This feature has always worked perfectly on all my windows XP computers,but not at all on any of my versions of firefox on windows 7.How can i fix this? Why does it not work?

Having seleted some text on a web page which is the only information I would like to print, I seem to be unable to preview what the printed page will look like using the "Selection" option in the Print Range section of the "Print" Menu from the Print Preview window. The radio button for "Selection" is not selectable!
I am able to do this using Internet Explorer, which is probably my main reason for using that browser but would like to use a similar feature in FirefoxThat connection is supported for tethering....

New windows in Firefox 29 on Windows 8.1 don't open fully maximized when clicked through a link
New problem in firefox 29:
When I click a link that opens the new page in a new window, the window pops open in the last partially maximized state that it was in. Should I maximize the new window (in Windows 8.1) and close it and re-click the original link, the window opens again in the partially maximized state, not the last fully maximized state that I previously closed it in.
To create it as I've encountered it:
-go to https://news.google.com
-click on any article. the default behavior should be to open the article in a new window
-the window won't be maximized in my experience
-you can maximize the window and then close the window/ article
-re-click on the same article and the new window should appear again in the non-maximized state, not the fully maximized state that you closed it in previously
One point of note. Right-clicking the same link that opens the new window and specifically choosing "Open Link in New Window" DOES open the new window in a fully maximized state. I repeat, the new window does open fully maximized when you choose "Open Link in New Window" from the right-click drop downs menu. But, this doesn't happen with the simple left-click, which I'm concerned with.Reverted back to version 28.0, 29 just isnt working, layout is a mess. (Ok i got the old layout back by installing and setting up Classic Theme Restorer, but once you remove the orange title bar, the screen resize bug appears.) Also its a very bad thing such a large graphical overhaul took place without prior notice. If i wanted google Chrome i would have just installed that, dont need FF to provide me with it. Might upgrade again if bugs and layout are changed, otherwise ill stay with 28.0 or maybe start using Waterfox.

Why does the revealed image flicker when using the Show/Hide feature?
I started using the Show/Hide Button and Forms function in InDesign CS6 and have had some peculiar things happen. I was mocking up some samples and on the swf version if you hover over the left side of the blue rectangle all is fine but if you move to the right side of the blue rectangle the image starts to flicker. When you hover over the red rectangle the pop-up image just flickers constantly. I guess there must be some issue with having the button for a revealed image under some portion of the revealed image. The problem went away when the button and the revealed image did not overlap.
This problem didn't occur with another file I had originally created in CS5.

there's an "x" in the bottom left corner instead of the way it use to be also. I am totally frustrated because Im not a computer whiz and dont know how to get things back to their original position. Ive read the troubleshooting responses. it does not hel.
Were you using an add-on or extension that has disappeared after updating to Firefox 12 ??

Does anyone else have to renew their DHCP Lease every 30 seconds when using the internet?
Everytime I want to use the internet for surfing the web or browsing iTunes etc I have to go into System Preferences and navigate through to a button that says "Renew DHCP Lease". If watching catch-up TV online I have to click this button every 30 seconds or so because the programme freezes, and if I'm surfing the web or browsing iTunes I have to click it every time I want to update the content of the page. Does anybody know what my problem might be?
This Fix has got things working for me.
I have reprinted this response from another thread I have made (Repost) A number of people were asking me about my fix, so I have expanded my response to hopefully offer a little more clarity.
I was having this problem the other night after I finished doing a massive upgrade to our Home Network (New Router, Modem, Cabling, Etc)
I had to reset my DHCP lease every few minutes, in the end I found Mac Mini's IP Address kept setting itself to other items on the Network, I have some items connected on wired (ethernet) and some were connected on WiFi (Airport Extreme) after clicking the DHCP Lease Renew the Mac Mini would grab an IP address that it thought was available but then another item on my network would "check in" then we would have a clash, The Mac Mini was grabbing what it thought was an available IP address, the DHCP Renew button was not setting the Mac Mini's IP number far enough away to stop the clash.
I was watching the items on my Routers Attached devices screen, The Mac Mini would show up on the page with its new address (after hitting the DHCP Renewal button) then something else would check in with that exisiting IP Address, clash and the Mac Mini would need it's DHCP lease renewed again.
My Network consists of:
- Mac Mini (Wired)
- Acer Laptop (Wired)
- PS3 (1) (wired)
- Apple TV (wired)
- Airport Extreme (wired and looking ater WiFi duties throughout the house)
- PS3 (2) (WiFi)
- TV (WiFi)
- iPad (WiFi)
- Nexus 7 (WiFi)
- Printer (WiFi)
I'll be the first to admit my Networking knowledge is limited (and I'm learning more all the Time) but I simply went into the preferences panel and set the IP address manually.
1. I went into Preferences and selected Network
2. Set Configure IPV4 to: using DHCP with manual address
Now it helped I had my NetGear Routers "Attached devices" Page open here so I could see the address of everything else on my network (I went and switched everything on that was web connected so it would be logged in and running on the network) I looked at the last digit or 2 of every item on my network and then set my new IP address.
3. To ensure I wouldn't have any more clashes I set my new IP address far away from the the others* your only changing the last digit or 2 of the IP address, so in the case of my Mac Mini it went from
xxx.xxx.02 to xxx.xxx.0.52 (note the x's are normally your IP address numbers)
*I originally set it to xxx.xxx.09 but I since found the TV had that IP address (The one thing I forgot to check the previous night) so I this is when I decided to set it far away from the rest of the bunch by setting it to .52 (No specific reason for 52, that was just the 1st number to pop into my head)
Now that was over a week ago and since then I have had no more issues on my Network, so far everything is running smooth and fast. (It has now been over 3 weeks since I posted this, and everything is still working perfectly, I suggested this solution to 2 friends having the same issue and it also fixed there problems as well)
I'm not saying this is the be all and end all to the problem, there must be a more permanent solution out there, but this is working for me so far. -
So my Macbook Pro 2011 that isn't even a year and a half old only lasts me about 2 hours of battery. My brightness is set to only 4 notches most of the time and I mostly have google chrome and itunes or spotify open when I am using it. I have to charge it about 2 times a day. My old original unibody macbook lasted a longer time than this. Today, my fans were running faster than normal and my battery drained 20 percent in less than a half hour.

it was using 53.5% of you CPU. Which if used over a long period of time, a lot of battery will be used and it will drain quickly, try figuring out what this is and use it less often, or try deleting it if it is not important. -
After automatic installation of Firefox 19 the Norton Toolbar has disappeared.
The extension of Norton Toolbar 2013.2.4.2 has been set off.
I use Windows XP, everything is fully updated including Norton Live Update, but nothing works.
You can find the same problem with older versions by others.
Why don't they work together to avoid that my weekend vanishes in searching for solutions.
All these automatic 'solution finders' are a ruin for an old user.
Perhaps you can help, thank youThank you all for your reactions. This morning the problem is solved by the helpdesk of Norton Symantec. The problem on my Vaio XP was extra: the old toolbar was set off by Firefox, but could't be removed.
Therefore they had to remove Norton completely and then reinstall the whole program.
That deliverd the solution: extension 2013.2.4.2 was removed and replaced bij 2013.3.1.3.
I think that these kind of problems could be avoided when we could remove the disabled extension, so it wouldn't block the new one??
My problem is now solved. I hope someone else can use this. Thank you! -
I have a user who is a Sharepoint site owner (of the site in question) who just received a new machine, but every time she opens a document from our SharePoint site and then tries the "Save As.." option it hangs trying to contact the sharepoint
site. The specific message is "Contacting: (insert sharepoint site). Press ESC to cancel."
Sometimes when you choose ESC it allows you to save do what Save As should have done, but other times it will hang at Not Responding and freeze the application. I have tried repairing Office reloading IE and even gave the user a new profile, but nothing
has fixed it.
She can do this without any issue on other machines and I have found that even when I log on with my administrative privelidges I have the same issue. I have one co-worker who was able to get things to function normally however which makes this even
more frustrating.

Reading your comments I do not see that rolling back to an insecure Firefox 22 will actually help you much. You are probably best using IE, unless you have also damaged that.

Most others will not be having such problems. We are now able to say that with confidence because after developers missed a regression in Firefox 4 telemetry was introduced so that data was obtained. It may be an idea to turn on your telemetry, if you have not already done so, and decide to stick with Firefox.

It should. It will only respond if there's something on the card for it to respond to, so do you have pics on the card?
And if it's messing up; try giving the iPad a restart. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see hte red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. That can clear up any glitches on the device itself. -

If I understand correctly, JRockit's class libraries are exactly the same as Sun's.
Sun has already released update 8 for their 1.5.0 JRE, and JRockit is still at update 6, which means that the class library bugs fixed in update 7 and 8 are still present in JRockit.

Doesn't the VM development happen separate from the class libraries? It should be possible to release a new JRE with the "stable", QA'd JRockit VM and the newest class library (with all its bug fixes) within a week or so, instead of months.The class libraries are almost identical, correct. But a JDK update from Sun almost always contains changes in other components than just the class libraries. Some of these affect JRockit, in particular the native libraries (AWT, I/O, etc). Changes in the class libraries may cause performance or stability regressions.
With every release of JRockit we certify our JDK (Sun classes + JRockit JVM + other components) on a large number of platforms. We did a count earlier this year and came up with around 80 different combinations of JDK level, OS and hardware that we have to test in every release by the end of this year.
On these platforms we run a huge set of tests, including performance and stress tests. Even though a large part of our QA is automated, it is simply not possible to run everything in parallel so there is a certain minimum amount of time this certification takes. On top of that we have a set of time-consuming tests that have to be run manually.
To summarize it is simply not possible to do this without some lag. And JRockit has a much quicker uptake than almost all other 3rd party JDK providers (many of them with JVMs based on Sun HotSpot). One example is that it took IBM almost 18 months to get their first J2SE 5.0 implementation out of the door. -
