Why does Apple-T not bring up Fonts pallette in Outlook 2011?

In most apps, Apple-T brings up a palette for choosing and manipulating font properties. In Microsoft Outlook, when typing text into a Calendar appointment for example, this doesn't work and I have to activate it through a context menu item. How can I keep MS Outlook from hijacking the apple-T? The palette works fine in the Calendar text field, so I know it's not incompatible, it's just the keypress that doesn't work. Any way to make it work as in other programs?

If you have an iPhone/iPad it may be possibel to 'Airplay' from teh Amazon Prime app on the device - no Amazon Prime in UK so I can't confirm it works. Check reviews of the app in iTunes. Airplay is not something I like much as you have to have another device to work with the AppleTV.
As to why there is no native support for Amazon Prime on the AppleTV itself, we could ask the same for any number of services, but:
1 - Apple/Amazon are competitors to some extent so they may not want to
2 - It may simply not feature in Apple's plans for the device
3 - Rights owners may not allow Apple/Aamzon to collaborate
.....and dozens more possible reasons I suspect, none of which really make sense to you an I as a consumer...

Why does Apple Tv not show folders created in iPhoto 11?

Hi,
I am new to Iphoto. So far used Picasa and would like to change. I have created Albums (2012.7 sommer holiday , 2012.6 birthday son, 2011.10 birtthday daughter, 1999 wedding etc). Since there are hundreds of albums (lot of pics in the last 45 years), I've put these albums into folders (family picture 1999, family picture 2000, family picture 2001 etc etc). So the list in iPhoto is not too long and I can find quickely whatever album or picture I am looking for. That works great on the iMac using Iphoto but when I want to watch the picture on Apple TV, Apple TV is not showing the folders instead it is just ignoring totally the yearly folders and shows the whole list of all albums. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone has experience with that?

There seems to be no real solution, but I have discovered a work around which I have tested. The photo albums themselves won't live in separate folders, but you can create an album with the same name as your folder with a single photo in it, so that the albums are separated. I also like to add the year first to chronologically order them. I know that this may take a while as you have so many photos, but I hope that helps as I was having the same problem.

Quick post, Bluetooth won't work on my new ipad air, trying to connect to sound bar, works on all other non apple devices!?
Have iMac, ipad 2, ipad air and iPhone, non of the apple devices have ever worked properly when trying to use Bluetooth?
Can someone help, already tried apples troubleshooting, no joy!
Apple seriously get on this, your products are way too expensive for basic features not to be working!?

There are various issues, both accessing this forum using iDevices as well as even on the PC/Mac side. The issues seems to be the fault of the forum software itself (Jive software) so there's not much that can be done about it other than wait for fixes (which we've been doing for quite awhile now).

Closing windows in Expose using key press (or why does apple-W not work?)

I often end up with lots of Safari windows open & need to prune them down. (Yes I use tabbed browsing too .
So I thought I'd use Expose, see the windows I needed to close, select the one I wanted to close and hit apple-W which works fine to close a window when not in Expose. However for me it doesn't work in expose (though its fine when not in expose).
This leads to a rather slow process of going into expose, selecting the window you want to close, coming out of expose, then hitting apple-W to close that window, then going back to expose.
I'd much rather just go into expose, hover over the window I want to close (or use cursor keys to pick the right one) and hit apple-W; then I can close a few windows without having to leave expose.
Has anyone ever figured out a way to get apple-W - or any key press at all - to close the currently selected window in expose?
BTW I know you can quit an application in Expose; which is great. However in this case I want to close just a selected window in expose (e.g. a particular safari window), not the whole application.

Why does apple tv not recognize my apple id?

I'm using Apple TV and trying to share it on my network. Why doesn't it recognize my id when I put it in. It was working before but I couldn't get it to recognize my laptop so I reset my account and now it says it doesn't exsist. I'm on wireless all the way around. The account works fine for my laptop's iTunes. Any help would be welcome. Jason

HT202157 Why does apple TV not come with the micro cable?

I spent 100 bucks on this thing. It would be nice to know if i need the cable to watch my TV. This thing just stopped working. I'm going to return this and go get the chrome cast (35 dollars and it works). This is a major pain to have to go out and buy one.

Apple doesn't supply the cable because only a handful of people ever need one and of those that do the vast majority will already have one.
For the overwhelming number of users who don't need or already have a cable this represents a saving when they purchase their Apple TV which of course then doesn't include the price of a cable.
For the very few users who do need to purchase a cable, they have lost nothing because they are only paying for something they would have had to pay for when they bought the Apple TV, if a cable was included in the box.

Why does apple not allow 3D

A statement from the Smithsonian: "....iPad. Although these devices technically fully support 3D graphics in the web browser, due to a restriction of Apple it is not currently possible to use the Smithsonian X 3D explorer on iOS devices." Why does Apple not allow Smithsonian X 3D to run on MAC iOS devices? It runs on other OS such as Android etc.

If you know so little about the topic why even respond? Just to take sides? How do you even know your on the right side? Because you bought an iDevice and must obey your master?
Firstly 63% of video on the web is not HTML5. There is no such thing as HTML5 video.
HTML has a new tag called <video></video>. This tag allows the playback of videos converted to a specific codec. In safari it is h.264, in chrome it is VP8, in firefox it is OGG.
Each browser can only handle their codec, so a video that runs in the enw <video> tag in safari will not run in chrome or firefox unless another video is also present that has been converted to the correct format.
Adobe Flash can play all of them, or any one of them in any browser. Or you can just use .flv and have only one video that plays everywhere.
As such Adobe Flash plays back h.264 video, and has been doing so way before anyone heard of HTML5. Most hardware today has built in support for this codec as well, making it the best performig codec to be used for video.
With or without HTML5, h.264 is and has been becoming the "standard" codec for all video.
So to say 63% of video is HTML5 is a half truth. If you only cinsider safari then yes, 63% of the videos that flash plays can also be played in safari. However that same 63% can not be seen by anyone else as they require a different codec.
This says that h.264 is the dominant codec, because 63% of all video uses it. However you still need to support the other 37% of video which is not h.264, and you still need to support the other 63% of video for those who dont use safari.
The best option to bring all this together is Flash. It's the one stop shop for all video across all screens.
And Flash out performs HTML5 players 10 to 1 on every product on the planet except Apples.... where it somehow becomes a huge resource hog.... but then that may have something to do with Apple not wanting any media consumption to come from anywhere than their pocket.

In Address Book, why does Apple let you create custom fields in the Template cards but not have them available for importing?

I open Address Book, go into Preferences, select Template and under the Names field (friend, assistant, father, etc) I add a custom field called "Principal".
I also add two more custom fields in the Email area.
Quit Address Book then relaunch. Add a new contact and the new custom fields, Principal, etc. are there. All good so far.
I have a Now Contact file with about 200 contacts in it. I export all fields as a Text file, Tab delimited. No problems there. With Address Book launched, select Import, pick the text file, leave Text Encoding on Automatic and click Open.
The window that shows the fields for Address Book and fields for the text file side by side opens. This is where you match up the correct fields for importing. If I go to one of the fields from the text file that I created a custom field for, click under the Address Book heading on the Do not import, scroll thru the Apple choices of fields, none of the custom fields show up. Only the original Apple ones are there. Why does Apple let you create them in the Template area but not have them available for importing? Does anyone have suggestions on getting around this?

While most likely not of interest to you, Spotlight can also tell you where the files it finds are located
Hover the mouse pointer over the name, and press Command-Option and the path to the file will be displayed.
As for opening a terminal session in the directory where a file is located, there is Applescripts that do just that as well as specific features in Lion/Mountain Lion terminal:

BTW- Your profile shows you have iOS 6.1.4 installed. The max iOS for an iPad is 6.1.3. iOS 6.1.4 is for iPhones only.

yes, the charger was working before.
so far i have:
1. updated my software
2. updated to battery 1.2
3. took off the "duck" plug and used the macbook pro cord that was provided
4. checked and cleaned the pins on the magsafe

Try signing out and then back in again by going into Settings>Store>Apple ID:>Sign Out>

Why does apple not remove the malware Genieo

Why does apple not remove the malware Genieo - it takes over the Safari browser even with extensions turned off - firefox works fine but the malware is still alive and kicking on my mac. Should I just uninstall safari and hope the malware is not doing more damage in the background?

Apple has never had anything to do with Genio. It is sneakily installed with other apps you think would be helpful. It is very sickening, IMHO.
