Why does ical sync 5 hours earlier than iphone

When events on the iphone calendar transfer to ical the dates show a 5 hour difference. the imac time zone is US Central (DST) and the iphone is has automatically set the time zone when I entered Milwaukee in the clock.

Damon's post is correct, but you don't have to disable the Time Zone to get this to work. Just set the time zone there in addition to the clock app. (I had choosen a time zone in the clock app, but the Date & Time - Time Zone value was empty and I was 'losing' 3 hours.)
Settings -> General -> Date & Time -> Time Zone -> (Enter/pick a city)
It just works (now)!

  • Why does iCal sync via dotMac suddenly fail with Tiger

I've read about the Leopard and Tiger-to-Leopard syncing issues with iCal, but I have an issue that is just with Tiger (10.4.11). I have two machines running the same version of MacOS (one Intel, one PowerPC) in different countries, and a live dotMac subscription. I have a small collection of calendars which are set to auto-publish after each change. This system has worked fine for a long time, and it enables me to use the same calendar in both my main locations.
Last Saturday, 8th March, I shut down one of these machines (in France) and moved to the other one (in England). I then tried to sync the English machine, and it did do an update of my calendars, but it turned out (from the dotMac 'advanced' pane in System Preferences) that dotMac sees the last sync for the French machine as being on 13 February, whereas it was in use every day up to 8 March. Something must have turned off the auto-publish feature on my French machine - but what could that be? I see that the dotMac Sync engine (whatever that is) was last updated on 9 March - this is probably when I first tried to sync the English machine.
Can anyone suggest what went wrong? I have not consciously changed any parameters for iCal or dotMac for a long time.

Hi - I am the original poster on this topic. I have now moved my UK machine to France, and it's sitting in the same room as my other Mac. As before, I have a small set of calendars (only one is relevant) and I am running the same version of iCal on each machine sync'd via dotMac. Let's call the machines A and B,
A few hours ago, I added an event on machine A. I then used the Sync feature of dotMac (accessed via System Preferences) to make sure that this machine was sync'd with dotMac. The date and time of this was confirmed by the 'advanced' info in the System Prefs DotMac screen. I then used the "show Calendar on dotMac" feature for the relevant calendar, and I saw my new event available there.
I then went to machine B and went through the same Sync sequence, but my new event didn't show up. That was some hours ago and it still isn't present. If I do "show Calendar on dotMac" on machine B, I see machine B's version of the calendar, the one without the new event!
The URL for the B version of the calendar is
    http://ical.mac.com/WebObjects/iCal.woa/wa/default?d=25&u=livfoss&v=0&y=2008&m=4 &n=Raissac.ics
    and for A it's
    http://ical.mac.com/WebObjects/iCal.woa/wa/default?u=livfoss&n=Raissac.ics
Clearly there are differences, but I have no idea what they mean.
What do I have to do to get the most up-to-date version of my calendar show up in iCal on machine B? I am completely stumped.

  • TS1702 The Calendar app that came on my i4S Phone does not sync the correct time for items posted on my Yahoo Calendar.  Actually, they post exactly 4 hours earlier than the correct time on my Yahoo Calendar.  Does anyone have a "fix" to correct the "time

The Calendar app that came on my i4S Phone does not sync the correct time for items posted on my Yahoo Calendar. Actually, items post exactly 4 hours earlier than the correct time on my Yahoo Calendar.   My i4S is in the correct New York time zone.  Help?

I posted this question a while ago and didn't receive any responses but there are a lot of people who have viewed it and 10 have said they have the same question so I thought I would update you that I added my nanny to my exchange server account (created an email for her) and I send all invites to that email address and they work.  So sending invites from an exchange server account to a non-exchange server account apparently is a bug so to solve it, get on an exchange server I guess.

use a supported web browser to go to iCloud.com. Click your name (top right) and set you Time Zone to the correct one.
    Hope this helps, Andrew

  • My iPhone calendar sets my appointments a hour earlier than my outlook

I added my work email (push) to my iphone last week and now when in automatically sincs with my work calendar in makes the appointments on my iPhone an hour earlier than the ones in my Outlook. Why?

I had the same problem and corrected it by going to the iPhone setting...under date and time set the time as automatic if you have the iPhone 3G. If you have the 1st generation iPhone, do the same but I think you also have to change for example to USA eastern time , if you are in the east coast. In other words, change it based on your geographical area and it should work fine...hope this helps!

  • ICal invitations saving 1 hour earlier than intended

My team and I have recently moved to MacBook Pros, all using iCal, all with iPads and iPhones. We are all experiencing the same issue - when we send a client or external person an invitation from iCal, it saves in the recipient's calendar one hour earlier than our invitation time. Please help! This is really making our client relationships difficult!

I am experiencing the same issue...also in AZ.  Did you ever find a solution?

Why does iCal on my MacBook Pro have a different lay out than on iCloud? I like the iCloud layout better, the only missing niceties is the year calendar. How do I get both iCals to look the same? The ideal iCal? The one from iCloud WITH the year calendar.

  • Why are all my contacts suddenly 2 hours earlier than they were entered.  I just noticed this today April 24

Why are all my entries on Icloud 2 hours earlier than they were previously entered.  I just noticed this today April 23?  They do not match what is on my Ipad or on my imac.  Looks like the clocks are not syncronised someplace.

Your post is fascinating because your post header says "today April 24" while your post body says "today April 23"   So maybe that is related...
Anyway, make sure all your iCloud devices have Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically = "On".
Also, in iCloud.com, open Calendar, go to Preferences (upper right) > Advanced > and check "Enable Time Zone Support".

  • The time on the weather widget on my home screen does not match the phone time.  Initially it did, but one day it started being 1 hour earlier than the phone time.  I went into Settings/Date

The time on the weather widget on my home screen does not match the phone time.  Initially it did, but one day it started being 1 hour earlier than the phone time.  I went into Settings/Date & Time & now the time on the weather widget is correct, but the phone time is 1 hour earlier.  Any suggestions??

Settings | Date and Time  then select Automatic date & time, and Automatic time zone. In this way, the carrier time will populate the phone. If it's still going 1hour off, then I'd call VZW and inquire if they have a tower issue, specially if it happens in one particular place.

  • Why does iCal automatically change the date of the entry i am making to the day before??

why does iCal automatically change the date of the entry i am making to the day before??
for example, when i am attempting to make a 'all-day' appointment on october 2nd 2011, it automatically shifts it to october 1st.
but if i am doing a timed appointment for only a few hours, it will allow me to put it on that day.
i am trying to put in travel dates so any help on how to fix this, would be greatly appreciated.

    alsdman,
Quit iCal, and try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Since that Library is now hidden, you have to use the Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart and check iCal for functionality.
Also go to System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region: and set/re-set the appropriate "Region."

  • Why does iCal keep telling me calendar can't be found?

Why does iCal keep telling me calendar can't be found? I have my ical calendar synced with my android 2.3.6. They appear to be communicating and then the next time I check they aren't. I just randomly keep getting the error. I would like to sync my Google calendar, iCal and Android 2.3.6 calendar. Thanks for any suggestions!

It is kind of hard to reconstruct what you did exactly and it may be that things have gotten pretty messed up -- it's easy to do that with OSX.  For starters, try running Disk Utility.  First, verify your hard drive with the repair feature (there are probably four buttons that do 4 different things).  If verify checks out okay, repair permissions.  Depending upon which ones are messed it it may cure some of them but not all.

  • Why does ical rearrange my events when i print?!   10.9

why does ical rearrange my events when i print?!
I'm on a macbook pro running the latest version of 10.9
Everything is organized the way I like it, but once I go to print, it rearranges the order of my events!
    How do I fix this?
    Thanks!

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and called apple support.  The solution is as follows:
Most apple users have multiple devices using icloud such as an iPdad, iPhone, and other computers.  In my case, I had two computers, two iPads, and one iPhone.   After speaking to apple support, I realized that one of my ipad's setting were set to delete events older then 2 weeks.   In short, if you are expeirienceing problems with ical deleteing events, you better check all your devices.  If just one of them is set wrong in your preferences, you will lose past events.   Even check computers you gave to your cildren or other members of the family.  You will probably find out that the settings on one of these machines is causing your problems.

  • TIME_MANAGER_INFO 1 hour earlier than SYSDATE?

When one of our processes fails and places the message back on the queue to be retried in 5 minutes time the TIME_MANAGER_INFO is 1 hour + the delay time less than SYSDATE in the database.
For example, if our message fails at 11am and the delay period is 5 minutes the TIME_MANAGER_INFO is being set to 10:05am when I would have thought it would be set to 11:05am. I'm guessing that wherever the Advanced Queue is getting its time from hasn't been adjusted for daylight savings but where is this set/managed so I can get it in sync with SYSDATE.
Where is the Advanced Queue getting its time from?

Just in case anyone else comes across this, we had a bug where the queue state was staying at 1 and was never being reset to 0 once it reached its delay time. In order to "fix" this until Oracle releases a patch that works we wrote our own procedure that would compare the TIME_MANAGER_INFO value with SYSDATE and if it was earlier than sysdate then we set the state to 0 so it would be picked up by the dequeue. Easy. Except that because of the timezone issue the TIME_MANAGER_INFO value was immediately set to 1 hour earlier than SYSDATE so we always set the state to 0 regardless of its delay period. So, we are looking at using the TIMEZONE value in the system.aq$_queue_tables to determine which timezone the queue is using and compare it to the databases timezone to see if we should change the TIME_MANAGER_INFO to something different. At least, that's what we'll probably do.
    select time_manager_info,
cast( from_tz( time_manager_info, (select timezone from system.aq$_queue_tables where name = 'MY_QUEUE$TAB')) at time zone (select sessiontimezone from dual) as date) t
    from MY_QUEUE$tab qt

  • HT1386 Why does my sync not complete?

Why does my sync not complete after step 4 of 4 when it says "waiting for changes to be applied"?
I have tried to sync four different iPhones including three 4S and one 5. It does not work for any of them but does not come up with any error message. There is enough room on all of the phone and I have only selected some song, albums, artists and playlists from my music to sync as to not go over the capacity.

Do they play OK in iTunes on the computer?
    How long to they play
Try a reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • HT204150 Why does iCal show incorrect age when displaying birthdays derived from Addressbook

Why does iCal display incorrect ages derived from AddressBook entered birthdays?

Hi PeterWCM, for what it's worth, the Apple help desk in Oz reckons we've uncovered a tech glitch in the software and that they replicated the described faults! But it only happens between specific dates (sometime in early Nov 1974, and runs through to today!)i.e; dates before Nov '74 aren't affected and some dates since!
We "trouble shooted" by inserting (made-up) dates in Addressbook and then watching when iCal updated. By a process of trila and error we nailed down the start of the problem to 2nd Nov '74!
Anyhow, they seemed to think there would be a "patch" issued in Jan...?
It MAY still be linked to timezone probs...not really sure!
Please let me know if you find a solution?
    Cheers!
