Why does Apple now force users to provide 3 security questions or use their ridiculous two step verification in order to download from the App Store?
This is a total pain in the ***. I've been using ios products since the launch of the iPhone 4 and they've suddenly changed to this nonsense? Why does Apple treat its users like they're 4 years old?
Those things are nothing new. People were doing that three years ago and Apple felt their security was sufficient then. I don't have a credit card on file so I'm not worried about anyone getting my credit card info.
I have sent my feedback to Apple. Their response included "this is policy. There is no way around the security measures." and "I have provided Apple's answer. There is no further escalation point or anyone I can transfer you to that is going to provide a different answer at this time."

Hello there, I'm new to the Apple world, and I'm still learning my way around.
Why is when I try to download from the App Store, it says "The application cannot be downloaded."
It doesn't ask me for payment or anything. When I click on download, about 10 seconds later, that message pops up and nothing is downloaded onto my laptop. I can download other stuff onto my laptop for e.g. Microsoft Word and other various programs such as Google Chrome from the internet. However, I just cannot download from App Store. Any suggestions on how I can download apps?There is nothing wrong with my iTunes, is more of the App store that I am concerned about. And I've tried the "Authorise this computer" yes it does download when using iTunes, but no luck with App Store. And, yes I am logged onto iTunes when doing purchases.
I find this really fustrating because the App store works fine on my ipod but once it comes to my macbook, it does not download. A few seconds later after I click on an app to download, the pop up message notifies me that the purchase cannot be downloaded.

I bought my Iphone4S from australia and then moved back to my country which is India. Two days back "GAMES" catogeries was missing from the app store. I have no idea why it went gone missing.I have tried to signing in the app store several times but stil it doesn't show the GAMES catogery. Help me out.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -
Why should I "Sign in to download from the App Store"
Why does this pop up on my screen: "Sign in to download from the App Store" when I am NOT trying to download an app or anything? It interrupts my work, and looks questionable?

i have my App Store set so that nothing is automatically downloaded, and I have never gotten the type of popup you mentioned. Depending on your system, you could end up with unwanted upgrades by using the automatic setting. The App Store recently updated EVERY instance of Evernote on my Mac Pro, rendering it unusable on two io the drives. There are a few updates that you might not want at all, such as iTunes 12. Setting it on automatic gives you NO control.
It is a fairly dumb updater. I was able to retrieve an earlier version of Evernote from a backup, but was not pleased at the behavior of the update process. Even Adobe's updaters aren't that bad. -
When I have a software update notification and I go to the 'Updates" tab of the App Store and click 'update', the flash screen 'Sign in to download from the App Store comes up the the Apple ID is wrong and grayed out so I can't change it. I'm running Mavericks 10.9.4 on an IMAC 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5.You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac

Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method. -
48 Hours ago I started to upgrade to Mountain Lion on a now 10 day old IMac - 30 minutes ago I got the email with the content code and redeem code for the download from the app store - it said download was happening, but nothing happened for 30 min - HOW DO I (or you) FIX IT!?
This is a User's Forum, yelling at us won't help. You have 90 days of customer support via telephone. Use them as they can interact with their system and hopefully get you back on track. Otherwise take it to them at the Genius Bar and have them make it good.

Can I read a book I downloaded from the App Store to my phone on my non-Apple laptop?
So, I downloaded a book from the App Store onto my iPhone. This is great as I can read it on the bus, but while at home I would prefer to read it on a bigger screen. I don't have an iPad or Apple laptop.
Am I able to read it on my Dell laptop? If so, how do I do this?

I'm not sure about Amazon Kindle eBooks. I know you can read them on an iPhone via the Kindle app, just not sure if Amazon has a Mac or Windows app. I'm sure you could check at the Amazon.com web site. -
When my wife bought this ipad 18 months ago, she (or the store) set up an Apple ID that had the extension @me.com. She never wrote down the password that was created. Neither of us knew how to change the password and retrieve or create the new one. When we started actually trying to download apps, this became a problem. She called customer support before the first year of ownership ended, and they created a new Apple ID. This ID works; we can go to the support site and log in with it, yada yada. However, when I go to the app store and want to get a new app or update an existing app, the Apple ID login field prepopulates with her original ID, which is no good to us. I can't find any way of putting in the new, valid Apple ID in this login field. Why doesn't the app store give me the option to change the Apple ID this device wants to use? How do I change this setting? I'm in a time crunch, and we need to be able to download and use a few apps for some business purposes.
settings -> iTunes & App Store
click on apple ID listed there
select Sign Out
sign in with the proper account
from then on, when the store ask for your password it should be with the correct ID -

Why does everything I try to install/download from the app store pause?
I'm using an imac 2011 and trying to update Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I've also tried to reinstall Logic Pro 9 from Purchases.
But every time I try to install something, the icon pops up on the dock (clearish) and says paused?
Any help here guys? Cheers.Anything from third party apps, to bad router, or modem.... even ISP.

I am trying to download apps but all that happens is the icon appears with a "waiting" underneath it. Updates do the same and so I am not able to download anything. I have rebooted the iPad this hasn't helped. I am able to sync the iPad with my PC and this updates everything. I would however not have to do this constantly. Any ideas on how to solve this download issue.
