Why does Apple offer three incompatible gift cards
My Mother in law just bought a Mac Mini as her first Apple computer after her Windows XP computer died. She was apprehensive but my wife and I encouraged her to make the switch. She was doing fine with the included software and the addition of Word and Excel. She was just missing a couple of games and a checkbook program. I bought her an Apple Gift Card for Christmas so she could buy the extra programs she wanted from the App Store. Emagine my surprise when I the Apple Gift Card couldnt be used for the App Store. Customer Service informed me that the Apple Gift Card could only be used for Apple Hardware and I needed to buy a App Store gift card. I am still unable to find a way to buy an App Store gift card. I found an iTunes gift card but that seems to be different from the App Store, too. ***? Shouldn't they all be interchangable as spendable "Apple Money"?
There are no App store specific gift cards, only iTunes cards. Once an iTunes gift card is redeemed, the money shows as a positive balance on your account tied to your Apple ID that you were logged in with when you redeemed it. It can be used in the Mac App Store as well as the iTunes and iBook stores.

Could be anything from a chargeback, or your card is junk depending on what it is. Using the word debit card isn't realy descriptive, and can many mean many, many different things. -
I open Address Book, go into Preferences, select Template and under the Names field (friend, assistant, father, etc) I add a custom field called "Principal".
I also add two more custom fields in the Email area.
Quit Address Book then relaunch. Add a new contact and the new custom fields, Principal, etc. are there. All good so far.
I have a Now Contact file with about 200 contacts in it. I export all fields as a Text file, Tab delimited. No problems there. With Address Book launched, select Import, pick the text file, leave Text Encoding on Automatic and click Open.
The window that shows the fields for Address Book and fields for the text file side by side opens. This is where you match up the correct fields for importing. If I go to one of the fields from the text file that I created a custom field for, click under the Address Book heading on the Do not import, scroll thru the Apple choices of fields, none of the custom fields show up. Only the original Apple ones are there. Why does Apple let you create them in the Template area but not have them available for importing? Does anyone have suggestions on getting around this?While most likely not of interest to you, Spotlight can also tell you where the files it finds are located
Hover the mouse pointer over the name, and press Command-Option and the path to the file will be displayed.
As for opening a terminal session in the directory where a file is located, there is Applescripts that do just that as well as specific features in Lion/Mountain Lion terminal:

I was given a $20 iTunes Gift Card for my birthday, I setup a new Apple ID, redeemed my card and now Apple doesn't recognise my Apple ID and the $20 credit has disappeared. I've logged on using my Dad's Apple ID, but where has the $20 Gift Card gone? I try to redeem it again and get message that it has already been redeemed. Not impressed with Apple at all. I've sent 2 emails to their support, no response. I tried calling today and the call centre is closed.

This is a total pain in the ***. I've been using ios products since the launch of the iPhone 4 and they've suddenly changed to this nonsense? Why does Apple treat its users like they're 4 years old?
Those things are nothing new. People were doing that three years ago and Apple felt their security was sufficient then. I don't have a credit card on file so I'm not worried about anyone getting my credit card info.
I have sent my feedback to Apple. Their response included "this is policy. There is no way around the security measures." and "I have provided Apple's answer. There is no further escalation point or anyone I can transfer you to that is going to provide a different answer at this time." -

The kit is firmly inserted in thhe iPad's dock ? You could also try a reset and see if it's recognised after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I haven't had problems using the kit with SD cards from Canon cameras . What capacity is the card, and it's an SD or SDHC card - if it's an SDXC card that's formatted as ExFAT then it won't be recognised -

I recently got iPad (Third Generation) because I was excited about the possibilities of reading so many books through the iBooks app. However, I have recently discovered that there are very few books on offer in the Nigeria Store - and they are mostly books available in the public domain.
For a couple of days, I thought it was a general iBooks problem (i.e. iBooks did not have so many books as I had originally thought) - but then I visited the US Store through a friend's account (who also lives in Nigeria) - and realized that a greaaat deal of books are available in the US Store (and other stores).
Why does iBooks offer very few books in Nigeria? Is there any way to work around this restriction? How can this complaint be forwarded to those who make decisions at iTunes?

Why does Apple require ISBNs when Amazon and B&N don't?
I'm sure this has been discussed, perhaps someone could point me to an answer.
Why does Apple require an ISBN when Amazon and B&N's digital stores don't. In many ways this eliminated many individuals or small presses from selling their books on iTunes. Does Apple specifically not want those not alligned with pre-digital publishing to be able to sell books on iTunes? Perhaps there is something I'm missing here.Fabini, by the fact that I've uploaded and sold dozens of eBooks on Amazon and B&N without ISBN numbers. They both don't require them for eBooks.
As per Amazon: “An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is not required to publish content with Kindle Direct Publishing. Once your content is published on the KDP web site, Amazon.com will assign it a 10-digit ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number), which is unique to the eBook, and is an identification number for the Kindle Book on Amazon.com. If you already have an ISBN for your eBook, you’ll be able to enter it during the publishing process. Do *not* use an ISBN for the print book edition.”
As per barnesandnoble.com's PubIt!: “You do NOT need an ISBN to sell your eBook through PubIt!. If you don’t have an ISBN, just tell us that you don’t have one by answering No when prompted. In that case, Barnes & Noble will assign an internal 13-digit identifier to your title for you when you submit the title to go on sale.”
Apple is the only of the "big three" eBook distributers that requires an ISBN and that is a bad call and reduces that "democratic" power of eBook publishing. I hope they change the policy soon. Anyone know who the best person to email about this issue would be? -
Why can't we use iTunes gift cards with family sharing? After Christmas, we now have lots of account credit we can't use. Very frustrating. There is no option found for using account credit.
I just logged out of my daughter's account and back in, and now it works. Deducted from gift card account balance. So I hope this is resolved.

I use Pro Logic 9.1.8. and see that to upgrade to Pro Logic X I need to buy the full package again. Does apple offer special conditions for their Apple clients ? Are users of apple care protection plan better served ?

I choose to use LP9 with Snow Leopard myself (10.6.8 and 9.1.6) for most of my commercial work simply because I find that combo very stable and provides the best overall performance for my setups here... but I am also using LPX with Mavericks as part of my client support and that works fine too although with a drop in performance due to the heavier demands made on the hardware by the newer OS X and LPX graphic routines for example.. -
Why does Flip-Pa Scanner's SD card down load photos to Organizer even though the photos are already in Organizer. My preferences are to not load again photos already in Organizer. My camera SD card loads photos only one time.
My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!
