Why does email's autofill insert so many names?

My friend is using her daughter's MacBook to receive email from her Yahoo and other email accounts. She can send and receive - no problem. There are however two problems I'm unable to figure out for her:
1) When she goes to type in a recipient's name in the TO field - it automatically autofills at least three different recipient addresses. In order to get rid of the unwanted email addresses she has to go physically delete the two or three that aren't supposed to appear there - then the same happens with the next autofill. Where and what is the fix for this? Very time consuming!
2) After reading emails it does not automatically mark them as READ unless you go back and select that for each individual email. Where and what is the setting or preference for automatically marking them as read when they've been read?
I tried to compare setting on her computer to my MacBook Pro - but I don't see anything in Mail Preferences that looks any different than mine - but my computer does not do that.

What I would suggest is that you do a full back up of your device. Then go into the settings and 'erase all content and settings'. Which puts your iPad back as if it was new out of the box (you'll still have iOS7 but it's like doing a fresh install)
Then restore your ipad from the backup that you just made.
It's possible that during the upgrade something got messed up, which is causing the crashing. Starting over may help because it'll write over any errors.
Just make sure you do the backup because when you erase it, that's just what it does, erases everything. Anything not backed up will be lost.

When I send a group email why does the address bar not present the names alphabetically?

I frequently send emails to groups. Sometimes, for one reason or another, I want to delete one or more contacts from the list that appears in the address bar. Why does the list not appear in alphabetical order and is there any way that I can edit my contact lists to make it do so? It means picking through a list one by one rather than scrolling down a list to find a contact in the correct order.

Basically I suggest you keep using Eudora.
Like most of those moving now, they are unlikely to be happy with anything else. But then that is to be expected, you have clung to abondonware for 5+ years after it's replacement. People that dedicated are unlikely to be happy with anything else.
The Business standard and professionalism are not based on the Eudora way of things. I suggest you stick undisclosed-recipients: into a google search box and get instructions on how to do things for all the major mail clients.
Of note Thunderbird displays nothing in the To field, even though the undisclosed-recipients: is inserted in the outgoing mail.

I am interested however how when you added a list so it appears on multiple lines. All I see is he list name until after I press the send button and look at it in the sent folder.
Most people use another address entirely in the to:, in conjunction with the BCC list. It verifies the list mail is sent by coming back and you can put whatever you like in the display name of the email address.

Why does email hypertext in PDF open web browser window in addition to email client?

Using FrameMaker 10, I created the following hypertext: message URL mailto:[email protected] I then printed to PDF. When I click the link in the PDF it opens an email client message window (what I want) but also opens a web browser window with mailto:[email protected] in the address bar (what I don't want). Why would it open both? I don't know if this is a Frame issue (more likely), an Acrobat issue (less likely), or a browser issue (not likely). I hope I'm just missing something easy here.

Should have given the following info earlier...running Win 7 64-bit with Outlook 2010 and Acrobat X Pro. That being said the path to verify "mailto" is different but it is set up fine. Same with Acrobat X Pro...settings are fine.
Also, in reply to Harry28586 this is happening with Firefox, not IE (I should have mentioned that as well).
I've found plenty of threads searching online regarding issues with email links in Acrobat on Win 7 machines with Outlook...many suggest editing the registry. I have no problem doing that but this is a work laptop and we have a don't-fix-it-yourself policy. So I'll keep looking. Thanks for all the suggestions.

BT Yahoo Email changes ? Why does email not displa...

I'm aware that BT have announced their email system is being altered but cannot understand why email received through Outlook Express does not now display correctly. Have BT introduced some Antispam/Antivirus software ? Nearly all messages now display all the header details of the email and the original email is buried in there - WHY ? Nothing has changed on the computer so it has to be to do with BT. An explanation would be appreciated.
Anyone got any idea what BT have done ?

I have spoken to Stephen Hare from Critical Path and he assures me that they will disable the header insert.

Why does email address auto-fill in mail not work?

When composing a new email, if I understand correctly, as you type the name, a suggestion SHOULD pop up with the address of the person.
This works perfectly in iOS (iPhone/iPad) but does not work on both my MacBook Pros...
What is the solution?
I tried deleting all contacts, export to CSV, re-import etc. but to no avail...

HI...I have the same question because in uograding from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, I find I can no longer get addresses to "autofill"...guess what , I did exactly what Linc Davis suggested and there is NO autmatically complete address box...which existed before in M. Lion!! Any other suggestions...I thought these things were ment to UP grade and not complicate life even more?!!!

Why does Email text not display, only the header?

When opening an email message, the text or graphics if applicable does not display. The messages display in my Inbox along with the Preview Pane, but when opened the text box is blank. Why?

Close out of the mail app, then double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

Why does email hesitate for a minute or more and then come in normally?

When I click "get mail" it does not come right in. It will take sometimes up to 90 seconds before the first email comes in but then they will all come in at a normal speed. I have high speed cable internet and operate Windows XP with service pack 3. I have cleaned up all the RAM eating programs and done some house cleaning but the problems remains.

I always get worried when I hear of issues with clicking get mail.
When you start Thunderbird it gets mail, then it does it on a timed basis for all accounts. Then someone comes along and says if takes XX second for a get mail to initiate.
My first question is always, why are you clicking get mail? Other than the rare occasion your waiting for a password reset mail etc it servers almost no purpose. and then I tend to use web mail as it updates just a bit faster.
When you click get mail, Thunderbird must lookup the site in DNS, contact the site, offer up your credentials, log in, check the capability of the mail server, ask for your mail and wait for the server to respond at each point.
Lots of load on the server and you see delays in each response. Lots of time spent inspecting the mail as it arrives you see delays in delivery. Anti virus wants to lookup the credentials of the server in it's phishing and other databases, more delays. Got security software from your bank? it is probably fighting with other security software and slowing things down.
Boot you machine into safe mode as that disables most of the rubbish security stuff and try getting mail in that state. Then try starting Thunderbird with add-ons disabled from it's help menu (alt+H) while still in Windows safe mode and see if that is faster.
If safe mode alone is fast, look at the software you have installed. If Thunderbird add-ons disabled is faster you have an add-on that is the cause.

When I type an email message, sometimes the block of text starts to move around in the screen. This is very annoying. Does anyone know why this starts occurring and what I can do to prevent oit or correct it?

That's not normal and could be a hardwre problem. Contqact an Apple Support or visit an Apple Store to get an evaluation.

HT202360 Why does email forwarding not work with external addresses?

I have tried to setup an internal email account which is meant to forward emails to an external account.
Under the account's mail options i have set "Mail should be: " to Forwarded and typed in the email address underneath. However, both with an external domain and the me.com domain it does not send the email. If i send an email directly from the accounts using my IMAP account the server has no problems sending the emails to the addresses.
The results of running sudo serveradmin command mail:command = getAutoForward is:

Is there sometime i'm missing?

could someone tell me why emails I am sending appear in the draft folder even after the email has been sent and is in the sent folder?

Do you get draft emails every time your write an email, or do you just have a pesky email in drafts? There's a big difference.
If it happens every time, it could be that your email isn't being sent to your recipient. If it happened only once, it's just an incomplete email you haven't sent or deleted yet.

Question why does 1 row(s) inserted display even though nothing was inserte

My question is when I run the below code in the sql workshop/sql command even though the insert statement is commented out. I still get the following message:
1 row(s) inserted.
Why? I check the table and I can seel that nothing was inserted. So why do I get the message 1 row(s) inserted.
I will be running this on an apex form. Should I worry about this?

I accepted the invitation for the program to generate an announcement email, but the URL it generated just pointed to my generic web address on MobileMe, so that a browser using this link picks up the first site on my iDisk, not the new one. I was able to work out the correct URL by adding the specific name of my new site with underscores replacing spaces, and thus alter the announcement email, but why did this happen? I think it may be a bug and have reported it, but maybe it's something I did. Any ideas?
