I synced using iTunes. I didn't know there was any other way.
I am using a Mac with 10.6.8  (was using 10.7.2 but switched back.)

  • Why does Skype charge for group video calls?

    Yes, this is a rant.
Yes, I hold little hope of receiving a meaningful response.
These being said, I hope that if more people point out the absurdity of charging for a feature currently freely available from a major competitor (one would hope Goggle shows as such on Skype's radar?), who knows, Somebody at Microsoft/Skype will slap they forehead at the sudden realization that they are losing market share that will be very hard (if not impossible) to regain.
I can already hear the arguments against making this (and other features, such as US/Canada calls) free going on incessantly about lost revenue and the next quarter results - I've used to work for a behemoth and that's how they die: never considering loss of customer good will, bad reputation and the resulting inevitable mass migration to competitor's solution in response to the company's obvious ineptitude. It never seems to dawn on them that losing some revenue now means living to fight another day.
Oh well, the battle between the giants was interesting to watch - until I've realized that one of the giants is blind.
    Oh, and BTW:
I had to write this message a second time - IE11 crashed when I tried to preview the first iteration. Microsoft FTW! (yes, that was sarcastic - I am now making a copy of the entire post before submitting, just in case)
Also, your spellchecker flags Skype as an error - I guess the spellchecker is on to something.
End of rant/ Going to (video - sic) hangout with my friends

Strange that nobody has reply to this topic as
I TOO HAVE THE SAME QUESTION as at July 2013
(one year after first posting) ANY READON for being charges on UNANSWERED CALLS????

  • Why does Apple charge you extra when you purchase an app from the Appstore?

Does this usually happen? This was my first time buying something from the Appstore. I had $20.00 and i bought Infinity Blade 2 for $2.99. Now my balance is $16.83. I got charged $3.17 instead. It's not a lot more but i just want to know does this usually happen?

That's tax.  Just like everything else we buy.

  • How can Apple charge for Applecare on a product that isn't yet shipping?

I just noticed on 3/12 I got dinged $99 for Applecare on my iPad 3G+Wifi which won't ship until later this month, and I've been informed that nothing is actually shipped to me regarding Applecare - the iPad will be auto enrolled.
I also got dinged for the iPad case on 3/27 but I guess I can understand that since they've actually shipped the case. I don't like it - what good is a case without an iPad, but I understand it.
I thought you could bill for product until it ships. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I can feel your pain...but as you already pointed out AppleCare doesn't actually ship...it's an auto enroll... though I do agree it's kind of silly to charge you already...
Call them and see if they can adjust that until you actually have it in hand
Personally I don't buy Apple Care until at minimum 3 months after I purchase an item...within that first 90 days the Apple Care doesn't add more coverage than the normal Apple warranty... then within the first year you are covered for manuf. defects by Apple anyway...so unless you need to call and get phone support...having both at same time during that first year does't really do much for you... again after the first 90 days if you need phone support you NEED AppleCare... but if not then buying AppleCare right before you first year is over wont change your coverage options for defects that occur
