Why does FP Advise sometimes erroneously return terminated?

I am running a multi-threaded LV 5.1 app with fieldpoint and a NI-4060 dmm. Sometimes, the first call to FP Advise returns terminated as true. This never happened when using a NI-4050 dmm. Are there other interactions between these two systems I need to know about?

The FieldPoint driver is totally independant of the drivers for the NI-4050 DMM, there should be no interaction between them at all. A couple of questions, what are you using as the Advise Rate input to the FP Advise.vi, a rate that is too small (e.g. 0) can sometimes cause erroneous behavior. To avoid this, the default is set to 10 ms starting in FieldPoint Explorer 2.0.3 or 2.0.4, but if you are using an older version, this may be the cause. What version of FieldPoint Explorer are you using? Alternatively, how many I/O points are in your IAK file and what type of network module are you using. An extremely large IAK (e.g. several hundred to several thousand points) that has numerous ethernet points will take longer to launch the server so it is possible that the
server has not finished connecting to all of the I/O points by the time you do the first advise which could return the improper information that the server is not online ("terminated"). If this is the case, a small delay before you start the Advise should clear this up.

Aaron

  • Why does the scrollbar sometimes appear then disappear?

Why does the scrollbar sometimes appear but then disappear? When I open a window the scrollbar is sometimes there for a just few seconds. If I select it within a few seconds and use it everything works fine. If I don't use it, it disappears and I can't get it back. How do I get the scroll bar back? Why won't the scrollbar show up at all on web pages?

It's a feature which is supposed to enhance your interface with your Mac and its operating system on screen. It is a "visual aid" that is meant to remove on screen clutter.
You can go to 'system prefs/ click general/ click 'Show scroll "Always button"
    There you go

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Why does my mac sometimes freeze when waking up?

Why does my mac sometimes freeze when waking up?  It only happens sometimes, but also happens spontaneously.  21' iMac 2011 model.  It just started recenlty after a new firmware update from apple.  Any advice or reasons why would be appreciated.

boot to lion recovery and run verify/repair on the hard drive. verify will say: appears to be okay OR needs to be repaired. No matter what outcome, you will repair anyways (as it will do some updating on the volume)
Process: hold command R during startup/ wait till you see mac os utility (might have to select english as the main language first) then disk utility/ select macintosh HD on the left, and then verify/repair on the right bottom side. Cheers!

Why does "Find Friends" sometimes show a big, purple circle around the friend I'm locating?  Not the small dot that *is* the friend, but a larger radius...

  • Why does the scroll sometimes not work?

I know this question has been posted before, but my problem is slightly different. I have synpatics touchpad with my laptop. Sometimes, the touchpad scrolling does not work, but my actual wireless mouse scrolling works. Sometimes my wireless mouse scrolling does not work, but my touchpad scrolling works. Why does this happen? The problem itself is not consistent.
The scrolling usually stops suddenly. Scrolling works perfectly fine for a webpage, but then it stops working during the middle of my scrolling. This problem started to bug me.
The problem still exists with Firefox reinstalled and without add-ons.

Does this happen on another browser? (eg. Chrome, IE)

  • Why does "Date Created" sometimes show dashes instead of a date?

My finder shows four dashes ("----") for the "date created" on a large percentage of my files. When I look at the properties of those files, there are "Created" dates on them. Some of the files are .PDF, some are .doc (I haven't checked for .xls or .txt files). Why does this happen, and what can I do to fix it so the "date created" is in the finder window?
    Thanks!

Perhaps that information isn't in the file. It may have been lost through various copy events on machines that did not recognize the information or where the information was lost during transfers to and from Windows or Linus servers.

  • Why does my WRT54g sometimes give me a 169.254 address???

I have a WRT54G with firmware v1.01.0, Sep. 14, 2006. I've got an Apple G5 attached to it through one of the hardwired ethernet ports, connecting via DHCP. Once in a while, I'll get an address like 169.254.236.186 and can't connect. I have another Mac attached through a linksys wireless to ethernet bridge, and that one gets this kind of address all the time, needing to "renew DHCP lease" every couple of hours, to get a normal 192.168 address back. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Why does it give out such weird addresses? Mike Levin

When the computer fails or face the problem to get the IP from router automatically, then it will assign 169.254.x.x IP. Check the DHCP setting on wireless router and ensure you assigned big enough DHCP IP range. Also you can take a look on this wireless router configuration help..

  • Why does road runner sometimes hold up/not deliver to my .me account.  I am advising all of my contacts to use neither until resolved

Several instances of RR messages undelivered or tardy.  One shows a 3 day delay!  The others show multiple attempts to deliver, with rejections from my .me account.  All addresses were valid, and I get all other mail without known problems on .me

Thank you.  I looked, and saw that mine is not unique.
I am having the same problem, randomly.  Some rr's are not being sent to the .me server.
    Rather than fight this battle,

    2. I shall advise all my rr friends that rr service is unreliable
    3.  I shall retreat to a proven email server

  • Why does SQL Developer sometimes refuse to activate the debug controls?

I can find the procedure or package that I want to work in, compile it for debug, set break points, provide the required input parameters, and sometimes SQL Developer works as expected. That is, it activates the debug control buttons (step into, step over, etc.) But, other times, it just leaves them greyed out. Why? I find this frustrating.
OK, maybe my version of SQL Developer is a bit old, but I have seen this occasionally in every version of Sql Developer I have used. I now have SQL Developer 2.1.0.63. We have an Oracle11.1.0.7 database. I have a 64-bit Windows7 desktop. I think my Java version is also a bit old, but it seems to be compatible with the EBS R12.0.6 application that I need to support. I'm not a Java expert. If I go to a C:\ prompt, and type: "java -version", It returns: "1.4.2_04".

    >
I now have SQL Developer 2.1.0.63.

Maybe so but why aren't you using the latest 3.x version? There have been many bug fixes and new functionality since the version you are using.
    >
I think my Java version is also a bit old
    >
You think? Java 7 is out so version 1.4.2 is definitely old. And especially if you support EBS because I think R12 itself uses Java 1.5
You may want to check the EBS forum
    Java/JRE Version compatabile for R12.0.6
And now you have an Oracle 11.1 database?

Please note that JDK 1.4 is not supported by the 11 drivers.

Did you notice that last line?
You may want to rethink your plan to use those older versions of Java and SQL Developer.

  • Why does SQL Developer sometimes not allow me to "Disconnect"?

Sometimes when I'm ready to close SQL Developer, I try to get out gracefully, but the "Disconnect" option for the only connection I have open is greyed out. Why? The only option I know then is to close SQL Developer by clicking the "x" in the upper, right corner.
My version of SQL Developer is a bit old: I have SQL Developer 2.1.0.63.

Actually, I think the link Alessandro posted is helpful. I cannot reproduce the behavior on Win XP, but can on Linux (somewhat). That is, Properties gets greyed out at times, but not Disconnect or Apply Filter. Retrying the right-click resolves the problem, as he notes.
So I assume my point (1) would be more nearly correct if restated as "Bug or timing issue".
As for (3), I really cannot give a good example. If I open a Tool menu item like Monitor SQL or Monitor Sessions on, say, the SYSTEM user, the Disconnect option is not greyed out and if used will close all the open windows for that connection. If I run Debug on a package/procedure/function, Disconnect also remains enabled. Clicking on it produces a "Cannot Disconnect" dialog warning with this text: "The database connection cannot be closed while an active debugging session exists". Perhaps I'm mistaken entirely, or just confused after seeing that behavior on some older version of SQL Developer
