Why Does Audio Suddenly Drop Out?
OK, geniuses: Running an Ensemble with 7.2.1 on a G5 Dual 2GHZ, 10.4.7. Without warning, I hear a crack and the audio dissappears. iTunes, Logic, almost any (see below) audio, until I restart the G5. Then everything is hunky-dory until the next time. This happens every fifteen minutes or so. ALTERNATIVELY, instead of a complete drop out of audio, I get an unbelievable level of distortion, liike blown output transistors.
Clues: -Apogee has generously replaced what they thought was a bad unit - new unit makes no difference!
-Presence of additional Firewire drives, control surfaces, etc. makes no difference.
-Ensemble WILL continue to pass live audio, ie. an open mic, just not anything from Logic or iTuens of the Audio/MIDI SetUp config noise.
-Latency has no effect. I've changed it from 128 to 1024.
-I AM using the brand new driver for Ensemble, and using all their particulars for starting up Ensemble prior to the G5, etc.
Ideas?
Power Mac G5 Dual 2 Ghz Mac OS X (10.4.7)
Yeah, that's what I originally though when I acquired the Ensemble and used the driver then available. Since then there have been several updates, all incresing stability, and particularly valuable is the latest, which makes it possible for me to solve the problem by restarting the Ensemble, rather than having to reboot the G5.
Also, it wouldn't explain why everything works OK on the MacBook Pro, would it?
Significantly, about half the time, instead of dropping all the way out, the audio just becomes hugely distorted.
Ideas?

Why does my graphic drop out as a pdf?
I created 4 graphics in Illustrator CS3, downloaded them onto a CD cover template and saved as an .ai file which looks fine. When I attempt to then save it as a pdf, one of the graphics drops out. Appreciate your feedback.
When I click on Windows, 'Links' is not checked off. When I click on
'Links' and open the panel, all 4 graphics are listed but there are no icons to
the right of these file names.

Why does my email drop out when I access my group contacts list
Why does my email drop out when I access my group contacts list
Hi Helen
I think (from the other forum you posted to previously) that you are asking how to send email to a group in your address book, or other group of email addresses? You will need a third party app to do this, a number of which are available from the App Store.
Our MailShot Pro app is unique, as it can turn addressbook groups into special contacts that you can use from any Mail-compatible app on your iPad (Such as Mail, Photos, Maps etc.) as though the ability to send to groups were built into your device.
You can find MailShot Pro here on the App Store

I have produced a video using FCE 4 that is approximately 34 minutes in length. Pretty standard football highlights video with 10 separate chapters. The projects ends with a number of photos set to music (approx the last 4 minutes of the video).
The final product plays just fine in FCE, in the .mov file, and after exporting to iDVD. I have burned 3 disks so far in iDVD and about 31 minutes in (after several photos) the music track cuts out. I have done several projects like this before and never experienced a sudden drop out of the music. I am using the new iLife 11 which I believe iDVD is the same as '09.
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here? I read that it may have to do with Chapters which makes little sense because the .mov file and iDVD versions play fine.
Any help would be appreciated!OK, here is what I have done and I am still experiencing the same exact issue:
1. Created 35 minute video using FCE 4. Couple hundred pieces of video sewn together in the first 9 chapters and about 240 photos (shown at 2 second intervals) in the last chapter of the video
2. Created both a mixed down and non-mixed down version
3. Exported using Quicktime Movie
4. The .mov versions of both movies play all the way through with no issues. Entire video, audio, and music all in tact and play seamlessly
5. Created DVD's using iDVD.
6. About 104 picture into the last chapter, or at the 31:08 mark the pictures continue to the end and the audio (music) mutes. This happens exactly at the same time on both the mixed down and non mixed down versions.
7. I went back to test the original FCE file and it is good all the way through, I also tested the .mov versions and both (mixed down and non mixed down versions) are good, I also tested the iDVD file and both versions play all the way through on my iMac.
8. DVD's both lose the audio at the same time.
Aaaaarggggghhhhh! Thanks in advance for any helpful solutions. -
Why does my call drop out (one ring only then cuts...
I had an important conference call - dialled the +1 852 number but call keeps dropping out after 1 ring. Not very good!
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi, GCA, and welcome to the Community,
Not all conference call bridge systems recognize Skype calls; this detail depends upon the land line telephone network and/or the particular conference bridge system. I have read similar reports of callers not being able to use multi-tiered insurance company telephone systems, although I have not had this experience.

Why does apple tv drop out when music playing but movies ok ?
wifi signal is 3 from 5 so seems ok
movies play back ok
music replay will drop out/stop occasionally
playing from my macbook pro and itunesThe Apple TV is connected to my network on ethernet. After the Apple TV has restarted it will work for a while until it is either unselected from AirPlay or until after the movie is finished and I have disconnected it from home sharing. It's just inconvenient to have to restart it every time you want to use it.

Why does audio suddenly die when skimming clips?
Selecting a clip on a word or music beat is vital to getting the clip length right and in the right place in the project. Suddenly the audio is gone when you skim with the cursor and will only come on when you press play, making it impossible to accurately select the clip to be moved.
If you quit iMovie and then start again it comes back ... sometimes! I am using two firewire hard drives [500gig and 1000gig] for the events, leaving the mac drive [250gig] 140g to work with. Is there something I am missing? You may have already done this, but to hear the audio while skimming clips you need to turn on Audio Skimming.
There are two ways to do this. In iMovie's menu go to View and select Audio Skimming (the second to last item in the View menu) - the shortcut is Command-K. Otherwise click on the Audio Skimming icon to turn it off and on. It's on the right-hand side in the strip of icons running through the centre of the iMovie window, directly to the left of the green audio bars. It's shaped like a waveform with a red vertical line through it.
You need to skim through clips reasonably slowly, otherwise the audio cannot be heard. It's also helpful when working with audio to turn on the waveforms beneath the video thumbnails. The icon for this is at the bottom right of the Project window, and also at the bottom right of the Events window (to the left of the thumbnail sliders).

Re: Why does my call drop out (one ring only then ...
That solution.... wow.... I keep trying to call someone but the call keeps getting dropped. And when they call me the call goes to voicemail even if I answer. It didn't do this about 5 minutes before this and I had not moved whatsoever.
Hi, Shadowstorm, and welcome to the Community,
You added your post to a topic (thread) which was related to teleconference bridges - so I arranged to transfer your post to create its own new thread. Please confirm you are attempting to call a Skype Number ... or your topic is still posted to the wrong message board!
If you are attempting to call a Skype Number and are experiencing these difficulties, have the owner of the Skype Number contact Skype Customer Service to report this problem. Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
Proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. When you complete the webform and click Submit, your information is relayed to Skype and you will receive a reply via e-mail.
If they are a Skype Premium or other eligible customer, please let them know that they will be routed to start an instant message chat session with a Customer Service agent.
Thank you for clarifying.
Kind regards,
Elaine

Why does audio drop out when scrubbing iMovie events?
Why. does audio drop out when scrubbing iMovie events?
If the audio returns if you slow down scrubbing you are probably just scrubbing too quickly.

why does fcpx suddenly stops reading audio files? ever since i upgraded to Yosemite. Than when I check it on my hard drive it doesn't work as well. Only this file. Am in a trouble of delivering now. Any help?

FAQ: Why does audio or video not go to the track where I drop it?
(Premiere Pro CS5.5, and earlier)
See this video:
Why does audio not go to the track where I drop it?Premiere Pro CS6, and later
Update
We have Standard Tracks as the default audio track type for most sequence presets in Premiere Pro CS6, and CC so the situation described in the above video does not happen too frequently any more.
A related issue does happen with frequency, however:
Issue
Some users have trouble dragging a clip into the Timeline with audio. Only the video or audio portion of the clip appears.
Solution
Make sure video and audio is patched in the Timeline, then drag the clip to the Timeline. In certain cases it is not automatically patched. -
Flash audio level drop outs (Windows 8.1)
Hey,
Using adobe flash, I've been having issues with to audio nearly dropping out to nearly inaudible levels on mutiple websites. Anything that does use the flash player, it seems to be triggered when I plug in another device into the computer for use, or charging although it doesn't seem to be 100% consistant and seems less likely after reinitiating the flash player, but would happen after having the flash player open for a longer period of time then attaching a device. My current work around is to either load up a different browser e.g. Google Chrome, which will use it's own plugin container containing another instance of flash. Or to end task on flash from my task manager, then reload the page. which would restore proper audio levels. This does not appear to be specific to one webpage, or to one brower.

While steams loader was active in the background it would cause the flash audio to drop out. I don't know any reason why it would cause this, but have just disabled steam from starting up at all. Any insight on why these two programs would clash and cause audio issues would be greatly appreciated.

Why does my iBookPro drop its WiFi connection so often?
My question: why does my iBookPro drop it WiFi connection so often, and what can I do to prevent it (or at least extend the duration of active connection)?
I have an iBookPro running OSX 10.9.5, with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM. I think my iBookPro is about 3 or 4 years old.
What seems to happen is that I will use my iBookPro accessing mail & websites for a few minutes, and then when I try to send an e-mail, mail puts up a message that it cannot send mail with the selected server, so I need to either try a different server or try later. Meanwhile I notice that the WiFi signal indicator shows full service, but when I run diagnostics it shows that the internet is not connected. Opening the WiFi icon in the top menu bar shows that it is looking for Networks. After an indeterminate time it finds the network I have had highlighted and logged into (my WiFi -5G router) since I opened my iBook when I arrived at my office.
I often find I have to turn WiFi off, then back on, to get connection with the internet.
What's going on, and what am I missing?Hello jBookProAm,
If you are having issues with your MacBook Pro with maintaining a Wi-Fi connection, then take a look at the articles below to get it sorted out. The first article will talk about using Wireless Diagnostics, which you have already done, but also you look at the additional troubleshooting within the article for assistance. You may want to also create a new location as another troubleshooting option and those steps are in the second article.

Why does audio stop when pavilion 23xi sleeps (using Windows 8)
why does audio stop when pavilion 23xi sleeps (using Windows 8)?
Hello again @st3lla,
I can understand the fear of messing up a computer when I first started seriously working on computers back in the early 90's I had to format and re-install my operating system twice a day for quite a while before I figured out a very important step (at least important for me), and that was after I made a change to my computer to restart it. This way if I messed something up I only had to undo one thing and not 50 because I went wild on it. lol
Anyways, do not be afraid of your computer all you need to do is learn that step, how to keep your personal items backed up and then of course how to re-install your computer back to factory and you can always start over with a fresh build.
On to your questions:
Q - What are the steps to ensure that all HP updates are done.
A - Simply review the HP Support document: Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8) and it will guide you through the process.
Q - What are the steps to ensure that all Windows updates are done?
A - Simply review the Microsoft Support document: Windows Update: Frequently Asked Questions and again you will find answers to this question. (***Note: Do not worry if the document refers to Windows 8.1 it is only an upgraded version of Windows 8 and the steps are the same)
I am also including a Windows Support document: Install the latest Windows 8.1 Update, which will guide you through how to install the Windows 8.1 update on your computer.
And finally, to put your mind at ease I am providing you with two important HP Support documents: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), and Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will provide you with all the instructions you need to backup your personal files so you do not loose them if you ever do mess up the computer, as well as provide you with instructions on how to put your computer back to how it came from the factory.
Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank you once again for your post on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
Please click the "Thumbs Up" on the bottom right of this post to say thank you if you appreciate the support I provide!
Also be sure to mark my post as “Accept as Solution" if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others who face the same challenge find the same solution.
