Why does each episode in my Season Pass download twice?

I have recently started using iTunes to buy my TV series.  I have subsribed to House Season 8 and Game of Thrones Season 2.  With both, when I download the latest episode, it appears twice on the downloads list.  The files are always the same size, so I don't think it is a SD version and a HD version (plus we don't seem to get HD versions here in Australia).  If I allow both to complete there are duplicate entries in iTunes and both seem to be identical.  Generally I just delete one, as soon as it starts, to save bandwidth.  I have double checked, and have not accidentally purchased either season twice.  This does not seem to happen for other seasons, that I have bought after all episodes are released.  Any insights would be appreciated, I did a few searches and couldn't find any solutions.

I am having this problem too, for 2 days now. I'd love an answer on how to fix this..I have contacted support and reported the problem yesterday morning, but my passes still aren't showing up.

  • HT5731 why are the episodes of the season passes I bought not downloading, even though I have recieved the notification mail telling me that they are available?

the episodes of the season passes are not downloading, when i try to download it from the link sent to me in the notificaition mail, the message "Unable to Process Your Request" appears.
    thanks for your help

Apologies if this is an off-target question, but had you bought the HD season originally or just the SD version?
The reason I ask is that I have had similiar difficulties with the autodown load and when I check for available downloads on season passes, it says all downloaded.
Then, when I go to the store and search for the season, it first brings up the HD season indicating I would need to make a new purchase, but if I select on SD, there are my purchases and I can freely (and manually) download the latest episode without new cost.
Needless to say, neither of us should have to go looking. Here is the iTunes technical support email: <[email protected]>. I encourage you to email them. I have already done so but I think it helps for anyone with this problem to also do so, so that they will realize it is a wider spread issue and not a human error by a single user.

  • Does each episode require approval or just the initial launch episode?

My podcast just uploaded to iTunes.  Does each episode from here on out require approval?  Or will episodes be released as soon as I submit them?

Once your podcast has been accepted you don't need to interact with the Store at all. When you have a new episode simply add it to the feed and re-upload it. Subscribers will see the new episode almost immediately, but because of the huge number of podcasts (many thousands) the Store caches feeds and checks them in some sort of rotation for updates. This means that, depending on where you happen to be in the checking cycle, it can usually take 1-2 days for a new episode to appear: sometimes you get lucky and it's less. Occasionally you get unlucky and it's a bit more.

  • Why does each app require a separate activation if I am using the same cable subscription for each one?

Why does each Apple TV app that requires a cable subscription require separate activation/cable verification? I only have one cable subscription, so can the Apple TV just store my info and give me access to all of the app my cable subscription allows? At the very least apps from the same company should all activate at one (ABC and the Disney apps).

Currently each app is treated separately

  • Season pass download delay?

So I have the season pass for Season 4 of Archer and the latest episode is available for purchase, but not for season pass download. The episode came out yesterday and should be able to be downloaded, right? Is there any intentional delay here? I am already putting up with FX commercials at the front and end of each episode, which is pretty shady, do I have to wait for each episode to get old before I watch it too?

It looks like Apple has had this problem for years. This community has many posts going back to at least 2006 with other shows having this very problem. This was my first and last time getting a season pass. Next time I'll try Amazon.
Other posts seem to indicate Apple figures it out after a day or two with no explanation or apology. One season of Grey's Anatomy apparently had this happen more than once in the single season.

  • Why does it take over two hours to download a movie on Apply tv

Why does it take over two hours to download a  movie on Apple TV
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
Netflix uses adaptive streaming and can reduce quality right down to produce a stream as low as 0.5 Mbps.

  • HT201272 An episode of a season pass purchase does not show up as downloadable the day after it has aired on TV.

Bought a season pass to "Revenge" tv show. I usually receive an email the next after the show aired on tv to say it is now ready to be downloaded. For the last episode, no email was received, and checking with the iTunes store says no downloads are available. This has happened once before and I received quick problem resolution from support staff, but this time I was just asked to check for downloads (which I said I had already done) then no further help. Any ideas?

Perhaps the makers of Revenge have not released to Apple yet.

  • How do I get my episodes from my season pass on my Apple TV?

Last week I purchases the season pass for Doctor Who Series 6, Pt 2 whereupon I immediately was able to download the first epsiode in the series. Right now, the second episode is available to purchase, but I cannot find a way to download the episode to my AppleTV. I have not received an email notification about the episode yet like I did with the first one. Does this mean that I have to wait for that email before I can watch the episode on my Apple TV? Even though the episode is available for others right now? If that is the case, then I am regretting my purchase of the season pass. Can someone please tell me I'm missing something here?

that's great and all, but is there a way to get it to stream straight from the cloud? I have the same problem, where we purchased the season pass on apple tv, got the first episode immediatly via stream (on the apple tv), itunes synced and downloaded it later that day. Now this week, I have to download it first to itunes and play it on the apple tv through the computer? Why can't I just stream it from the cloud like i can any other episode i've purchased?
Really, that's kinda inconvient and misleading, that the show isn't availible on the device that I originally purchased the show on. Will it ever be, or is the only way to watch a season pass purchase on the apple tv through home sharing via itunes?

  • HT201272 Can't find all previous episodes on a season pass

    Hi,
I have purchsed a season pass of Game of Thrones.
I am trying to download episodes 1,2 and 3 onto my second laptop.
    1. It is authorised
    2. I have logged in to iTunes store correctly.
When I go to the purchased items I can see episode 4, and all of season 1.  But S2 episodes 1,2, and 3 are not available for download.
They are not on this laptop - but I have tried the "not on this computer" option and "all" option but they are still not there.
How can I get these episodes back?
    Thanks

I've been having similar problems with season pass items.  For example, NCIS Season 10 in the ITMS shows that episode twelve is $2.99 even though I bought the whole season.
The latest episodes for several shows won't download when i hit check for available downloads and the only place I could download them was by going directly to the store entry as if I wanted to purchase them and hit the download button from there.
I suspect Apple's having some serious ITMS issues or there is a bug in the latest iTunes version.

  • I lost my episodes from my seasons pass

i bought a seasons pass for the office and i had all of the episodes last week but a week later, i dont have any of the episodes so i was wondering if i still have the reciept, if i can just get them back or if i have to rebuy them

Not sure what you mean.  You cannot delete the app.
If you update to ios 5 then it is called Music now.
Otherwise it is liekly on another page or in a folder.
Please explain if you mean something else.

  • Why does my macbook show  emails as being sent twice

why does my MacBook Pro  show  emails as being sent twice

You don't need to delete them form iTunes on your computer. Notice the dotted circles next to the songs. That indicates that the songs are essentially in limbo. They may not be on your iPad or they might appear in the Music app but will not play.
Sometimes unsyncing those songs will totally remove those ghost traces of the music nd sometimes, you have to restore the iPad to get rid of those traces of the songs.
If you Google "grey dotted circles next to songs in iTunes" you will find a plethora of articles that talk about this.

It doesn't really matter if an AppleTV2 has to re-download since using the same bandwidth twice doesn't effect the user.  There are no data caps on home internet like there are on 3G cellular service.
Many home internet services do have caps, at least in the UK, and I suspect elsewhere to.  My current service is capped at 100GB/month for downloads, though I rarely use that much.
I recall a post from someone a few months ago who said that during the course of watching/rewatching a single HD rental they'd used over 20GB of their monthly usage allocation which is a significant chunk if you do have a cap.

  • Why does my network connection time out when downloading iphone 4 software update?

Why does my network connection time out when trying to download iphone4 software update?

I'm having the same problem too. I cannot sync or update over wireless or wired connections ever since I installed the most recent iTunes update. iTunes goes through the complete OS 5.0.1 download only to tell me the connection has timed out just when it seems ready to install. I've since reinstalled iTunes, I've ejected and done hard restarts on both my problem devices. I've disabled anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall. No change in outcome except that, after doing all this, my final attempt to simply sync my 1st Gen iPad led to iTunes crashing and being automatically closed by windows just before finishing the final step. Is this a cruel joke, because I'm certain I can hear iTunes laughing at me for wasting so much time on this.
