(why does) Bridge CS4 damages Canon D50-RAW Files ! ?
I turn to this forum because i’m desperate and clueless…
I shoot with a canon d50 in RAW (cr2). I then copy the media files via card reader on my laptop in to the shootings folder,
There into a subfolder:
There i cyop my files. I watch them with BRIDGE (and only watching no hue/crop, or whatsoever) (RAW PlugIn v5.5) and because after 12 GB of shooting my laptop-harddrive
gets full i copy the files onto my extern hard-disk (lacCie rugged)
Does Bridge write somethin into my files ??? even when i only watch them ?
BECAUSE, PROBLEM:
The files i copied onto the externel, i change in Bridge to wathc this new folder and SUDDENLY the raw files LOOK VERY STRANGE:
The preview renders fine the suddenly the fine preview renders thme into some strange chunk of error…
WELL…
not so cool. why is that ?
Thanks for your help…
Patrick
from Switzerland:-)
PS:
• in aperture, lightroom, canon prof. it looks everywhere the same…
• I dont think is the smart card/ copy process… i had this before… i wathced the raw files via bridge oon my laptop… everythin ist fine … BUT when i copy them to the external harddisc … and watch then… the files are corrupted the same way
• is there an interface, RAW, problem with the canon d50? I know there was a delay/problem developing for the all new cr2 foramt from canon…
Sorry Patrick, Did not see the previews before, only saw the thread via
email and they don't show the samples you provide.
After seeing those files it looks definitely like corrupted images. I cannot
imagine Bridge to cause this. Rereading your post, it more looks the result
of a bad functioning write/read process on the external HD or a bad USB
cable.
Assuming you have back up could you test this on either an other HD or a
DVD. Just copy the files again to those devices and retry. That would proof
the fault lies with the external HD.
Could you report back on that?
Thanks for your tips. I tried, BUT didnt solve my problem.
Have you seen how the pictures are distracted ?
They seem hav gotten some kind of alien-verystrange-crazy-adjusments

Why does photoshop cs4 crash when opening a file? (Mac OS 10.6.8)
Why does photoshop cs4 crash when opening a file? (Mac OS 10.6.8) I've rebuilt pref.'s and reinstalled Photoshop with no positive results. I can create a new file but cannot "place" anything because that crashes as well.

Does elements 13 accept canon 70d raw file,as elements 11 does not
does elements 13 accept canon 70d raw file,as elements 11 does not,
Hi,
Yes, Photoshop Elements 13 should read raw files from the EOS 70D. You can always download the trial version and test it for yourself.

Does PSE 12 support Canon 70D RAW files?
Does anyone know for sure if PSE 12 supports Canon 70D RAW files? Thanks.
Sorry but I do not understand what XP or Vista has to do with my question. Stated another way, my question is, does the version of ACR that comes with the version of PSE 12 that is available for purchase at this moment definitely support Canon 70D RAW files?
FWIW, I am running Win 7 Pro 64 bit so PSE 12 will run on my system.
Thanks. -

Elements 11 doesn't support Canon 70D RAW files. Is it possible to ugrade, or do I have to purchase Elements 12?

Cs3 extended bridge not previewing canon 40d raw files
ok, i just loaded cs3 extended onto my laptop and when i opened bridge the fist time i got a error message that these were not the the right king of file. so my next step was to update ACR to 4.5. i intalled that and put the plugin into files directory. that worked, but now my problem is that bridge will not preview my raw files in bridge. i then went to tool and purge the cache and that also didn't work. so my next step was to update bridge to 2.1.1. so i went back to tool to purge the cache and it still not preview raws in bridge. i converted several to jpegs and they show up in bridge. i am at a loss of what to do next
thanksThe ACR plug in has to be in correct folder and only one copy there. If you copied it there the old copy my be present so delete or rename it.
The ACR plug in does not go in the plug in directory.
It goes in Program Files/COMMON Files/Adobe/plugins/CS3/file formats. Should be one file here - Camera Raw.8bi
I think when you get this sorted out it should work. -
Bridge CS4 won't open RAW files from Canon 70D
I have Photoshop/Bridge CS4 which used to read CR2 Raw files fine from old Canon 30D@. I've just purchased a Canon 70D. Bridge CS4 will read the MOV video files fine, but not the Raw CR2. I've downloaded and installed Adobe DNG Converter 8.5, but when I open it and it asks to open files to convert, the CR2 files are still unreadable and greyed out. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.9.4. Is there some way I could preview RAW files from the 70D in Bridge CS4, and open in Camera Raw?
You need to upgrade to PSE12. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software) You could also use the Canon software that came with your camera to convert to tiff, which would open in PSE11.
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

Why won't CS4 open the CR2 RAW files from my Canon G11?
I am running Snow Leopard V6.2. I have Adobe Design Premium with what I thought were all of the most recent updates loaded but when I tried to open one of the RAW files from my Canon G11 in PS CS4 it did not recognize the file type and it and would not open. Wouldn't CS4 premium update also update PS CS4 with all the most recent files including ACR and the latest definitions?
What version of ACR would have the latest RAW definitions for the G11 and how should it be loaded?Bennett Richards wrote:
What is the correct way of installing the ACR plugin? Just ru
n the DMG or is there a file that must be placed in
applications?
This is what is written on that page:
To open a DMG file:
Double-click the file. This will open Disk Copy, which mounts the image on your desktop.
Manual installation on Mac:
1. Exit Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Bridge.
2. Open the download file and double-click Setup, and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Launch Photoshop CS4 or Adobe Bridge.
Is that so difficult? -
Bridge CS4 no longer reading Raw files after reinstalling PS CS4
I recently uninstalled PSE8 (using Adobe installer) and was prompted to reinstall PS CS4. I did this and now Bridge is no longer reading my Raw files. I just get a white blank where the image should be. I tried reinstalling Raw Converter 5.6 but it still does not work.
I use a Canon T1i and am running Snow Leopard on my Mac.
Any ideas how I can get Bridge working again?
Thanks.debwarr3 wrote:
If this is the same thing as Adobe Camera Raw 5.6 (I'm assuming it is),
Of course it is.
debwarr3 wrote:
…but when I check the version of Camera Raw on Bridge CS4, it's only 5.0. I don't know why the update doesn't seem to "stick". Any suggestions?
You obviously have a bad installation of the Camera Raw plug-in.
You need to remove the ACR 5.0 plug-in, which somehow you did not remove when installing 5.6, and instal 5.6 in the correct location. Read the Camera Raw update instructions again, very carefully. The location is detailed exactly. Note that you start with the ROOT LEVEL Library, NOT your user library.
This screen shot is from an earlier post and it shows Camera Raw 5.1 installed. The path is the same for ACR 5.6. Note that you can only have one instance of the Camera Raw plug-in installed per version of Photoshop (5.6 for CS4, 4.x for CS3, 3.x for CS2) each in its respective folder.

Bridge CS4 and Nikon 7100 raw files
Well, I use normally Bridge CS4 (that was included in Elements 8) to organize my pics and to edit or open in camera raw of Elements 11. I normaly shot in raw format with my Nikon d90. Now I shoted some pics with the new Nikon D7100 and I can't use Bridge CS4. I tried to update but Bridge doesn't work. So now I'm obliged to use Elements 11 organiser. Any possibiity to update Bridge CS4?
Adobe products use Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) in various ways. Adobe does not work at, or promise, ACR will work in older or legacy versions of anything. Your 7100 is a brand new model and included in ACR 7.4 and 8.0. Whatever Adobe products you use will have to be upgraded to the latest ACR. With PSE and organizer 11, you have to install it and upgrade with Help > Updates to get 7.4.
It amazes me that people will invest so much in a new camera and its new features without giving any thought to the software they use to support the new camera and features. -

Why does Premiere CS4 fail to import video files from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3?
I've acquired a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It takes supherb HD video 1920x1080. But when I attempt to import the clips in Premiere CS4, I get the unsupported file error message. Am I missing a format spec in my project setup menu list? Or do I have to convert the files before importing and with what?

I have a Nikon D700 12 megapixel full frame camera which has a 12 – 14 bit depth. I usually shoot images with the Nikon raw file format (NEF) with the color space setting at Adobe RGB (1998). When I select a photo to look at the details of the metadata in Adobe Bridge the bit depth is indicated as 16 and the color as RGB. Opening up the picture in Photoshop displays the long narrow detail line down the near the bottom of the screen. It indicates that the color is 8 bit but still Adobe RGB (1998).
Can someone please explain these fluctuations? This is still a NEF file I am referring to.
Thanks. With Camera Raw open, you'll need to set the Color Space and Bit Depth is it to open as in Photoshop. See image:
Edit: Also, a raw file contains raw data - no embedded color profile. At least not that any programs, except Nikon's, will recognize.

Adobe Bridge CS4 Not converting camera raw files right?
I run an HP computer with Windows Vista 64 bit and have CS4. We also have a Canon 40D camera and shoot in camera raw format. When I download the images Bridge converts them into usable images. The last two times I've downloaded images, after converting them, Bridge showed a few of them as either not readable at all or with large chunks of the image whitened out. My husband shoots college football games and takes anywhere from 300 to 600 pictures at each game. October 14th was the first time we had problems, 5 or 6 shots out of 250 were showing up as corrupted. This last weekend there were 15 out of 307 images corrupted. Thinking that the card is going bad or we have a problem with the camera, we purchased a card rescue program Sandisk recommends to see if we could recover any of the images. It shows that all 307 images are on the card and in good condition. But, when I ran the recovered file through Bridge there were 31 images that are showing up as corrupted. I'm beginning to think there might be a problem in the conversion process and that it is getting worse each time it runs. Is this possible and if so, what can I do to correct it?
Thanks for any help,
LindaThanks Curt for the quick reply.
After a very stressful afternoon it appears that the card recovery program I downloaded just accesses the thumbnails on the card when it previews them, not the actual images. It would have been nice if they told me that before I forked out the money for it, but.... So although it was telling me they were there, they were not. It wasn't until I viewed the files in Bridge that the corrupt images were showing up. It is also showing more corrupt images than actually are. When I view the card in Bridge I'm still seeing the original corrupt images. We are leaning toward a bad battery grip with our camera. He is going to shoot without it the next time he does a game and see if we still have the problem.
Thanks again for your reply. -
PS & Bridge CS4 refuses to update Raw file plugin from 5.0 to 5.4
I have been using PS CS4 for some months now, and updated the plugin some time ago. Anyway, something occurred several days ago (cant honestly remember what now) that led to me reinstalling CS4. After which I did an update from help/updates. This downloaded the PS update 11.0.1 and subsequently the Raw update. Unfortunately, although PS goes through the motions of updating and is clearly downloading the update and apparently installing, the Raw filter update is still consistently showing version 5.0 in PS. I have repeated the process several times and even reinstalled PS, but it has made no difference. Any idea anyone?
If you are just running Photoshop uninstall then reinstall.
if that does not work run the CS4 cleanscript
