Why does browser try to "help" me fill in documents?

I used to pull up my weekly payroll forms and just fill them in. NOW, I can't do that anymore...the browser helps me fill inthe blanks, andI spend frustrating time trying to effectually erase what the browser is guessing I'm trying to type. I just want to tab, tab along and fill out my weekly payroll forms (wh347) at the federal wage and hour division.

Because that's how it works. No such thing as a free lunch. If you don't agree you don't get your points.

    Hello,
In order to check if the Reports executed is the one you have modified, I suggest to copy the Reports in a specific directory (/tmp on UNIX , c:\temp on Window) and execute the Reports providing the "full path name " :
    report=/tmp/myreport.rdf
If you can see the modifications you have done when executing the reports like this, check if there is a REP with the same name , check if the Reports you have modified is the first with this name in the REPORTS_PATH

  • Why does the error console continuosly keep filling up ? in yellow, pink & blue messages ??

Ok, first I am using an older, slower Mac G4 400 Mhz, PCI, "YIKES" model machine. ..... The problem is that after browsing mail for 1/2 hr., Fire Fox slows down a lot. Most likely related to my machine speed. I understand that and this machine is a backup computer. I can cure the speed problem by closing FF, and relaunching it, and speed is fine for another 1/2 hr. or more. Then repeat the close and restart for speed reset as needed. This seems to clear a backlog of info. slowing down the CPU.
THE REAL QUESTION IS; Why does the ERROR CONSOLE keep filling up with messages in pink, yellow and blue, warnings, errors, and (blue) website not supported messages ??.
The message copy & pasted in the trouble shooting info. box is the first one to show up immediately after "clearing error console" window (5 seconds later), it will be filling up as I type now. and I don't know squat about coding or deep workings of computers, I am to old to start learning now, but it just seems to me that the "ERROR console" should not be filling up with every mouse click I make while browsing mail & websites I use everyday, that are working just fine as far as I can tell.
I have watched the error console fill up as I brows, usually 1 mouse click can produce 4 to 8 lines in the error console, clearing it out doesn't seem to affect the speed problem at all, so is unrelated to speed (??) I think.
But the Question is ??? why does the ERROR CONSOLE keep filling up with all these messages when FF seems to be working fine ????????
There are now 15 (PINK) separate lines of the same message in the console window, just while typing this out. 0

  • C7 powersave: why does it try to connect?

Still experimenting with my new C7.  The battery was getting a little bit low - 40% - so I activated Power Saving.  Immediately, a little 'connect' pop-up appeared, connecting to my local wifi for a few seconds, then disconnecting.
Why does it do this?  Can/should it be stopped? I don't mind this happening at home or even in the UK, but it will be very annoying and expensive if it happens abroad.
    Kate

or either there is a program affecting and trying to connect or must be a bug
what you can try is when pop up the icon top left, inticating that is trying to connect ... is to click this icon
should take you to connection manager and there should see what program is trying to connect
then from its settings i guess you can ajust it
    also try in the menu>settings>connectivity>>settings>
switch to wlan only or manual
    data use i home>always ask
    data abroad always ask
and down check at destinations at the internet access the priority

  • Why does Flash try to automatically try to install google toolbar and Chrome

I am reaching the point where I will remove Adobe and adobe flash if they continue to automatically try to place google tool bar or google chrome on my machine. I have had to stop the download manually every time I do a adobe flash update because it tries to download the google toolbar or google chrome. I already have google chrome which I hate and use sparingly because of extensions like "Ace Race" which are invasive. I hate google's attempts to invade my space and spy. So why does Adobe keep pushing Google applications?

don't allow flash player to automatically update.
update manually after you tire of seeing warning messages about your flash player being vulnerable.  when you update always untick tag-along ware, Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions
or use Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe so you don't have to remember unticking the tag-along ware.

  • Why does safari try to open my Norton File Guard protected file?

When I start up my Mac Powerbook (OSX 10.5.8), Norton File Guard reports that Safari (version 5.0.6) is trying to open one of my Norton-guarded files, which happens to be an InTouchWith data file with the extension .itw. (InTouchWith is an older Contact Management application from Prairie Group Software). Why would Safari try to open this file, and how do I find out what other un-guarded files Safari is 'secretly' trying to open every time i launch Safari?  This is very disconcerting, to say the least, from a security standpoint.  This Powerbook can't run any Mac system higher than 10.5.8, and can't run any newer Safari version, so upgrading to gain newer security features of Safari, is out of the question.  When I launch Firefox ver. 3.6.28, (the newest version that is compatible with my Mac), Firefox doesn't trigger these Norton FileGuard error messages.

    Get rid of Norton.
Norton Antivirus (made by Symantec) has a very long and illustrious reputation for mangling Mac OS X systems, sometimes to the point where a complete reinstall is necessary. Among other things, it installs kernel extensions which are known to cause kernel panics and system freezes; it contains known and documented bugs which can silently corrupt Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign files, destroy a user's ability to authenticate as an administrator, and (on PPC systems) can cause Classic to stop functioning; and Symantec has on at least two occasions now released flawed .dat file updates which erroneously report certain critical Mac OS X files as "viruses." (Deleting these "viruses" causes damage to the system that in some cases renders it unbootable.)

  • Why does adobe try to force Google Chrome on to my computer and a Google Toolbar! Thats is fasist!

also why does adobe require so many updates! why can't they get it right the first five hundred time i update it!
why cant i update or down load with out having to get google tool bar to be spyied on? WTF? And Google Chrome if i wanted Google Chrome i down load it directly!
Google collecting and storing information is an invasion of privacy! If Adobe is so free thinking and so advanced, ask if we want ******** toolbars downloaded it sucks when you think your down loading something and get a new webpage and toolbars. Dont do business this way. Its arrogant & ignorant

Adobe never installed anything on my computer I didn't want.  You can always uncheck bundled software that is offered with the standard downloads, or use the offline installers that are not bundled with any 3rd party software.

  • Why does Firefox try to launch Adobe and/or Quicktime when I close Firefox? What is it loading into those programs?

When I shut down Firefox, it tries to start Either Adobe Reader, Quicktime, or both. It has done this ever since the first time I installed an used version 4. The applications do not actually launch, as in a window opening, but they are then present as a process in the system, and I have to close them from the Task Manager. It usually launches just one, but, if it's trying to launch one, and I use Task Manager to close it, it then launches the other. If I hurry and stop that one, Firefox reports that it messed up, and wants me to keep using the Internet for its own purposes that have nothing to do with what I was using the Internet for. This never happened under previous versions of Firefox. Do I need to revert to a previous version? I'm running Kaspersky Internet Security, and it shows I have no malware or the like on my computer, which could cause this. So, why is Firefox trying to do things I did not ask it to, and then expecting me to let it phone home to tell about it when I stop it. By the way, out of good practice, I often close down my Internet connection before closing Firefox, (in case I do get something like a Key Logger loaded, to prevent it from sending its final report before the cache is cleared), but this also happens when I have not yet closed my Internet connection before closing Firefox, so I do not think that is the issue, nor should it be. Your question below about when it happens does not provide for the answer "Every time Firefox Closes", so I picked the closest such answer.

This can be caused by clearing the cookies via [[Clear Recent History]].<br />
    * Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" > [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
You can try to exclude the cookies to test that.<br />
You can let all cookies expire when you close Firefox to remove unwanted cookies and keep the ones with an allow exception.
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
If you use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the cookies when you close Firefox then Firefox also tries to clear the cookies from plugins like Flash and starts a plugin-container process for each plugin and possibly for each cookie (?) and that can add extra time if there are a lot of cookies to remove and also can cause an unresponsive script error to appear.

  • What is "automountd" and why does it try to connect to "fakehome.dat"?

    Hi everybody,
Ever since i upgraded from 10.7.x to Lion (10.8.2), every time i start my laptop Little Snitch reports "automountd wants to connect to fakehome.dat on UDP port 111 (sunrpc)."
The IP address points to "Highwinds Network Group, Inc." (http://whois.domaintools.com/69.16.143.107)
I've seen some people blame this on SuperDuper, but i don't have SuperSuper installed.
Does anybody know what this is? I've been denying the connection on a day-to-day basis. Should i be allowing the connection?
    Thanks,
    Paul

What is happening is that OSX is trying to attach to all of the network storage paths you have available, probably to do something like populate the side bar in a save dialog. OSX hits a dead end so it asks the DHCP server for help. The DHCP server is probably at your ISP or perhaps something like OpenDNS.org if you set it up. Typically, they report back some ad-link crap for things they can't find. However, it looks like your ISP intentionally set up something that can't be used. That's a good thing, because OSX will immediately stop looking at that point.
If you are not connecting to file storage, the usual suspects are network files sharing turned on (if you don't need it, turn it off), Time Machine, AirDrop, iCloud, and Dropbox if you have LAN syncing turned on. Even with all of those things turned off, OSX will still try to contact the DHCP server (even though it shouldn't, yes, lil snitch has uncovered a flaw in OSX, harmless though it may be).
Generally, this is not a "problem" per se, but it can cause a delay in showing dialogs etc while DHCP is being queried, but far less than say an external drive that has fallen asleep. If you are not using network file storage outside of your local network, and not using named paths within it, it is probably okay to block traffic to the ISP's DHCP server for automountd (not other processes). You can try it, and if there seems to be a problem, Lil Snitch makes it easy to remove that rule. Should you add some network storage, or an app that does, in the future, then you will likely need to delete this rule.
As for the value of Lil Snitch, "3rd party" are not a dirty words. It is a valuable tool that can spot nepherious or excessive network traffic. My personal experience with it, it has found apps "phoning home", tracking images embedded in emails, runaway processes (hello Dropbox, I'm looking at you), and apps embedded in web pages. But like any tool, it's important to know how to use it. People of alerted to a process they aren't familiar with and are curious, so they do a web search. That's good and fine. Unfortunately, there are too many flippant answers like the one above that provide an solution to the symptom (uninstall the tool) rather than providing an answer to the question asked (what is this thing?).
If you don't understand something that doesn't make it pointless.

  • Why does browser.search.intab not appear to function in 8.0 ?

In Release 3.5 browser.search.intab set to 'true' causes a new tab to be opened when you do a toolbar search. That doesn't appear to be the case with 8.0.
    Extremely useful feature!!

    browser.search.openintab
True: When performing a search from the Search Bar, open the results in a new tab.
False (default): Open search results in the current tab/window.

I am using a Nexus 7 device. I have a website locally on the device together with all of the data files. When I use the browser to select a file it does not need to download it. When I leave that app then I expect it to go back to the browser and the HTML web page I was previou. sly viewing. It has done that at various times but has stopped now.
