Why does Apple continue to force certain (most) users to deal with iOS 7 when tons of people are complaining about it?
I loved my iPhone before this update and this update makes me feel like I'm on a little kids phone.. Like a cartoon or something. Why doesn't apple give the option for users to downgrade to iOS 6.1.3? This is huge inconvenience for me and A LOT of other people. Apple should do something about this instead of forcing other people to buy a new phone!

This might be dead horse I am beating, but I didn't feel like searching the forum to see if this has already been discussed ad naseum. I'm really starting to lose my patience with Apple and their insistence on removing useful features from their OS. I've already lost track of all the things that they have un-engineered in recent updates. One of the ones that I thoroughly disliked was the removal of cover flow from iTunes... of course that is a program and not the OS, but just one example. Now I am realizing that the column view in Finder has been changed as well. Used to be that you could change the width of the columns at will and now they seem to be fixed and immovable, which really p!sses me off. I don't like Icon, List or Cover Flow view in Finder and use column view almost exclusively and was always changing the column width to suit my needs, i.e. when the file name was too long to read and i could simply change the width to read it all. Now I can't do that and I am really getting sick and tired of things that are really useful that I use all the time being taken away and it's like Apple is taking steps backward. Probably 10-15 years ago, that was the norm for something like this, immovable columns and people b!tching about not being able to change the width and then we get that ability and now it's taken away again! Why are they constantly regressing? How is that improving the UI of their OS? I just don't understand it....

Why does it take so long for iTunes Match to synch with IOS Device?
This weekend I ripped about 15 CD's that I had purchased from Amazon.com. For some reason it took a long, long time to get into iMatch. Granted some of the CD's weren't popular and may have needed to actually upload as opposed to match with already stored music. But some were new, and popular releases.
Typcially I rip, let iMatch do its thing and just stream the music, not download, to my IOS devices. I did leave my iMac running for several hours, and even after iTunes on the iMac showed an successful match some music didn't show up for a day, or if it did it was "ghosted" and I could not get it to stream.have the same problem since upgrading to i tunes 7 and can only guess it's the size of my library - nearly 200gb. A friend of mine who's library is 20 gb or so has no such problems. If there's another reason and we can do something about it I too would love to know!

A statement from the Smithsonian: "....iPad. Although these devices technically fully support 3D graphics in the web browser, due to a restriction of Apple it is not currently possible to use the Smithsonian X 3D explorer on iOS devices." Why does Apple not allow Smithsonian X 3D to run on MAC iOS devices? It runs on other OS such as Android etc.

If you know so little about the topic why even respond? Just to take sides? How do you even know your on the right side? Because you bought an iDevice and must obey your master?
Firstly 63% of video on the web is not HTML5. There is no such thing as HTML5 video.
HTML has a new tag called <video></video>. This tag allows the playback of videos converted to a specific codec. In safari it is h.264, in chrome it is VP8, in firefox it is OGG.
Each browser can only handle their codec, so a video that runs in the enw <video> tag in safari will not run in chrome or firefox unless another video is also present that has been converted to the correct format.
Adobe Flash can play all of them, or any one of them in any browser. Or you can just use .flv and have only one video that plays everywhere.
As such Adobe Flash plays back h.264 video, and has been doing so way before anyone heard of HTML5. Most hardware today has built in support for this codec as well, making it the best performig codec to be used for video.
With or without HTML5, h.264 is and has been becoming the "standard" codec for all video.
So to say 63% of video is HTML5 is a half truth. If you only cinsider safari then yes, 63% of the videos that flash plays can also be played in safari. However that same 63% can not be seen by anyone else as they require a different codec.
This says that h.264 is the dominant codec, because 63% of all video uses it. However you still need to support the other 37% of video which is not h.264, and you still need to support the other 63% of video for those who dont use safari.
The best option to bring all this together is Flash. It's the one stop shop for all video across all screens.
And Flash out performs HTML5 players 10 to 1 on every product on the planet except Apples.... where it somehow becomes a huge resource hog.... but then that may have something to do with Apple not wanting any media consumption to come from anywhere than their pocket. -
Why does Apple not give a list of error messages and possible solutions? I have the (-54) error continually that has suddenly appeared and cannot find a solution, even though other users seem to have the same problem.

Why does apple allow apps in the App Store hijack your Internet when certain websites? Why doesn't apple remove their products from the App Store?.
Apple saw it as their responsibility since the redirection took me to the App Store. They assisted me in stopping the redirection which is occurring on many peoples iPhones. It's a have java script problem that adking is using to get you to buy their games. The websites work normal and then all of the sudden the website is taken over by adking.com. You can no longer use the website as it immediately takes you to the App Store without ever showing a popup to cancel the redirection. They were very helpful fixing the problem should others experiencing this specifically with adking.com.
No need to get defensive. I'm not the only one experiencing the problem Apple said. -
This is a total pain in the ***. I've been using ios products since the launch of the iPhone 4 and they've suddenly changed to this nonsense? Why does Apple treat its users like they're 4 years old?
Those things are nothing new. People were doing that three years ago and Apple felt their security was sufficient then. I don't have a credit card on file so I'm not worried about anyone getting my credit card info.
I have sent my feedback to Apple. Their response included "this is policy. There is no way around the security measures." and "I have provided Apple's answer. There is no further escalation point or anyone I can transfer you to that is going to provide a different answer at this time." -
I open Address Book, go into Preferences, select Template and under the Names field (friend, assistant, father, etc) I add a custom field called "Principal".
I also add two more custom fields in the Email area.
Quit Address Book then relaunch. Add a new contact and the new custom fields, Principal, etc. are there. All good so far.
I have a Now Contact file with about 200 contacts in it. I export all fields as a Text file, Tab delimited. No problems there. With Address Book launched, select Import, pick the text file, leave Text Encoding on Automatic and click Open.
The window that shows the fields for Address Book and fields for the text file side by side opens. This is where you match up the correct fields for importing. If I go to one of the fields from the text file that I created a custom field for, click under the Address Book heading on the Do not import, scroll thru the Apple choices of fields, none of the custom fields show up. Only the original Apple ones are there. Why does Apple let you create them in the Template area but not have them available for importing? Does anyone have suggestions on getting around this?While most likely not of interest to you, Spotlight can also tell you where the files it finds are located

Why does Apple misslead us by selling what appears to be Season 2 Game Of Thrones when in fact it is only some timewasting trailers and the actual program is only available on 18th February 2013!

I am sure they will say it is in the small print and you should have read it and what you got was these 'Really Cool Trailers'......but come on Apple - don't screw up your BRAND now if you carry on you will have a core problem! My trust is waning.

I have been a help-desk professional for over 15 years now, and emotions are part of the business.
I know it has been over 6 months since gloriastitz posted her reply. I hope she got a useful answer, but I fear we have satisfactorily scared her away from seeking help.
So, the first best response to tell someone is that the problem they are experience is almost certainly fixable, but may require more information to solve. You tell them you understand their frustration (even if you personally don't experience frustration or don't understand why people my express frustration publicly about a problem that frustrates them). It's just good protocol.
Then you work with the person to break down the problem into steps. If you don't have a ready answer and don't think you might even know the answer with sufficient data, then back out and leave it to others to tackle.
I've been having a similar problem with my Mail program. The cause is still unclear to me after vieweing the logs and changing settings where I know them to be. There appears to be a setting that is not clearly placed in any of the typical UI locations for initiating the desired action for either a feed: or mailto: call.

Why does apple only support mp4 videos?
It's not really a problem, i usually use my friends computers to convert my videos since mine is so slow.
But why does apple only support MP4 and MOV formats? Why not MPEG or DivX?
I know they cannot use WMV because it is a Microsoft format.
It's just sometimes when i convert videos, the audio becomes out of sync or iTunes complains it's not playable on my iPod.
I would just like to know why?
Thanks for your time.If Apple chooses to go with H.264 or MP4 or whatever else they want to support, maybe it would be real nice if iTunes could automatically convert to those formats. So if I dropped my universally standard (and supported by most DVD players) DivX video clip in the library, iTunes would convert and format the video to an iPod friendly format.
So, let me see if I understand this correctly. You want Apple to pirate proprietary codecs from DivX and build them into iTunes QT access. Tell me, does this mean that Apple is working as your agent and you will be the one spending time behind bars or paying the fines. Or, are you saying that Apple should act as an agent for DivX and charge you for a version of iTunes with legal codecs installed. How about Windows Media? Want to double the cost? What about Real? Or maybe Apple should have different versions of iTunes -- one for you and one for the guy who lives next door who uses old Indeo files?
I have tried several 3rd party converters and they all suck.
Perhaps you should be more selective in choosing a converter or invest in a commercial product which is supported by the people selling it. -

The kit is firmly inserted in thhe iPad's dock ? You could also try a reset and see if it's recognised after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I haven't had problems using the kit with SD cards from Canon cameras . What capacity is the card, and it's an SD or SDHC card - if it's an SDXC card that's formatted as ExFAT then it won't be recognised -
What does "extracted channel PDF" mean and why does it continually duplicate on my desktop? I think it happens when I move a file in Finder to another file and when I copy some web files. What application is set to open PDF files? If you CNTRL click on the file and open with Preview does the problem occur?
If not change the default application to open PDF files to Preview.
You can do this by highlighting the file and either use CMD i or Get Info , this will open a window with the info on the file with an option to change the application that opens the file.
That's all I can think of. -
