Why does Firefox have to make it so difficult to get answers--I am not going to be able to check the website to see what anyone might reply to my question on crashing?

I have no way of checking to see if anyone answers this. Why does Firefox have to make it so difficult?
What does this means: DLL C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\MOZCRT19.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
Suddenly all my tabs closed. Then Windows told me I had a gazillion infections. Then a tiny strip appeared saying it was Firefox and these little blocks started to fill up the little strip as if it were downloading something--there was no way to cancel this so I cut the power. Now when I try to use the Firefox icon, I get the message above.
Am I supposed to remove the old Firefox stuff and start from scratch? I am stuck using Internet Explorer.
I went to the Firefox website and tried to download it again, but McAffee jumped in and said there is something wrong with Firefox and I should register with them that I am downloading Firefox (I do not have McAffee). Then I got a security warning saying Firefox is not safe.
I am completely at a loss as to what to do next, since I don't understand any of this mumbojumbo.

Here's the story on one of your infections, namely JS:Redirector-EH[Trj]: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Trojan%3aJS%2fRedirector.H
The main problem with malware is that it uses the installation to proliferate by contacting hostile servers to download more of the same rogue code.
Firefox doesn't have the option to "Run" a file. You can only "Save File" or "Cancel". If you downloaded it with IE8, then yes, you can run it, but that's not what I wanted you to do.
What you should do now is to disable System Restore. You can open System Properties by hitting the Windows logo key and Pause/Break key together. Then click the "System Restore" tab. Then checkmark the box which says "''Turn off System Restore on all drives''". Reboot to clear its contents. System Restore unfortunately makes a backup of all executables which includes viruses so that when you reboot without deleting them first, System Restore reinstates them again.
After you complete that step, run Avast and Malwarebytes again to make sure the system is clean.
Then go to the Windows Update site (link on your start menu) and install the missing patches which enabled your machine to become infected in the first place.
Once the system is clean, repeat step one to download Firefox again, but please do not run the file. If you don't see the option to "Save File", cancel the download, but it should be there. You can use this direct download link to download FF4.0.1 [http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-4.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US Download Firefox 4.0.1]
Run the file after you download it to the desktop.

  • Why does Firefox have to beg for money, like the winos on the street ?

Why does firefox have to beg for money, like winos on the street ? If I had the money to donate, I gladly would, but I'm disabled on a fixed income and cannot afford to give money to anyone. I ran my own websites a few times, and never once begged for money to pay for my websites. Do you think everyone just sits back on their stack of cash, watching for any vultures that come around ? I've used firefox for 10 years, but if I'm no longer wanted, I will leave. Should I skip a few meals so I can send you 10 dollars, or cancel my doctor's visit for next week ? Maybe I could rake some yards in the neighborhood and make some extra money ? Wait, I can't walk but about 5 minutes, darn ! I had already dropped firefox for this very reason, and I thought the begging would be over, but it's still here ! Even microsoft and google recommend firefox ! It's a great browser, but I just can't afford to give money away. Maybe I could stop feeding my cat, I've heard they can survive without a human's help ? One of us would likely start eating the other ! Here kitty kitty !

You don't have to donate - just ignore the request and move on with your day.

  • HT1338 Why can't I update my iPad iso 4.2 version? I go to setting and it does not have it like it should. Why does apple have to make things so freaking hard! Help!

Why can't I update my iPad iso 4.2 version? I go to setting and it does not have it like it should. Why does apple have to make things so freaking hard! Help!

If you have an original iPad 1, the latest version of iOS it can run is iOS 5. So you should be able to update no problem.
Update iTunes to the latest version (11.0.2). Then simply plug your iPad into the computer and open iTunes. Click the iPad either in the sidebar or the top navigation bar. Then attempt to update the software. If it doesn't work, please post the exact error message.
Note that it would be wise to first ensure you back up the iPad.

How do I copy music from an old iPod?  Why do you have to make things so difficult?  These are my files that I paid for but once I put them on your devices, I no longer have control over them.  I've wasted so much time on these stupid problems.  I used to be able to do this until you "improved" things.

Thanks, Deggie. I thought Apple would see my feedback.  I would just like to know if there is a simple way to copy just a few music files from an old iPod.  I saw instructions on how to copy all of them from the iPod but it was complicated and I really didn't want to copy all the songs.  I guess I could delete all the songs but the ones I want to copy then go through that process again.  Do you know how to back up music to my computer?  I don't want to have to go through this again and possibly lose music.

  • After applying cure, why does Firefox still, stubbornly, make unrequested connections?

After meticulous care to follow the guides on the support link titled "Firefox makes unrequested connections" [... http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+makes+unrequested+connections?s=firefox+is+seeking+unrequested+website&as=s ...], Firefox is still trying to contact obscure sights like:
    iy-in-f104.1e100.net<br>
    yw-in-f121.1e100.net<br>
    iy-in-f103.1e100.net<br>
The above resolve to google. Yet I am not going to google and do not use the default search provided by Mozilla or Firefox browser. <b>What is causing this browser to go to google, even after I thought I had, several times, performed the cure to stop it from accessing un-requested websites in the back-ground?</b>
Firefox is acting mischievously, because it does this without being told to do that, and after I have asked it to stop. When it does go, it does not post any information on my browser telling me what it is doing.
After much effort to get it to stop, I consider this to be a nuisance that it is stubborn and acts on a hidden code to defeat my requests and actions trying to prevent it. This is the same behavior as malware and viruses that dial back to a location, do not announce what it is doing, and will not stop, after many hours of effort trying to instruct (reverse coding to get) it to stop.
I have now spent about 5-6 hours trying to figure what is the cause, and as such, it can be categorized as time wasted as when dealing with malware, that does not inform the end user what it is going to do prior to installation nor announce it, as it is being done, in the background.
Sometimes Firefox performs a hiccup and tries to change my update settings back to a condition of seeking to update itself or update its addons or updates its search (all options under the updates tab). Furthermore, Firefox has acted on routine of once or twice a month to change from "asking me what I want to do with updates," to "install automatically." Many times in the last 6 months I have seen it was trying to executive a program of updating, when it was not authorized to do such a thing, and was there to cancel this execution-sequence, if not too late. In this 6 to 7 instances, I have been prompted to go back and observe if Firefox is changing my settings by executing hidden code or back door code. In each instance all my update settings have been changed.
I have to go back inside the browser options, and deselect all the updates and also change from "install automatically" to "ask me what I want to do." This is even more curious because, such items were set to "false" via about:config as per instructions in the support link above. Have double checked addons, to make sure they are not trying to update.
In conclusion, this is obviously not a bug, as it is so deliberate and happens on some routine. It seems to a happen irregardless of what "version" or update is being used; including many updated versions since Jan 2010. Also what ever it is, an execution of code or backdoor to trigger same, it is not described in the readme file that comes with firefox.
So how about the programmers of Firefox stop belittling us by employing the same gimmicks as malware and tell us what is up with this: seeking unrequested websites and not announcing that it is occurring, when it is occurring.

Was able to edit original post. (Thank you.)

  • Why does Firefox have 2 separate version-release-schedules?

I am on 3.6.25 and it's been upgrading within the 3.6 family even while v.9.0.1 is already out there. What is the reason behind the two parallel release schedules and why does it not just upgrade to 9.0.1 automatically?

I am sure there must be some good reason as I recall it as being a fairly solid decision, & seem to recall there was consideration being given to an even more radical option of stopping 64 bit Windows development entirely.

  • Why does Firefox Sync say my recovery key has been changed when I do not have another device to change it?

I am trying to perform my first sync, but the progress bar on the tab that opens up does not move. I've left it overnight and still no change. When I click sync now, a message appears stating that I am using the Wrong Recovery Key. I've tried using the same key, and generating a new one several times with no success.

    Hi,
You can type '''about:sync-log''' in the location (address) bar to check the helpful messages. You can also try [https://account.services.mozilla.com/ deleting the current account] and start afresh.

  • I had a HD crash and rebuilt system. Trying to setup sync and keep getting wrong key on verify even though it is the one I have always used. I have an account but cannot verify or create new one. Why does this have to be so damn difficult?

Had a main system drive go out. Replaced and reloaded and now trying to get firefox sync to work and when I put in login info and my key it says wrong key but I do not have any other key and have used this key for years.
Can someone help me fix this without having to recreate a whole new account?

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • Why does Apple have to make updates every month, outdating any games or any software that you had?

I am frustrated because I just bought a new game and it would be really fun if Apple didn't make Lion, outdating the game, just so I could use "the App Store." They advertise it as being everything, but my computer is old so I CAN'T use the magnificent trackpad stuff and all that. All I get is the App store, some new desktop pics, and no compatibility with anything, which, I feel, doesn't make sense? Can anyone answer why they have to do this to a loyal customer?

One of the solutions to the problem of having either (1) an older OS which will run some of my favorite apps, and (2) having an up-to-date OS which can't run some of my favorite apps but which does allow me access to various new-fangled things like iCloud, is to...
    ...have both.
Partition your hard drive, or use a bootable external hard drive (or both). Have different OS versions on different volumes, and boot into them as needed.
    Example -
Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) will run PPC apps, such as AppleWorks and Diablo II. When I want to use those, I boot using the partition on which I have 10.6.8.
When I want to use iCloud features, etc., I boot using a partition on which I have Lion.

  • Why does Verizon have to make a phone look ugly with it's logo???

So, I have this nice otherwise good looking phone, except for the freaking Verizon logo on the front of the glass at the top. I was looking at other providers' G3 and none of them did that. What is up with this and why do they feel the need to do this? Verizon didn't make this phone so they need to get their branding off of it. Stuff like this makes me want to go back to AT&T, and I think is the reason Verizon doesn't even get some of the nice phones that come out...........AT&T will at least allow them (and they work because of GSM) on their network. Anyway sorry for the rant.......just aggravated.

If that is all that is bothering you having branding on a cell phone, then god bless you.
The branding is money for Verizon and LG. The phone don't work any different from non branded LG phones.
if you go to a carrier as soon as the phone comes on you see all the Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile or AT&T internal crap.
That would or should tick you off more.
Loads of other problems in the world much more important than branding on a cellular phone.

  • Why does Firefox have a constant problem finding servers?

Firefox is constantly unable to find servers, even after succesfully loading a web page. When I hit reload it scampers off and finds the server immediately (most of the time -- occasionally I have to punch it twice), but if I leave the tab open, sure as death and taxes, the message will reappear after a while. It doesn't matter what website I am on. Also, I have recently lost the ability to right click on a blank spot on a page and select "reload every ____", where I could select from a variety of time intervals for the page to reload automatically. Before this feature quit, when I had it enabled there seemed to be fewer "can't find server" episodes, but perhaps it was just that the reload would hit every once in a while and the server would miraculously appear.
I would dearly love to fix this. It has not happened in previous versions of Firefox. (I assume I have the latest version, because it updates automatically.) I don't like IE and Chrome is so cheerfully nosy that I rarely use it.
I have talked to others who have had this problem to the extent that they don’t use Firefox anymore. I have used it practically since the begats and I don’t want to jump ship. Please help.

Note that Firefox uses the "chrome://" protocol to access its own internal files and also access files from extensions, so that has nothing to do with Google Chrome.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Why does firefox have trouble scrolling up and down?

happens in facebook, google+, and even addon screen, and even this screen (the question form i am typing in right now)
when i try to scroll up or down it takes a second or so and then jumps, rather than scrolling

i am curious what autoscrolling does, no difference; the others were checked already
i think it has to do with the memory stack becoming too large, after much browsing, multiple tabs, etc.
it works ok, if it is recently opened with just a few tabs
what really worked for me was:

  • Why does Firefox have trouble displaying certain Unicode Plane 1 characters (specifically, Phoenician)?

Hi. I'm trying to get Firefox to display characters from ancient scripts. I have installed all the necessary fonts, and changed the encoding to Unicode. When I try to view Phoenician and Imperial Aramaic characters (other scripts too), I just get boxes with numbers (10900 and so forth). I have a laptop that is able to display these characters but I need to be able to see them on my current system.

    Try installing the font "aegean".

  • Why does Firefox have problems printing Yahoo finance portfolio pages?

Current versions (34.0) of Firefox on Windows and Mac both have printing problems when printing from the Yahoo Finance portfolio website. I don't have problems when printing from IE, Safari, or Opera. Firefox prints a header on page 1 then pages 2 and 3 on top of each other. It doesn't include every stock that I had in my portfolio either. The portfolio page has an interesting feature where it keeps the header of the page at the top and scrolls the rest of the page under it. This probably is what is messing up FF's printing but the other browser vendors don't have a problem. I'm working this problem for my father-in-law who's running Windows 7 while I'm on a Mac running Yosemite. I can duplicate the problem on Windows 7, XP, and OSX all running the latest version of FF. To test, I created a portfolio with a bunch of random stocks then tries printing. I got perfect output on every browser except FF.
Sorry, I'm not installing any other Firefox software. This problem is on the platforms I mentioned. I can submit a pdf of sample output, both good and bad, if you like.

More info. I have AdBlock running and thought that might have been the reason I could print from Safari but installing AdBlock on Firefox gave me the same results. Yahoo has a bunch of ads under the header and some use Flash. Having them there doesn't affect printing on other web browsers. I created a pdf file then opened it in a drawing problem and noticed a huge blank block in the middle of page one. This is what is pushing the stock data down to page 2. It shouldn't be there so FF is interpreting the ad area with the scrolling as a large block instead of ignoring it. I added three images. The first shows a correct page 1 (Safari), while the next two show how FF prints it.

  • Why does Firefox have inline Hook on Ntdll.dll?

I find Firefox V3 to V14 all have this feature. It is a bad idea to hook system functions!
