Oh den.thed... I saw your post this morning and I was so excited.... ran to the Mac and got to Energy Saver, and... the checkbox is already unchecked.
Long story, I'll make it short. Just got the Mac back after having the HDD replaced. (It stopped working after less than 500 hours.) This rebooting thing has been happening ever since I got the computer in 2010, and I was hoping it would coincidentally stop happening after having this crashed HDD replaced last week. No such luck. Still doing it, even after getting the computer back from Apple. Two of my kids have macbooks, have used the cr*p out of them, and have had very few problems (nothing big). I bought this Mac, to replace a dead Dell desktop that got very little use, and so far I am not sure I did the right thing. Really wish I could get this "automatic" rebooting thing fixed. (Reboots with no notice, while doing normal tasks - internet, word docs, etc.) Thanks again for your help. Let me know if I should try anything else.

I very often look up to proof-read what I just entered on my laptop screen, and I see it's been jumbled, with words cut-up and cut-off, but the word and the sentence have been inserted (as if cut-and-pasted) u a discussion board I like to visit and contribute to. (It's called: Mutual Fund Observer.)p further, where they don't belong. And I did not type that stuff in that particular spot!
This happens in Yahoo mail, in Facebook, and also on
DING! It JUST NOW HAPPENED AGAIN. Can you see what I mean? This is enough to make someone angry in a big way. It STINKS. I hope you can find a "fix" for this!

It is as if the mouse or the laptop has decided on its own to go and relocate the cursor where it feels like putting it. This is terribly frustrating. It makes me want to scream.

I love facetime, buy my one complaint is, when I get another call if I am in the middle of a facetime chat, it hangs up the facetime call completely. Just to ask if I want to accept or decline the new call. That's one bug that needs to be addressed.

no, if another call comes in, it will completely hang up the facetime call, and bring you to the incoming call screen and you can accept or decline. Even if you decline it does not resume the old call. You have to call the person back.

Either your Mac is broken, or you have something installed which isn't compatible. Hard to tell without the kernel panic log.

Yahoo displays in line form other than the standard Yahoo screen, How do I change this and why does it keep changing on its own?

I have Yahoo as my default search engine. When I enter through FireFox the display comes up as a line display instead of the standard Yahoo Screan with photos etc. I need to know what is causing this to happen and how to change it back? when Yahoo is accessed through other browsers this is not a problem. That would not be an OS X or iMac issue if the problem is only with one other person. That points the finger at an Internet connection issue that must be solved by an ISP, my guess is the other person has a slow or problem Internet connection that needs troubleshooting.

Do you see the issue every time you close captivate or is it only in some scenarios? Does it show any error messages? What captivate version are you using (64 bit or 32 bit)? Can you provide some more information or screenshots which can help us reproduce the issue.

I am also having this problem. When trying to reboot, I get an endless cycle of the BIOS screen, then "MACHINE ERROR", then back. Running the same dmesg command as snoxu results in a similar error message. I am forced to shutdown by holding the power button. Upon rebooting, I get an error message that all extensions have been turned off (using Gnome Shell). Then I have to logout and login.
Shutting down and then restarting works fine.
Additional info:
System76 Gazelle Professional laptop
syslinux, systemd, GDM, Gnome Shell

Why does facetime only use a wireless network; isn't 3G the same thing?

I thought buying an iPad2 with wifi+3g would give me constant internet time. Why does facetime only work with a wifi network? Shouldn't the 3G "kick in" if there is no WiFi around?
My other problem is in the Photo's section: I've looked at the tutorials and read the sections on photo's in the ipad manual and I still cannot figure out how to label an album?
Any help in both of these areas would be greatly appreciated...Thank You!!

Yes.
Photos in the iPad's Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. These photos are included with the iPad's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, but if these photos aren't imported by your computer and a problem develops with your iPad's backup in regards to this data and you restore your iPad with iTunes if wanted or needed, kiss these photos goodbye. The same if your iPad is lost or stolen and not replaced with another.
As with any other photos on your computer that are organized by events or albums selected to be transferred to your iPad, import these photos with your computer and organize the imported photos in the same way you organize any other photos imported from a digital camera, etc. Select the albums under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences followed by a sync.
This way you have the photos available on your computer's hard drive for access there as well along with being organized as you prefer, and which can be included with your computer's backup along with all other data.

Maybe the wrong port or the wrong kind of memory card? You didn't say what version/year of Macbook Pro you have. Below is a photo of the newest one.
Red oval = USB port. It is to the left of the headphone jack.
Blue oval = SDXC card port. Is your card an SDXC card?

It sounds to me like the charger that came with the iPhone 5 is defective, or the cable is if you've been switching the cables when you switch the chargers.

My friend in Texas has tried to call my via FaceTime but for some reason, every time she does, it keeps saying "connection lost" when we both have full bars on our wifi. Keep in mind, I am from Nebraska so we have the same time zone and I have an iPod 4 while she has a iPhone of some sort but that shouldn't matter because I am still able to FaceTime my friend in California, which is two hours behind me.
