Why does double-tapping home button on my iphone 5 not show app bar?
When I double-tap the home button on my iphone 5 it shows a search iphone screen but not the bar with the apps recently used. Why is this? How can I change that?
Hello blackforestbanker,
From previous experience in this issue i have found that people are not tapping the home button fast enough twice to be able to pull up the app bar at the bottom.
While on your home screen try to double click the home button twice pretty quickly. If that dont work try to reset your device with the home and power buttons held in at the same time for about 8 seconds and then when the apple logo comes on the screen release the buttons. When the phone is turned back on then try to double click the home button again an see if that has resolved the issue for you!
Hope this helps and have a great day!
Regards,
Gale Bertram

No camera shortcut button on lockscreen after double tapping home button
Even after double tapping home button on lock screen I get no camera shortcut, just Itunes controls. I have closed all applications and restarted Ipad and still wont show up. Pleeeeease Help very frustrating
You need to double click the home button. Have you tried that? The camera button does not appear by default. It pops up after the double click.
Hope this helps. -
U mean used apps running background if that Wht i do is double tap home button , then swipe it upwards
To close an app - Drag the app up from the multitasking display. Swipe up on the mini screen of the open app - not the app icon itself.

3.1.2 double clicking home button when music is not playing
Is the bug that double clicking home button while music is not playing didn't bring up the iPod control fixed? I don't know it's a design change or a bug, but for me it seems definitely a bug since it doesn't give anything good. Clicking home button once already terminates the application, why would anyone use double clicking to exit the application too?
This is why I'm still using 3.0. Is this fixed in 3.1.2?It's a design change, not a bug. Although I do have to agree with you on that I preferred what double-clicking the home button originally did. There is even settings (in general settings if I can remember right) on what double-clicking the home button performs, but that isn't even an option on it.
And nope this is not fixed or redesigned in 3.1.2.
Hope that answers your question,
Enjoy! -
3.1.3 double clicking home button when music is not playing
Is the bug that double clicking home button while music is not playing didn't bring up the iPod control fixed? For me, it seems definitely a bug since it doesn't give anything good. Clicking home button once already terminates the application, why would anyone use double clicking to exit the application too?
This is why I'm still using 3.0. Is this fixed in 3.1.3?Jeong-hun Sin, 3.1.3 has the same issue, and I do not think Apple is ever going to fix this issue. They still haven't even fixed the live updating playlist sort order issue...
roaminggnome he's referring to a pop-up controls issue that has been talked about on this forum ever since the release of the 3.1 firmware.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2151438
In 3.0 and older versions, if you're in an app/game you can double-click the home-button to access the iPod pop-up controls to resume the playback of a song/podcast that had been previously paused/stopped.
In 3.1, if a song had been previously paused you cannot launch the pop-up conrols to resume the playback of the song. You're forced to exit the app that you might be in (lets say safari, or a game), and then resume playback using the music app.
Jeong-hun Sin, I upgraded to 3.1.3 a few days ago, and have found a few improvements:
- Many 3D games are MUCH smoother/faster under 3.1.3, than 3.0. I downgraded back to 3.0 just to see if I was just imagining things, but games like Coconut-racer, and Asphalt 5 were not as smooth as they were under 3.1.3.
- If you happen run apps that have live video streaming where the video playback controls do not appear (e.g the BBC world, Al Jazeera news, sure there's more), the iPod Touch no longer randomly reboots when using those apps. -

Chnage double-tap home button shortcut
I know how to change double tap between favorites, camera, search and ipod. I don't use those and the search shortcut is redundant with the default left swipe feature on the home screen.
What I would really like is to have double tap home toggle Wi-Fi on and off. This would be very useful to me. Anyone know if it's possible? No, it's not possible.

Double Tapping Home button doesn't go to Favorites... ONLY iPod
Hi- Recently upgraded to 1.1.3, and I set up my Home button "Double Tap" feature so that it should display the Favorites when Double Tapped (and not playing music), but the Double Tap only produces iPod controls.
I DOES work if I'm already at the Home Screen... a Double Tap will bring up the Favorites. But I thought the whole POINT was to get to Favorites from the Slide to Unlock screen???I think I understand what you're saying. I have the Home button double-tap set up to go to my favorites as well, but it only works if you're already "unlocked" and at the Home screen.
If your phone is asleep and you double tap the Home button, all you get is iPod controls and the "slide to unlock". I'm guessing this is how it's supposed to be...forcing you to slide to unlock before you can do anything else.

Double tapping home button doesn't bring up controls?
Why doesn't double tapping on the home button bring up controls to play my podcast on my locked phone like it used to before the podcast app?
Settings> Control panel> Access on lock screen. You will simply need to enable this and then when the screen is on but locked you can still swipe up and access the controls.

My Iphone4 is secretly using alot of data even after I have double tapped the home button and closed all the apps running in the background.
This just started happening 3 days ago.
When im out of home, the phone drains battery REALLY FAST, I lose 6% battery in 5 minutes.
The phone also heats up and feels very warm after a few minutes.
When I turn the data plan off, it becomes normal again, like I lose 1% every 30minutes even while listening to mp3.
I can conclude that its secretly using the 3G at an alarming rate which causes the battery to die so quickly
I have uploaded 2 pictures showing what happens before and after I turn on my WIFI.
Notice that the ping spikes like crazy on my home network once I turn on my WIFI on my IP4
WIFI OFF:
WIFI ON:
I hope someone can assist me with this!
Thanks!!chuuburg wrote:

There is a common misconception that closing an app on the Quick Launch screen (it's real name) also kills the app's background process. This is not the case. First, all built in apps (mail, contacts, calendar, game center, notes, reminders, Genius, Photo Stream, etc) continue running their background processes even if killed in the Quick Launch screen. For apps from the App Store killing the foreground process also gives the app the option of killing its background process, but it doesn't have to. In addition, any app that has Notifications enabled can restart its background process if it receives a Notification.
iOS 7 gives the user more control over background processes; you can selectively allow or deny any app to run in background. As you apparently have not upgraded this option is not available to you.
As Chris has already told you, there's an app on your phone that is stuck in a loop. As you discovered killing foreground processes did not resolve the problem. One trick that sometimes resolves this is to let the battery run down until the phone shuts off and will not restart. Then charge to 100%. -
Have to double-tap home button TWICE to bring up iPod Control on 3.1.2 ?
I noticed it takes more time for the iphone to wake up after I press the home button on 3.1.2 . Usually it's instant, now it takes roughly 1.5 second now. And I have to double-tap the home button twice (four times total)when I need the iPod Control(<<,>,>>), the phone doesn't respond to the first double-tap. It only wakes the screen up,then I have to do it again. This is so frustrating especially when I need to switch songs.
BTW, this happens everytime when the phone is asleep for more than 20 seconds. If I double-tap when the phone has just been put to sleep (<20 seconds), the iPod Control comes up normal.
And it's normal when it's connected to a PC, the screen wakes instantly.
Anyone had this issue ?

unfortunately, you're not missing anything. that is how they have it set up in 3.0

Double tap home button on locked screen doesn't bring up playback controls
Just upgraded to iPhone 3.0 softwareand noticed this problem.
On iPod Touch, if you have the screen set to auto lock, you used to be able to double-tap the home button to bring up music controls without having to swipe to unlock (handy if you wanted to skip to next track). Now you can't.
Also, somewhat bizarrely, shake to shuffle doesn't work if iPod is playing and screen is locked.
The other features are great, but losing some basic functionality on the iPod is a pain.
Message was edited by: EasybourneYou used to be able to double tap and you'd get music controls WITHOUT having to slide to unlock. This behaviour has gone the way of the dodo since the upgrade. Now it just prompts you to slide to unlock.
