Why does Error 8 pop up during routine datalogging
During routine datalogging of temperature, an Error 8 dialog box suddenly pops up (sometimes after several hours of successful logging) and causes the logging to stop, as well as freezing up the real-time temp graph. I have not been able to correlate the error with anything in particular. Can you help me troubleshot this problem?
Is by any chance you are running FastFind (or FindFast) ? It is a beast that comes with MSOffice.
Disable it. It tries periodically to open text files to index their content in order to speedup searchs within documents and slow down every other application. It opens the files to read them while you are using it and DENYING you further write access until it is finished.
An antivirus scan might the same effect.
When you open a file with LabVIEW, the default is to allow other processes to open it simultaneously for read and write. This is seldom required and causes this Error 8 when one process deny writes to other. Thus when you open a file, use the deny mode and set it to "deny read/write"(0). That will prevent other apps to use your file while
you write on them.

Why does Acrobat XI PRO freeze during save or save as tasks in Window 8? It is intermittent, but CHRONIC, and I am forced to "repair" the installation, or reboot by computer. This has been a problem since upgrading to Windows 8 and installing the only Acrobat XI update. Feedback most welcome and appreciated, but an Adobe FIX would be the best solution.

Why does audio click/pop at in and out of any transition I apply?
If it's not a pop or a click, after I apply a transsion for some reason the audio level drops during the transition and doesn't appear to be adjustable even with clicking the edit volume button. I have tried many many things and all that seems to work is extracting the audio from both clips that are next to eachother first, and then apply a transition and it seems to be ok but even doing this numerous times I have attempted to extract audio from one clip by pressing Command J or going through the menu and gotten a completely different clips audio when before I extracted the audio it was fine. Why does this happen? In addtion the titles I've added always appear pixilated? Any suggestions? I have read the entire tutorial and know how everthing is supposed to work but nothing seems to be doing what it's supposed to.

For titles, they often look bad on the Mac. Will look fine on TV. You should use simple (sans-serif) fonts like Helvetica or Arial in large sizes. -

Just upgraded to Firefox 18 (windows 7 desktop). Why does Firefox change layouts/settings without asking the user if he wants it or not???
I am getting sick of those changes. I want to have at the google main page the options (as before) to search in all languages, or pages from a certain language or pages in a certain language (of course depening of the google address; f.i. at google.de for german languages, google.fr for french languages etc).
In the latest Firefox 17 it was working as I wanted and described before: when I visited www.google.de/firefox of www.google.fr/firefox. Now those 3 options (under the search bar) are gone and I do not want to operate by clicking on the advanced search button. Those things should be visible under the search bar again.
Also my STARTPAGE was GONE/DELETED after the update !!! Grrrrr.... Updating is OK but mozilla should not change user configured items !!!!!!!

On your MacBook: Go to System Preferences > Network. Select Wi-Fi from the left column. Click the Advanced... button.

Our alarm company set up the camera with the D-Link before we got the Ariport and we can't figure out how to hookup the camera to the Airport without the D-Link.
You may need to solicit the security company's help. Adding your Extreme to your network as a router constitutes a fundamental change in your network's design. If you are now using the Extreme as your router, the D-Link router should be reconfigured as a bridge. Depending on the nature of your security system, it may not be required at all, but your concern about the security camera requiring specific port forwarding settings is justified. Changing your router from the D-Link to the Extreme may require forwarding specific ports using AirPort Utility, otherwise your security camera's video may not be accessible from the Internet. This goes beyond any help I can provide, since your security system has requirements of its own.
Configuring the Extreme as a bridge is likely to solve the problem... but if the D-Link wireless router was sufficient, do you really need another access point? The reason I'm asking is this:

If you need a wireless backup device for Time Machine, a Time Capsule may be a better choice. -
Why does error 200279 occur at high speeds only?
I am using a VI very much like the one attached here, and as my motor speeds up and the period value decreases, the vi fails, and error 200279 shows up as displayed in the attached 2 jpg images. This VI is reading the period value of an encoder by rising edges. The error does not show up at low speeds, only high speeds. Hardware is wired through USB ports on PC. Using Labview 2012 and Windows 7.
Do I need to specify the samples per channel for the READ in the case structure to eliminate this error? The error only occurs when the period gets quite short, e.g. 9ms or so. At higher period values (slower motor speeds) the error does not appear. I am using the counters built into the cDAQ9174 chassis and the NI 9401 module to read the period values of my encoder. What is happening at high speeds to cause this error? I thought that the setting on the DAQ Timing VI required that 16 periods are read every iteration, so, why is it saying that it is trying to read samples that are no longer available?
Also, is the "Append Array" building up a large array that is being carried in the SHIFT REGISTER and causing things to slow down? There are a huge number of periods occuring with an encoder at 120 ticks/revolution. should I try to keep this array truncated or something to reduce the size of the data being handled for each iteration? Can this large array be causing the 200279 error?

error July 18 part 2.jpg 49 KBI think there's a combination of things that could be contributing. I don't have time for a full explanation right now, here's some quick mods I did to the code you posted. Essential changes are:
- made separate loop for collecting data into a big array. (Maybe you can consider dumping to file instead of growing an array in memory?)
- used a queue to transfer data between loops
- increased the buffer size dramatically while still calculating average of only the most recent periods
- reduced the acquisition loop rate -- expect to retrieve more data points per iteration
There are a couple other things I'd probably add or change with more time, but this minimal set of mods should help some.

The page listed above pops up in a Firefox browser window with five tabs open usually when checking email but sometimes while surfing the net and repeatedly. Some include a 'problem loading page' notice with the following:
Firefox can't find the server at www.xn---jca9qmb.com.
or
Firefox can't find the server at www.xn--dx%if-61a864d.com.
These are the last two of the five tabs that pop up together.
This has happened nine times in the past five to ten minutes.
Since my Norton is up to date and I have recently updated Firefox and plug-ins, I assume this is a software problem however disabling plug-ins and other items has not solved the problem. Any help would be appreciated.Hi
YES it does, HOWEVER in the past Most (not all) Beta auto updates did not trigger Comodo Firewall problem (BUT occasionally did) and I resolved the same way (namely uninstalling and installing a full install.
I do not know if having Aurora AND BETA both installed causes any conflicts regarding this issue
I am NOW going to uninstall Maintenance service, Beta and Aurora retaining only my add-on and preferences. I will delete all Comodo rules for them Then I will download an older update of both Beta and Aurora and see what happens

Why does error message occur when "Save as Adobe PDF" is used?
"Save as an Adobe PDF" does not work; it only generates "Error An error occurred while saving the PDF file."
I can create a PDF two ways: (1) distilling a Postscript file and using Acrobat Distiller, and (2) using the MacOS PDF generator (MacOS X 10.10.2 Quartz PDF Context).
Is there a reason "Save as an Adobe PDF" does not work? Is this an issue related to Yosemite or Adobe Acrobat? I am curious to know if other Yosemite and Acrobat XI users have this issue?

Using Adobe Acrobat XI version 11.0.10 on MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB DDR3), I have been creating PDF files of music charts optimized for viewing on iPad using Acrobat Distiller XI version 11.0.10. I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10.2). Music charts are designed using Pages 5.5.2 using Page Setup for HP LaserJet 1012 and a custom page size (7.75 in. x 10.25) with four 0.06 inch margins. This allows me to replicate exact content of a PDF file optimized for printing [Page Setup for HP LaserJet 1012 with US Letter page size (8.5 in. x 11) having four 0.5 inch margins] on a PDF file optimized for viewing on an iPad. The iPad PDF has reduced white space in margins allowing the music chart to have the largest print viewable when looking at an iPad while performing.
I am creating a PDF by distilling a Postscript file and using Acrobat Distiller [PDF/A-1b:2005 (RGB)]. "Save as an Adobe PDF" does not work; it only generates "Error An error occurred while saving the PDF file." Moreover, "Save as an Adobe PDF" never works for any circumstance.
The issue is iPad PDFs no longer have 0.06 inch margins. A PDF file is created, but there is more white space in margins. I have determined the PDF production is being affected by the HP LaserJet 1012 0.167 inch minimal margins. The outcome does not change if I select Any Printer from Page Setup. However, a PDF with 0.06 inch margins is created if I use the MacOS PDF generator (MacOS X 10.10.2 Quartz PDF Context).
Is there any thing I can do to use Adobe Acrobat XI to make charts optimized iPad like I could before I upgraded to Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)? Just curious… -

try disabling the pop-up blocker entirely and then see if you are able to bring up your contacts.
In order to turn your Pop-Up Blocker on and off in Mozilla Firefox, please do the following:
1. In Mozilla Firefox click on the Tools menu, then select Options.
2. Click on the Content tab at the top of the "Options" window.
3. Then go to the Block pop-up windows option, and remove the check mark.
4. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
If it permits then it will mean that the problem is indeed with the Firefox pop-up blocker only.
In case it still does not permit opening on contacts then the issue is because of something else (do you have any toolbar installed eg yahoo toolbar)

Why does Preview open Private pictures during restart?
I just bought Mountain Lion from Apple Store and it is now downloaded and installed on my MacBook Air.
I do not like its automatic reopening during computer start-up of any applications that were open before computer shut-down.
Nor do I like any application like Preview to pop open some private pictures that had last been open in that application, while restarting such application by clicking an unrelated new .pdf file.
But this is exactly what is happening. I tried to change this in Finder Preferences but noticed there is no way to do it there, as a matter of fact I discovered that the "Advanced" option in the Finder Preferences window opens absolutely nothing!
How can I stop all these automatic start-ups and resulting possible privacy compromises?
