Why does each app require a separate activation if I am using the same cable subscription for each one?

Why does each Apple TV app that requires a cable subscription require separate activation/cable verification? I only have one cable subscription, so can the Apple TV just store my info and give me access to all of the app my cable subscription allows? At the very least apps from the same company should all activate at one (ABC and the Disney apps).

Currently each app is treated separately

  • HT204053 What are the pros and cons of 1) choosing to use the SAME Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or 2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides

All is in the title, so I repeat it below with a better identation.
What are the pros and cons of
    1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
    2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
    P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

  • I share a photo stream with a family member. Is there a way to make it so we have separate photo stream but still use the same apple id?

i share a photo stream with a family member. Is there a way to make it so we have separate photo stream but still use the same apple id?

You'll want a separate iCloud account for each user in addition to the main Apple ID used for purchases.
Let's say you have a family of four (husband, wife, and two children). Here is what you will need:
Main Apple ID for shared purchases in Tunes (everybody will be using this)
iCloud (Apple ID) account for husband
iCloud (Apple ID) account for wife
iCloud (Apple ID) account for child 1
iCloud (Apple ID) account for child 2
Yes, you can have both an Apple ID and iCloud account setup on the same device. On each iOS device, setup the main Apple ID account for the following services:
iCloud (Photo Stream and Backup are the only items selected here).
    Music Home Sharing
    Video Home Sharing
    Photo Stream
Additionally, on each iOS device, add a new iCloud account (Under Mail, Contacts, Calendar) that is unique to each user for the following services:
    Mail (if using @me.com)
    Contacts
    Calendars
    Reminders
    Bookmarks
    Notes
    Find My iPhone
    Messages
    Find Friends
    FaceTime
On your individual Macs (or Mac accounts), use the main Apple ID in iTunes. Then, use the unique iCloud account in/for iCloud.
Now that everbody is using separate iCloud accounts for your contacts, calendars, and other things, it will be all be kept separate.
The only thing that is now 'shared' would be iTunes content (apps and other purchases), backups via iCloud (if enabled), and Photo Stream (if enabled).

  • Can I use the same iTunes account for 2 iPads without having the same apps on both?

Can I use the same iTunes account for 2 iPads without having the same apps on both? Everytime I try to sync my new iPad, it syncs all the apps that are on my account. If I can do this, can someone tell me how please???

Yes you can, easily.  When you plug the first pad in to sync, note the name of the pad on the last pane.  Set up for that device whatever you want to sync.  When you are done, plug the second pad in.  Make sure it has a different name on the left pane.   Then sync to that pad whatever you want.  I tunes will remember what you did on each pad, and will start from there the next time you plug in.

  • HT1222 Can you use the same authorization code for QT Pro on two computers? Or do you have to buy a code for each computer

I have two computers a laptop and my Video Editing computer can I use the same activation code on both?

An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services.   So you can use the same Apple ID for up to 10 Macs associated with it.
To create an Apple ID you need to enter  your full name and your primary email address as your Apple ID. This will be used as the contact email address for your account.

  • I have 3 apple devices and I use the same apple ID for all 3.  I would like to create a new I'd for one of my devices, but do not want to loose the apps on that device.  Anyone know how I can do this?

I have 3 apple devices and I use the same apple ID for all 3.  I would like to create a new I'd for one of my devices, but do not want to loose the apps on that device.  Anyone know how I can do this?

    Create a new ID:
    On the iPod go to
    - Settings>Messages>Send and receive and sign out your ID and sign into the other one. Make sure that only her ID email address is listed.
    - Settings>FaceTime sign out of your ID and sign into the other one. Make sure that under You can be reached at only the newID email address is listed
    - Settings>iCloud and sign out and sign in with the new one
    - Settings>iTunes and App Store and sign out your ID and sign in with the new one.
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Why does My Verizon require me to answer my secret question all the time?

I rarely login to My Verizon.  Let's face it, the account information for Verizon's site aren't exactly as fresh in memory as my mail account or social network authentication details.
So every few months when I do need to check on something about my account, I will go to login and I am presented with my secret question, because Verizon has never seen this computer before.
Let me tell you something about secret questions.  They are the most insecure things ever.  "Where is your favorite spot to vacation?"  Well someone who wants in could maybe look at my social networking pictures.  "What was your first pets name?" I don't think it would be very hard for someone to find that out.  These are totally pointless.  The only time I have ever legitimately used one (years ago when these first came out) I set a secret question that was more obscure than these examples and someone guessed it.  So when asked for a secret question what do I do now?  I type a random series of letters beacuse I don't want to weaken my accounts security.
So every few months when I go to login to Verizon, it thinks my computer is different and at that point decides to prompt me for this worthless "security" question that I am not stupid enough to have legitimately answered.... except now I can't login to my account, so I've got to have Verizon text my phone a code and reset my password and security question just to check some little detail of my bill.
Get rid of the stupid requirement for a security question for well ANYTHING please, but particularly for not recognizing my PC.  I have NEVER seen another website require this.  My bank doesn't require me to answer security questions to login.  I work in IT at a bank and we don't require this to login unless other authentication methods fail.
At least Verizon's password rules aren't entirely unique.  I mean, I don't use the same passwords for each account, but at the same time I don't have 72 totally unrelated passwords for my different accounts.  So at least I know my password when I go to login, but it doesn't much matter when my security question now is pretty much set to an illegitimate answer that I am using a second "password".....the only site on the whole Internet I need two passwords for.  Fix this garbage.

thrift Your security is important to us. We want to make sure that we take the necessary measures to prevent your my verizon account being comprimised. The secret question is used if your computer is not recognized. The next time you log in, look for the option 'remember this device/computer'. This way you will not be asked for the secret question as long as the computer is the same and  password is correct. We hope ths helps.

  • I am a teacher with 7 iPads for my room with no VPP or Apple Configurator.  May I use the same Apple ID for each of the devices with a separate password for each device?

Who can help me with the above question?  Multiple iPads in one classroom:  may I use the same Apple ID (which is my work email) for each iPad, and construct a separate password for each device?  My school does not have VPP or Apple Configurator

Password to what, exactly? If you're referring to the screen lock, each iPad can have a separate passcode, since that's not tied to an Apple ID. If that's not what you mean, please post back and clarify what password you're referring to and what you wish to accomplish.
    Regards.

  • I am using the same Apple id for my iPhone and iPad! Does this cause a problem with apps?

I Was told I should use a whole different I'd with my iPad because if I have both my phone and iPad with the same Apple id it will cause conflict with the apps on each of them. Does this happen?

No. I've been using the same Apple ID on my iPhone and iPad for years without problems. If fact, if both devices are yours and you use both devices having the same Apple ID on each of them is preferable.

  • Should I use the same Adobe ID for multiple apps in the same publication?

I've been sifting through documentation on building apps for the Amazon AppStore and Google Play variants of Android for a few days and came across something I'm not too clear on.
Here's a clip from the documentation page outlining the publishing process for Android devices:
You cannot use the same Adobe ID to create multiple viewer apps. Create a different Adobe ID for each app. When signing in to publish folios, use the appropriate Adobe ID.
The reason I am confused is because I thought renditions were used to send certain content to one set of devices (iPads, for example) and another set of content elsewehre.
We currently pubish for the iPad and do so at iPad 1 resolution.  Would we add yet another Adobe ID to the mix when creating our Android apps? That sounds like a lot of logging in and out during the production and publishing process.
    Thanks for any insight,
    Steven

    Hey Steven,
You can certainly use the same adobe Id and make renditions for two different App's ( one for android and IOS and so on )
The point that you are referring to means that if you have two different App's in the App store with separate content than use different Id's...

  • 3 people have been using the same Apple ID for years.  How do we separate the information and create our own Apple IDs?

Brand new to the community.    I'm confused as to how all of this works, but since we're using the same Apple ID, we seem to be getting eachother's information synced to our phones including contacts, music, etc.  I'd like to separate our accounts, but how do we retain the appropriate information for each individual?

On person can keep the current account and the other two can migrate their devices to new accounts.  To migrate a device to a new accoun, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be effected by this), provide the password to turn off Find My iDevice and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted .  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.  If the same person has other devices to migrate to this new account, on the other devices they can save the photo stream photos to the camera roll, delete the iCloud account, choose Delete from My iDevice (since the data is already in the new account), the sign into the new account.
Once you are all on separate accounts, you can go to icloud.com and delete any data that you don't want in your accounts (such as other people's contacts).
If you're getting each other's music it may be because you have automatic download turned on, which automatically downloads purchases made any other device signed into the same iTunes ID.  To prevent this, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and turn Music off under Automatic Downloads.

  • Can 2 people use the same I pad for the same apps?

Can 2 people sharing an I Pad 2 use the same apps like games for instance?  Can each person log in when using the I Pad? Can you register the I Pad in 2 names so you can each individually use if for your own apps?

One user only on the iPad, no way to create multiple user accounts in iOS.
