Why does Apple have to make updates every month, outdating any games or any software that you had?

I am frustrated because I just bought a new game and it would be really fun if Apple didn't make Lion, outdating the game, just so I could use "the App Store." They advertise it as being everything, but my computer is old so I CAN'T use the magnificent trackpad stuff and all that. All I get is the App store, some new desktop pics, and no compatibility with anything, which, I feel, doesn't make sense? Can anyone answer why they have to do this to a loyal customer?

One of the solutions to the problem of having either (1) an older OS which will run some of my favorite apps, and (2) having an up-to-date OS which can't run some of my favorite apps but which does allow me access to various new-fangled things like iCloud, is to...
...have both.
Partition your hard drive, or use a bootable external hard drive (or both). Have different OS versions on different volumes, and boot into them as needed.
Example -
Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) will run PPC apps, such as AppleWorks and Diablo II. When I want to use those, I boot using the partition on which I have 10.6.8.
When I want to use iCloud features, etc., I boot using a partition on which I have Lion.

Why can't I update my iPad iso 4.2 version? I go to setting and it does not have it like it should. Why does apple have to make things so freaking hard! Help!

If you have an original iPad 1, the latest version of iOS it can run is iOS 5. So you should be able to update no problem.
Update iTunes to the latest version (11.0.2). Then simply plug your iPad into the computer and open iTunes. Click the iPad either in the sidebar or the top navigation bar. Then attempt to update the software. If it doesn't work, please post the exact error message.
Note that it would be wise to first ensure you back up the iPad.

  • Why does Firefox have to make it so difficult to get answers--I am not going to be able to check the website to see what anyone might reply to my question on crashing?

I have no way of checking to see if anyone answers this. Why does Firefox have to make it so difficult?
What does this means: DLL C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\MOZCRT19.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
Suddenly all my tabs closed. Then Windows told me I had a gazillion infections. Then a tiny strip appeared saying it was Firefox and these little blocks started to fill up the little strip as if it were downloading something--there was no way to cancel this so I cut the power. Now when I try to use the Firefox icon, I get the message above.
Am I supposed to remove the old Firefox stuff and start from scratch? I am stuck using Internet Explorer.
I went to the Firefox website and tried to download it again, but McAffee jumped in and said there is something wrong with Firefox and I should register with them that I am downloading Firefox (I do not have McAffee). Then I got a security warning saying Firefox is not safe.
I am completely at a loss as to what to do next, since I don't understand any of this mumbojumbo.

Here's the story on one of your infections, namely JS:Redirector-EH[Trj]: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Trojan%3aJS%2fRedirector.H
The main problem with malware is that it uses the installation to proliferate by contacting hostile servers to download more of the same rogue code.
Firefox doesn't have the option to "Run" a file. You can only "Save File" or "Cancel". If you downloaded it with IE8, then yes, you can run it, but that's not what I wanted you to do.
What you should do now is to disable System Restore. You can open System Properties by hitting the Windows logo key and Pause/Break key together. Then click the "System Restore" tab. Then checkmark the box which says "''Turn off System Restore on all drives''". Reboot to clear its contents. System Restore unfortunately makes a backup of all executables which includes viruses so that when you reboot without deleting them first, System Restore reinstates them again.
After you complete that step, run Avast and Malwarebytes again to make sure the system is clean.
Then go to the Windows Update site (link on your start menu) and install the missing patches which enabled your machine to become infected in the first place.
Once the system is clean, repeat step one to download Firefox again, but please do not run the file. If you don't see the option to "Save File", cancel the download, but it should be there. You can use this direct download link to download FF4.0.1 [http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-4.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US Download Firefox 4.0.1]
Run the file after you download it to the desktop.

Why do I have $3.99 charge every month from itunes ?

If you are getting a monthly charge then it sounds like you have an autp-renewing subscriptionn - there are instructions on this page for viewing, managing and stopping them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098

Does any one know of software that you can import a PDF and then draw  on it, dimensions, notes and symbols...technical drawing?. Blue beam have the perfect software for this BUT it's not Mac compatible

You need a PDF editor, at the high end use Adobe's Acrobat Professional, at the low end use the editing features in Preview (pre-loaded on your iMac). However you should probably look at the Mac App Store, you will find many of PDF editing applications. You simply need to find one that suits your needs.

  • Why in God's name does reader have to be updated every other day?

How long have you been writing this software for windows? Come on, it not like its a video game or even an OS (which is update only slightly more often than reader)?
And why does Adobe need to dig its claws into my OS so deeply. Just read a pdf and show it to me. No other functions are required or asked for. If this keeps up I'l need to move to FoxIt or some other compatible and lightweight reader that just reads pdfs and leaves out the insidious, in your registry with both feet, constant services running software to someone else.

    OS XP
    AR 9.3.2
regardless of whether I allow updates to proceed or not, AR repeatedy daily alerted me to update. I have now uninstalled AR 9.3.2 and d/l and installed AR X. I no longer have an AR icon in my taskbar, but do have an ARX icon on my desktop. I would prefer to not have yet another icon on my desktop - as AR X is now listed in my programs folder, perhaps I can delete the icon on my desktop - please advise.
In addition whenever I want to open a PDF file, I am obliged to first open the reader then from the file drop-down menu open my desired PDF file. If I try to avoid this step and open a PDF file directly by clicking on the file , I get my microsoft picture manager which opens with an image of a PDF icon. From within this picture manager displaying a static image of a PDF icon, it is not possible to do anything. I simply close the picture manager and revert to opening the Adobe reader and going through the motion of the drop-down menu from file etc. This is an annoying multiple step process that would be desirable to avoid. Can you advise me on this point, please?

  • Why does apple try and make you pay for something you haven't received then they blackmail you by blocking my iPad from receiving updates?

My daughter tried to purchase an order with a maxed out credit card, she then canceled the order or rather tried to. Since that I haven't been able to update my apps nor download free ones. So I contract apple they return an email to me saying that I must pay for the order I don't want let alone did not receive, I return the email within two minutes since then nothing. They say I must pay for the order or I will not be able to use my apps. This is the **** I have begun to expect from Icrap steve jobs we miss you.

@roaming lah blah whatever check your appleophile crap at the door I received nothing they received nothing I'm not paying for nothing I would pay if they had mistakenly sent something and didn't receive payment but they sent me nothing therefor this is absolutely blackmail to attempt to coerce me into paying for a sale never completed as far as all sales are final well where does that apply smartass? A definition of sale is payment rendered for product received. Neither one applies they tried to process my card NSF that means they don't send product, correct Sherlock or am I guessing that you think a major conglomerate always has the little guys best interests at heart? This is a ludicrous issue from apple, especially after I bought a basic toy that can't compute as much as a net book from acer for three times the price Nuff.  Said

  • Why does it ask me to update every time??

I'm very disappointed that a product that used to work so well has gone south. I use a Dell computer, I use firewire for my iPod connection. But while iTunes used to come up automatically, it no longer recognizes my iPod. Also, every single time I plug in my iPod, it wants to update my iTunes or iPod software...and I mean every time! I update, but it makes no difference! The updates aren't even recognized the next time I dock the iPod or call up iTunes. What the heck is the matter with this thing?...this didn't happen until one of the previous updates.

Avinash, after I posted this morning, I restarted my computer, and immediately noticed a recent e-mail from Apple about iTunes 6.0, so I installed it. After I did that, I reset my iPod (I should mention I have the 15GB docking model). It seemed to be working as it should, as it recognized the iPod and allowed me to disconnect (manually) after updating (in the past, it never said it was ever ok to disconnect). Now, even though I thought it had a pretty good charge, I could not get it to turn on once off the docking station. I put it back on, so we'll see if it charges.
I have a neighbor who tells me he has to reset his similar model all the time (and he has an EE and does Computer Security for the Govt!!) Thanks for your reply and I wish you luck!
I have actually spent more time installing updates and trying to get them to work than I have listening to my iPod over the last two years.
Also, my hard disc crashed last fall, and I had to replace it, consequently, I lost my entire library when I went to update my iPod, and had to rebuild it piece by piece.
When I see how much trouble of a similar nature people in these discussions have, I have to wonder. I thought when they came out with iTunes for Windows (to sub for Musicmatch) things would go smoothly, but my friends with Mac computers say it will only ever work really well with a Mac computer.

  • Why does Apple refuse to make a 64 bit version of quicktime for Windows?

For those of us in digital media creation Quicktime is a highly used App, how ever access to 4+ gigs of ram is more important. I'm making the switch to a 64-bit OS in the next week or so, and it's really frustrating to see that Apple, after how many years since XP64 first hit, STILL does not have a 64-Bit version of Quicktime. What is the hold up?
I also don't understand how they can release something where one of the main features is busted for multiple versions. I had to stick with an older version of QT for quite awhile before the load image sequence was fixed. Why are their Windows customers treated as second class citizens?

  • Why does apple have this stupid thing where you cant change your apple id to another persons and then change it back? Its really annoying and why 90 days!!!!!!!!!!

    Please help

There is a very good reason why Apple does this.
Basically it is to prevent people from sharing purchased content with their friends. If you buy an app that costs lets say $19.99 and you let a friend sign into your ID on his device in order to download that purchase for free - that is what most people would call stealing. And your not just stealing from Apple - you are really stealing the bulk of the money from the app developer.
There is nothing that you can do now. You have to wait the 90 days. And it is highly unlikely that any feedback to Apple is going to matter. I don't see them changing this anytime soon.

  • Why does Apple continue to make their OS less and less user-friendly?

This might be dead horse I am beating, but I didn't feel like searching the forum to see if this has already been discussed ad naseum. I'm really starting to lose my patience with Apple and their insistence on removing useful features from their OS.  I've already lost track of all the things that they have un-engineered in recent updates.  One of the ones that I thoroughly disliked was the removal of cover flow from iTunes... of course that is a program and not the OS, but just one example.  Now I am realizing that the column view in Finder has been changed as well.  Used to be that you could change the width of the columns at will and now they seem to be fixed and immovable, which really p!sses me off.  I don't like Icon, List or Cover Flow view in Finder and use column view almost exclusively and was always changing the column width to suit my needs, i.e. when the file name was too long to read and i could simply change the width to read it all.  Now I can't do that and I am really getting sick and tired of things that are really useful that I use all the time being taken away and it's like Apple is taking steps backward.  Probably 10-15 years ago, that was the norm for something like this, immovable columns and people b!tching about not being able to change the width and then we get that ability and now it's taken away again!  Why are they constantly regressing?  How is that improving the UI of their OS?  I just don't understand it....
Please free to chime in, correct me or whatever...

Well you can tell them at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Anything you post there will be read by Apple. Whereas what is posted here they will never see. So go for it. Give them both barrels.

  • Why does Apple have HDCP?  Videos I purchased years ago no longer play!

If there's actually a solution besides a new monitor, please post.

There are solutions to HDCP.   However, the answers are usually deleted.
Please search your issue elsewhere on the Internet.  HDCP was demanded by the Hollywood cartel (not Apple), primarily to harass their customers.
In future, I strongly recommend that you purchase movies on DVD or Blu-ray.  That way, you can watch them anywhere hassle free.
    Good luck !

FWIW - your Mac is 6 years old? How long do you expect it to last? Any hard drive and logic board can die after 6 months.
