Why does FF4 think my version of Flash is old?

I have the latest 64 bit version but FF4 rejects it. How can I tell what FF4 is looking at and checking? I also have the latest 32 bit version installed. The more I look at FF4, the more I want to go back to 3.6.15 - not 16 either.

Have you put it into a different USB port than usual? it could be the autoplay settings.
You can check by right clicking the start button, click control panel then double clicking Default Programs then choosing auto play settings, the option will be under removable drives, alter it to whatever suits your needs.

32 bit is installed in case you need to use plugins which have not been updated for 64 bit Photoshop e.g. TWAIN for scanners.

  • Why does mac have to download adobe flash player to view videos

why does mac have to download adobe flash player to view video clips?

If you have a new-ish Mac or one you just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion, Adobe Flash Player is not installed by default. Since some web content is created specifically to be seen only with Adobe Flash Player, if you want to see that content, you need to install it.
It's trivial to do so. Start here:

Why does my I-pad film in flash format when I can't play it back after uploading it to a site? Design flaw to get me to spend more money...

It is not that your iPad is recording in flash format, maybe it is because the website you uploaded the video to converted it to flash format in order for other people to view it.

  • Why does Adobe think we want addons Chrome and McAfee added to a simple FLASH update???????????

Presenting an update with addons like Chrome and McAfee to be installed nefariously directly run from the site is not good.  Downloading the file after unchecking the box that I don't want  mcafee messing up my computer one can install the update without that garbage.  I don't want Chrome either..  Sure I have used it in the past but I don't want it now.  It is just about impossible to use the web these days without flash activated unless you are an people and don't get it anyway.   Trying to piggyback that unwanted software on top of a Flash update is not cool!  Its bad enough 3rd party downloads come with  things like that but whats next some adware?    Please rethink your update policies as getting that stuff installed is doing no one that doesn't want it any favors at all.

Adobe does not think that anyone wants these 3rd-party add-ons.  However, they have to fund a development team for the free software they provide; that's why/how they try to recover some of that funding.
I can understand they need money for their product yet they are the ones that bought macromedia and supported it on the web for years.  I can remember when pdf files were new so new it stopped BART from allowing it through the network I was on.  Do they not make enough money off of Photoshop?  I realize if a network wants to support flash on macs they need to buy a another server option to make it work.  I just find it deplorable the way it is done.  In fact the check box is somewhat skillfully camouflaged on the update page.
Updates should not come with trickery in the update choice to tick the correct switch off (check box) to not have 3rd party unwanted choices.   The difference between the save vs run update from their site makes a difference in which way it comes to you as the default run from the adobe site is it comes with mcafee and chrome browser not the OS.  This is not useful for the average jo computer user that has no clue.
What is next Babylon toolbar?    Have you ever seen the video of John McAfee explaining how to uninstall mcafee av? Perhaps you would understand the frustration of the users that encounter this.

This is a user forum; it is not "our" policy!
It may be your forum but its at adobe.com and supposedly the place found to ask questions.  Its the only place I could find without writing a letter to adobe.
At least a dozen times every day someone posts the links to the offline installers, which are not bundled with any 3rd-party software.  Why not use these instead of complaining...?
You might put up some links too the offline installers,  however why should I trust some offline installer that may have adware, malware, or some other chumpware silkroped to it?
On top of that its adobe's updater that is notifying the user of update needed.      It appears the updates can come two different ways from adobe and may depend on if it is updating for ie or mozilla too.

  • Why does iTunes think my iPad is a new one?

When I connect my otherwise happy iPad to iTunes, iTunes says "This computer has previously been synced with an iPad or another iOS device" and wants me either to "set up as new iPad" or "restore from the backup of <my iPad name>". Of course it's just the same iPad I've connected, so why does iTunes not recognise it as such?
This happened before, and I know if I select "Restore from the backup of <my iPad name>", it deletes and restores all the apps and media content, but in the process I lose all data e.g. progress in games, data and configurations entered into apps etc.
This is iTunes 10.2.2.12 on Win 7 64-bit, iPad 16GB with iOS 4.3.1.
Any suggestions what I can do? Even if I have to restore from backup, is there a way I can prevent this happening again?

I'm having same problem! I tried the trick of unplugging right after the sync begins and the only thing my iPad does is give me a sync failure message and restarts itself. I plug ipad back in and get same message??? I've emailed iTunes support and they have not been able to help. I tried all the standard stuff like de-authorizing/athorizing, checked that my iPad iOS is the latest version (which it is), latest version of iTunes installed (even uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes). No matter what I try cannot get around this message.  I too have tons of app settings/configurations that get lost if I go thru the restore option.  I actually tried the restore option out of frustration, lost all of my configurations AND still get the same message - seems like my iPad is caught up in a loop no matter what I try.  To make matters worse, my iTunes library got lost as all my songs are showing up with an '!' next to each song (meaning it cannot locate the file).  I checked and they are truely missing so when I go to my purchased music all of my purchases show up (all 4000+ of them) however are all listed as 'Downloaded' in the right margin???  My true objective here is to be able to transfer my purchases on my iPad to my iTunes as my iPad is complete as far as all apps/recent purchases.  HELP !!! Thanks

  • Adobe Reader 9.5.1 does not recognise older version of Flash Plugin 10.3.183.18 it requires 11.2

I have a problem in upgrading Adobe Reader to 9.5.1 as it is not recognising older version of Flash Plugin 10.3.183.18 and it prompts the user to download and install Flash Player 11.2, this is not the case with Adobe Reader v 10.1.3 as it works fine with 10.3.183.18
My Firm is not ready to rollout Flash player 11.2 , is there any work around or a fix available to fix this issue , does anyone know which API is responsible for this Flash content

    Hi,
This was an intended change along with Reader 9.5.1. This new strategy simplifies Acrobat and Reader deployments by reducing the number of future required updates should a security issue arise. Moreover, you can now manage and update Acrobat products and Flash individually.
Please refer to the following release note document for the 9.5.1 release for more information regarding the same:

  • Why does FF think I want to enter text in Cuban Spanish?

Whenever I restart Firefox, the first time I try to enter text into a web form, I see all my English words underlined as if they were misspellings. So I right click and go to pick the language. It is always set to Cuban Spanish! So I reset it to US English and all is well again until the next time I restart the browser. Then we seem, once again, to be back to Cuban Spanish! Why does it always think I want to enter text in Cuban Spanish? When I check Preferences, the only language pref I can find is always set to US English. I even searched prefs.js and can find nothing about Cuban Spanish there.

jscher2000: Thanks for that suggestion! Ok, this is getting stranger and stranger.
    1. In about:config, spellchecker.dictionaries was set to es_CU.
    2. I used right mouse in a form field->Languages and set it to English (US).
    3. Went back to about:config. Now set to en_US.
    4. Restarted Firefox.
    5. Looked at about:config. Now still set to en_US.
    6. Right mouse in a form field->Lanuages: Spanish (Cuba) is checked.
    7. Back to about:config. Now says es_CU.
I think I found the dictionaries that are at the root of this. In /usr/lib/firefox is a symbolic link, dictionaries->/usr/share/hunspell, a directory. That contains a few .aff and .dic files and many symlinks pointing to those (including es_CU.dic and es_CU.aff). I think I've found the key and it appears to be quite gnome or Ubuntu-specific. I will see what packages those files belong to and take it from there. Thanks for all the help.

  • Why does Adobe sneak Google software into Flash Player updates?

Why does Adobe sneak Google Toolbar and Google Chrome into Flash Player updates?  I am tired of waiting for this alien software to download and, in some cases, having to uninstall it.

We don't like this yet tolerate it becaue ADOBE is unconcerned with OUR opinions and there is no suitable replacement for Flash or Reader as of yet.  However, I am certain that the "Land of Opportunity" will soon provide an alternative to accepting this deceiptful practice and we will abandon Adobe Flash en mass.  Only when this policy affects the price of stocks will Management take this seriously.  Once it hits their pocketbooks, they will take notice but the question then will be "is it too late?"  I am also looking for alternatives to Google and would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Why does LabVIEW think I'm running Windows NT v5.1? I'm on XP Pro!!!

I read from an application property. They show Windows NT v5.1

XP is really just a label Microsoft put on the newest release of Windows NT. Instead of just changing the version number, this makes it appear as an entirely new operating system instead of just a new version of the same old thing. That's marketing for you.
XP Pro should show as Windows NT 5.1 as you have seen.

  • Why does FF4.0 experience hang problems when the latest version of the Adobe Flash plugin is enabled?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of Adobe Flash plugin, determined that this is the only version of the plugin recognized by FF, and determined that there is no Adobe extension running. The hang problems occur when opening most all web pages or when clicking on the sidebar and last for 10 to 30+ seconds. If the plugin is disabled, then there are no hang problems.

New plugins have never been downloaded automatically by Firefox, but Firefox scans the registry to search for new plugins.

  • Why does LabVIEW think the Analyser is not connected?

    Hi All,
this almost works but not quite.
I have a specialised analyser from LeCroy called a CATC Protocol Analyser System Model 10k. It is for observing and supplying traffic on a SATA disc interface. LeCroy supply an automation library of ActiveX components for controlling it called SataAutomation.tlb. After registering this with a utility I found called ccrpregutil.exe the automation library became visible in labVIEW.
As an exercise to prove that this can work from LabVIEW I have written a small vi, called Code Interface.vi on file and uses two of the (simplest) methods from within it. They should return the Serial number and the firmware version. The analyser is connected (via usb) to the computer and is powered up. Running the attached vi results in the following message. "Error -2147220975. Exception occured in CATC.SataAnalyser.1: Analyser device is not connected Code Interface.vi.".
So it thinks the analyser is not connected when physically it is. Does anyone know if I have to do something extra to "Connect" it. There is  not a method in the .tlb file to do this. All the methods seem to assume it is connected.
The chances that anyone has seen this exact problem with this exact instrument are small but perhaps someone has seen something similar.
    thanks

    Hi George,
I have been looking into this problem for you. First of all, I must advise you that it is not possible for us to replicate this problem since we do not have the required hardware. As a result, the support I am going to be able to provide on this issue is limited. I had a look into the error that you are receiving and it seems that LabVIEW can offer no explanation as it is undefined, it may be that this is a custom error message/code that was created by LeCroy.
I found this link to a Knowledge Base (KB) article that may be of use for you, it relates to communicating with 3rd party hardware in LabVIEW. Do you know if LeCroy provide another methodology you can try for controlling the device such as LabVIEW VIs or a DLL? Otherwise, I can only advise that a high success rate is usually achieved when using ActiveX with LabVIEW and that this issue may be due to a problem in the ActiveX library that is provided by LeCroy. For more information on ActiveX in LabVIEW, see this link. I will continue looking into this for you but I must reiterate that there is only so much I can do without having the hardware to recreate the problem.

  • Why does my Macbook Pro make every flash drive read only?

Anybody else having this problem? I can write to a flash drive once on my Macbook Pro. After I remove it, it becomes read-only, but only on my Macbook (I still have read/write access on other computers). Happens with every flash drive, regardless of brand or size. File systems are all FAT 32.

I'd make a sound too if i was put into a bag haha.
Only thing i could think of it it has a mind of its own or your putting your computer to sleep. Try shutting down your mac before placing in your bag and see if that changes things.
