Why does Firefox re-download a web page that has already appeared in my browser? VERY time-consuming! Chrome just saves from the cache!

Every time I go to save a web page or image, Firefox insists on re-downloading the page/image, which consumes a great deal of time. Chrome (and my other browsers) seem to save the item directly from the cache or memory, which is MUCH FASTER! Is there an option to make Firefox save more rapidly, ie directly from cache or memory, so I don't have to sit (and swear and fume) while the file is being RE-downloaded??

600+ MB does sound like a lot, but that depends on what you are using as your homepage, and how much of that 600 is being used by the plugin container - Flash and other plugins. Also, using that amount might have to do with how much RAM you have installed - the more RAM installed and the more Firefox allows itself to use. Why does Firefox take me to a page that says, "Oops Page cannot be found" when I click on a link in a secure site. Not with IE: only Firefox.

If I go to a secure site and click on a link, it take me to "Oops Page cannot be found". I have reset Firefox, uninstalled it and re installed it, disabled my Add Ons, and every other suggestion from the forum. Nothing works and this does not happen with IE. Did you disable all the extensions before restarting?
If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

On Firefox v.21, when I visit a web page that has an embedded video, I do NOT want it to play automatically. How do I turn this OFF?

I checked my options settings for applications, and all of the known apps that play various formats of video files appear to be set to 'Always ask'. This does not resolve this problem, however. What I want to do is to set Firefox to NEVER automatically play ANY video that is part of a web page that I visit.

Why does firefox beta download ask for adminstrator password but when I put it in, its says wrong password or user name?

whenever I try to download firefox beta on my laptop it asks for an adminstrator password but when i put it in it says wrong user " name or password" so I try to by pass that by trying to download as user but then nothing happens the dialog box disappears and I have to start the download all over again. I'm trying to sync firefox with my android phone but I can't get the desktop/laptop version going.

Since installing Windows 7 there have been some weird goings on with my laptop.
I kept muddling around with this and ran a few diagnostics only to find that everything was fine. There was an incompatibility problem with Windows 7 and Firefox (safe mode) which I cared for by simply agreeing with everything Windows 7 wanted to do. It made an adjustment and apparently between the two programs they worked it out.
I tried downloading Firefox 4 beta one more time...using a fresh download in my Firefox browser and from the Firefox webpage. Oddly, this time the program downloaded saved itself to my laptop. I was able to open and install it without incident.
Now, I am all sync'd up!

Why does Firefox display only half a page when system is coming out of a resolution change from a game?

When I leave Firefox open in the background while playing Dungeons and Dragons Online, when I close DDO and open Firefox again, it only displays half a page and the bottom browser bar is less than half way down the screen. The rest is just blank space like the browser was shrunk and then enlarged again, but the display window in the browser didn't readjust again. I have to close FF and reopen again to fix it. It used to be that the empty space was white. A recent update now causes that space to be RED when it occurs. Not sure if that helps any. I don't have any other games right now, so I haven't tested this with other games, but this ONLY happens to FF!

I suspect if may be caused by an extension that was recently updated, but no ideas about which one it may be. This is about all I can figure to do right now until we have more information related to this new issue.

Why does firefox repeatedly send message stating reset link has been sent to email when it never is sent

I'm trying to log in to my account. Firefox says my password is invalid. Firefox also says it has sent a reset link to my email. That reset link never arrives although I repeatedly ask to sent the link, and Firefox repeatedly indicates that link has been successfully sent.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

Firefox will not open web pages that are called from the mail program that comes with Vista, anyone out there have a solution?

My problem is when using the mail client that comes with Vista any url in an email message will not load in the browser, a new tab is created and has the url from the mail message but that is as far as I get. Why does Firefox 12 quit opening emails after it has successfully opened many beforehand?

When I click on an emails label, Firefox opens it so I may read it. However, after successfully opening several such emails, the system will then stop doing so. Instead all it does is change the unread email's label from being 'bold' (indicating an unread email) to just normal (indicating the email has been read - even though it has not).

Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by 'email client'. I am running Firefox 12.
The system hangs at various random points. For instance, it will hang if I click to open an email; if I try to delete one; etc. It does this after I've been using Firefox for 15-30 minutes.
Now lately (in about the last week), it has not frozen on me. But I can't rule out that it won't again because it does not hang consistently every day.
As for trying it is Safe Mode, I could try that, but it may take at least 2 weeks of usage before I would feel comfortable giving you the results. Even at that, they would be questionable - simply because of the randomness of the problem.

Why does firefox require downloading jpgs as chrome documents?

when I go to download some jpgs, but not always, the only format suggested is chrome document. I can't detect a pattern. Any help appreciated.

Aw, c'mon. Writing to the Windows registry never requires a reboot. This is ridiculous.
And Firefox did not need that bad behavior up to version 8 either. Why now?
This is not a Windows issue. You cannot alter files in Linux either if they are currently locked. The thing is that there is no sensible reason for any Firefox-related files to be locked at uninstallation time, which is why there should be no problem removing them.
I do not mean to rant, even though I am disappointed by this new behavior and would like to have it changed, but the least thing I really would like to know is exactly what is causing this. Why have the new versions of Firefox been programmed to require a reboot? Exactly which files need to be removed or changed that cannot be removed/changed during regular uninstallation, so that their removal/change needs to be scheduled for the next restart of Windows?

Why does Firefox re-jump to a page when it is finished loading or when automatically refreshing?

If I change tabs or windows within Firefox or switch from Firefox to another open programme running, and the browser page has not completely loaded (or sometimes refreshes due to automatic updating) what I see on the monitor is not the tab or window highlighted in the tab bar (or for that matter programme highlighted in the taskbar). Firefox just jumps back on its own accord and leaves me with often with a view that is conglomeration of the reloading page and the other programm I am working on.

Why does firefox not load my yahoo toolbar that I have personalized with my apps. I am so try of this crap! What is the problem?????

When I load Firefox my Yahoo toolbar with all my links that I use does not load! I've been dealing with this for a long time! And as much as I hate Internet Explorer, you are forcing me to go back to it after 3 years with Firefox! Why dose your program have to be so uncooperative. If I can't access my program with ease, what good are you? I don't have this problem with IE. I have been using Firefox because it's so much faster than IE. But If I have to waste all this time trying to re-install Yahoo toolbar or type in Internet addresses, You really are no better, even worse!

Why does maverick show download on purchases after it has been installed

installed maverick os from app store, completes download, after restart, when i go back into app store purchases, it has download in the right hand side column, anyone else had the same problem.
