Why does Firefox say "This Connection is Untrusted" for most websites?

Firefox tells me the connection isn't trusted for pretty much every site I attempt to go to. I can't bypass it and I have tried everything I read in the support articles, changed settings, resetting and restarting etc. Nothing works. Please help!

Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details to expand this section. If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
* Name associated with your security software, such as ESET, BitDefender, etc.
* FiddlerRoot (usually indicates unwanted software being installed named similarly to BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard; see [/questions/982532#answer-520145])
* Sendori (indicates unwanted software from Sendori; see [/questions/861138])

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Trying to access any website and I get the "this connection is untrusted" error come up.
Sites like the FireFox addons, Facebook, Tumblr, etc etc.
I've tried adjusting my date and time (although it already is on the correct date and time..) and still, nothing.

You can see that the certificate is issued by your security software (Firewall): ESET SSL Filter CA 
So you will have to disable that filter or install the ESET root certificate that chains to that certificate.

I have been having the same problem, chased my tail around for ages and then realised that my system clock was out of date because my laptop battery is toast.
I reset my clock to today's date and the certificate errors disappeared.

But once you load the new one you cannot easily go back.. you can load an older 5.6 version though.. instructions below.

Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg

Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.
Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so.

I tried to log into a site that I use on a daily basis for my freelance writing. In the middle of the page - where it lists my reports - is a box that says, "This connection is untrusted." I read some other Help articles and one said there should be three options, one which allows me to continue. In my instance, there were no options to do anything to continue or to leave the page.
