Why does Firefox 7 does not find Java1.6 when running on a Win2000 PC

Operating system is Win2000
Java-version = 1.6.0_16
When going to the menu Tools->Add-Ons->Plugins Java is not there.

I have Avira Free. I've been using it, Windows 7 and Firefox on this machine for two years through multiple updates of Firefox. Never had this problem before the update to version 10 came out. I do have Secunia software running too, which occasionally jumps in and tells me when stuff is out-of-date, including Firefox. I just uninstalled Firefox 3.6, and did a total new reinstall, and am for sure running version 10 now. Yet Secunia thinks that I have out-of-date 3.6 which needs updating. So something is being left behind.

Why does a Finder window open when I start my computer?

It's been doing this for a while, and I find it highly annoying. If I want a Finder window, I'll open one. I believe it began with Lion. I have looked in the Finder preferences and system preferences to try to disable this, but I see no option to do it. How can I make this unwanted behavior stop?

Be sure that you have closed any Finder window before shutting down. Any windows left open will re-open when you restart.
Also check in your Login Items in Users & Groups Preferences.
In which directory does the Finder window open?
Lastly, check your system logs for an explanation. They should show why it is opening. Usually it is some other program that starts on boot and requires the Finder to open.

Why does notes remove the cursor when it updates

Hello Everyone,
I just downloaded the new Mountain Lion OS and I was excited about the syncing capability of the notes and reminders. After some effort I was able to get the notes to sync on my mac book and my Iphone. The problem is that after typing one work the bar at the top says updating, and it removes the cursor from the notes writing area. I have to click to get the cursor to appear again and then continue typing my note. This happens so frequently that it pretty much makes the app too annoying to use. Has anyone else run into this issue? Have any suggestions?

Hopefully, it's just a transient problem with the iCloud account. You might wait awhile and see if it goes away.
If it does persist, you might want to get in touch with iCloud support to see if they can shed any light on what the problem might be. To me it seems like the problem is on their end, not yours.

My MAC does not find my iPhone when trying to sync

I installed 'OS 10.10, yosemite, and when I plug my iPhone into the computer, it sees the phone, but after creating a new playlist on my mac, in iTunes, then try and syvc the two, the computer 'whirrs' for awhile and then comes back with the error message that the computer can't find my iPhone. This is the same computer I have had for a few years and this problem just happened after installing the latest software.
I'm going to try the iPad next and see what happens.

My network drives crashed and I was able to restore one with the exact same name and login. The second one I also created using the same name and login but it does not find the files when I click.

I get Connection failed when I click on the photo in IPhoto. This window keeps popping up and I have to force quit IPhoto.

iPhoto tracks referenced files using Aliases and this works just fine when the Library and the photos are on the same volume. However, Aliases won't survive being moved from one volume to another. This is why experienced users on here recommend against using Referenced Libraries in general, and in particular when the library and files are on different volumes.
Try repair the aliases with an app like FileBuddy If that fails then I'm afraid you'll need to do it manually for every photo in the Library, unfortunately.

I would try force quitting the app via the multitasking bar, restarting (power cycling your phone), and then resetting the phone (holding sleep/wake and home button for about 5 seconds or until it shuts off) first.

Why does it report missing *.dll when running standalone programs on a separate PC without LabVIEW?

I wrote a LabVIEW code to control GPIB, DAQ and Serial port. Then I built an installer including runtime engine. Everything works fine at the PC with the LabVIEW. I copy this installer folder to another computer without LabVIEW. I had no problem to install the program. But after I run the program, it started to ask for nilvaiu.dll. After I copied it under C\Windows\System32\, it started to ask for nimdbgu.dll, then niorbu.dll. Then it reported "The procedure entry point_pkgModulePackageEventLog@20 could not be located in the dynamic link library NIPALU.dll"
I guess it missed some drivers. So I installed NI-488.2 for Windows on the PC. But it did not solve the issue.

Does not keep accurate miles when running

I was wondering if anybody else has this problem with the 7th generation nano not accurately calculating miles ???

Go on a run that is, either 1 mile or 1/4 mile, I forgot, and then at the finish of the workout, scroll down, or up, I forgot again, and press calibrate. Wait- press the one mile run button then scroll and calibrate after going one mile. Sorry about being so unsure, I sold mine awhile ago so it is foggy in my head.

With Adobe Flash, the image is looking for a "zoom" setting and does not find it. The result is that the imbedded image is too large for the space allowed. Is there a zoom setting for Firefox?

When running FB game apps, the image loaded is too large for the FB space. The program looks for a "zoom" setting and does not find it. This was from the error screen. I have not been able to locate where the image zoom is located (found the font adjustment). I am new to FireFox and would like to sort this out please.

Why does not MBP find Canon's lousiest printer

Hi,
After changing hard drive my MBP does not find my canon LBP5050n printer any more. I have downloaded and installed the CAPTV320_MacOSX_ukEN.dmg driver but cannot find it in sys.prefs, print&fax, options&supplies when looking for the driver in the "select printer software" list.
Where does it go? This regardless of if I am using the netSpot_Device _Installer or not.
The IP adress is ok. MBP tries to communicate via an Airport (Time Capsule) attached to a TeleWell TW-EA501 modem. The TimeCapsule is connected to a Zyxel Ethernet Switch to which the printer is attached. All other attached printers work perfectly and the whole setup as well. The problem is this "slowest printer in the world".

I would say the answer is yes. You have forgotten how to add this printer. If you refer to Chapter 2 of the CAPT guide which is included with the download, it shows that to add your printer using the CAPT driver you need to select More Printers and then select "Canon USB (CUPS CAPT)" for a USB connected printer or "Canon IP (CUPS CAPT)" for a printer connected via Ethernet.
And this has nothing to do with Bonjour as Ham incorrectly suggested.

Why does debugger not find source code when compiler output has been directed to the root directory, but the source is in a sub-directory, using Forte for JAVA community edition V3.0

I have configured Forte to put compiler output, i.e. my classes, in the root directory of the project. I now find that the debugger does not find the source code when it is in a sub-directory. However, if I temporarily copy a classes' source code to the root directory the debugger will display it.
To direct compiler output to the root directory I selected Project >Settings>Compiler types, then External Compiler ( which is the default compiler in my case ) and set Target to be the root project directory. This is the only directory it will allow.

This Forum is for Forte 4GL or UDS as its called today. I am not sure if anybody is going to be able to answer your question here. Sorry.
