I can understand the fear of messing up a computer when I first started seriously working on computers back in the early 90's I had to format and re-install my operating system twice a day for quite a while before I figured out a very important step (at least important for me), and that was after I made a change to my computer to restart it. This way if I messed something up I only had to undo one thing and not 50 because I went wild on it. lol
Anyways, do not be afraid of your computer all you need to do is learn that step, how to keep your personal items backed up and then of course how to re-install your computer back to factory and you can always start over with a fresh build.
On to your questions:

Do you see the issue every time you close captivate or is it only in some scenarios? Does it show any error messages? What captivate version are you using (64 bit or 32 bit)? Can you provide some more information or screenshots which can help us reproduce the issue.

When recording a slideshow, why does audio stop recording after about 30 seconds even though slides and presentation continues?

I'm doing everything the same and have made many successful slideshow recordings using Keynote, but since updating the Yosemite and then updating Keynote the audio just stops recording after about 30 seconds.
The slides keep on changing and recording the video, but after 30 seconds the audio stops recording even though it seems to be registering the sound and the mic is not muted in Keynote.
Is there some change or new setting I am not aware of that needs to be altered?
Any advice would be helpful as I need to record a lot of presentations.

I can't imagine this will work as the the application is tied into a specific computer and user ID to prevent unauthorised use of single use applications. Copying over has not worked with previous versions of Keynote.
It worked for me. I guess it could be because we bought our Macs together and have home sharing or something. Either way, I'm running Yosemite but with Keynote 6.2.2. and not updating again until Apple do something about this bug.

Hi guys,
I have a mid-2010 MBP with MAC OS X 10.7.3 and itunes10.5.3 (3).
I've started to get this strange issue. When monitor goes to sleep, itunes playback stops.
I tray to change enervy saver option and I did this,
- computer sleep after 3h
- monitor sleep after one minute.
- itunes plays music
After one minute, monitor goes to sleep and so does itunes, why this is happening to me ?!?!?
This thing makes me crasy, since with other program playback (see VLC) I don't get this.
Please somebody help me in undestanding and solving this!!!

The problem is that in lion "monitor sleep" means HDMI sleep too. So when you're listening to music with HDMI when your monitor goes to sleep, so it does your HDMI and audio through it!!

Why does Playback stop when I have an external MIDI channel?

I finally have to try to sync up external gear with Mainstage 2.2.2. This time it's sending midi clock to an Akai MPK25. I set up the external midi instrument channel, set the channel's midi out to port 1 on the Akai, set the Akai to external clock. The Akai seems to pick up the tempo (mostly) but my Playback instances that start with Play action cut out after about 1 measure (yes they're set to Loop).
Doesn't mater which instance. The clock keeps going but there's a substantial lag to the transport controls. After a few seconds I can retrigger the Playback that stopped and then it loops as it should.
As soon as I delete the external midi strip, everything is back to normal. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it fixable? Maybe an Akai thing?
I've wrestled with MS to get it gig-worthy for a year and some new bug always seems to pop up.
System:
iMac 20" Core2Duo 2GHz, 4GB RAM

I try 2/3 things.
- monitor sleep after 1 minute
- computer sleep after 3h
- itunes playing songs
.....after a minute, monitor sleep and so does itunes....
VLC doesn't have this issu (luckyly)....

Why does play stop when I close the Podcasts app - IOS 6

Whenever I leave the Podcasts app to answer an email, text, open Safari, etc., the podcast stops playing. This effectively stops me from using any other application on my phone, unless I want to also stop listening to the podcast. It won't continue playing in the background like the Music app did. Of course, this is an IOS 6 issue.

I had the same problem the first night and my head almost exploded as playing podcasts is what my iphone is doing 95% of the time. I was also experiencing a lack of control not being able to jump back or ahead which was maddening. However, the next morning, after syncing the phone with my iTunes (on a MacBook Pro) all of this functionality was there, including the ability to have the podcasts continue when exiting the app and the ability to control them with an inline remote on my earbuds.
Hopefully, this problem has already resolved itself for you. Unfortunately, it is my understanding that there still is no option for playlists at this time.

Why does quicktime stop when i'm watching streaming video?

I've been using quicktime rather than the flip4mac plugin to watch my MLB-TV subscription in fullscreen mode. Everything works fine for about 9-10 minutes and then the video stops and starts over as if the file is done playing even though it is a live baseball game. Is there a reason for this that any of you can help me with? If i just refresh the MLB page it starts working again but it is a pretty annoying problem. Would upgrading to Quicktime Pro address this at all? thanks

That's tough. MLB-TV is a pay service so not everyone can go there to figure the problem out on that particular site. Does anyone have any ideas as to sites that would have a similar live streaming feed yet is free so i can post a link and have people see if they are having better luck?

Why does video stop when a call comes in

I know the iPhone is a phone first and the rest follows, but it surprised me that the Iphone stopped recording a video I was making when a call came in.
I would like the choise to ignore the call an keep on recording.
I can't find a setting for this.

If I remember correctly, the download isn't complete. You'll have to go back to the Mac Apple Store, log in, and click on the Purchases tab. Once there, you should be able to resume the download. Do note, when successful, the installer app will run. I strongly recommend quitting the installer app, saving a copy to safe place, and then relaunching the downloaded one, which resides in /Applications. If you run the installer w/o saving a copy, you'll be forced to download it again, wasting resouces (time, bandwidth, and electricity) if you have to reinstall or use the recovery system, since the ill-designed installer (just like Lion's) blows itself away during the installation process.

Just got a new 160GB Classic that only plays audio books for 5-minutes, cuts off, the after a while goes to next chaptor. is there a fix?

BTW, I'd be very concerned about a C drive with only 9 gigs of free space! That's a time bomb waiting to go off.
I'd never operate with less than 25-30 gigs of free space -- and I'm make sure to run Disk Cleanup and the Defragmenter regularly. 9 gigs is barely enough room for the operating system to breathe, let alone to open an intensive program like Premiere Elements.

I can't say that I have seen this issue before, but I would make sure that you have the correct drivers for your mouse, if it requires any. Some 3rd party mice need their own driver. Also make sure that there isn't a program that enables extra mouse features running that might be causing this behavior. Have you tried different mice? (PS/2, USB, etc) You might also want to upgrade to the latest version of the service pack for NT, I believe the most current is 6,

Why does LR crash when Import command is used? The only solution I can see is to restart my PC. Issue pre-dates latest LR upgrade.

LR has stopped working several times when I use the Import command (button and from File menu) - Windows gives the options of waiting or closing LR. I have waited for 30 mnutes but nothing happens. This pre and post-dates the latest LR upgrade. I'm using Windows8 and have only had problems in recent days. The only solution I can see is to restart my PC. What's happening - any ideas?

Yes, I imported some .CR2 files taken from home to the office and imported them into an existing catalog there. And yes, they're shown okay. Plus other 2006 files (from the same camera, I usually import into both) are okay too. There are some .XMP files in some 2006 folders, but not many. I will take the catalogue (sorry, got caught up in the Yank spelling) from home to the office on Monday and try importing that, hadn't thought of that. The photo's won't be in the same folder structure though and not all will be there.
Apologies for not answering the other question, I am a person who came from the Pixmantec RawShooter background and would have still been using that program then. The .RWSettings folders are still in the folder structure. I am pretty careful with my .CR2 files and try not to use any programs that would directly edit them. I have backups on DVD, but I haven't tried them. I also have another copy of some 2006 files on another HDD and have tried importing them tonight into the new catalog with no change in behaviour.
I will also try setting the camera date to 2006, take some new pics and see what happens.

Why does Illustrator crash when opening a file on Windows 8.1

This morning I opened Illustrator and opened the file I was working on and the app crashed. It happened even when I tried to make a new document. I have CC, CC 2014 and CC (64-bit) and they all do the same thing. I'm running a Surface Pro 2 on Windows 8.1. Any ideas?

I don't get a error message from the program itself. Windows decides to shut down illustrator. If I had just bought myself a mac...

I've installed Design and web CS6. Each program works without issues except illustrator.
