Why does IOS 7 enlarge pictures for the wallpaper and then disallow you to make them smaller to fit the screen?

Why does IOS 7 enlarge pictures for the wallpaper and then disallow you to make them smaller to fit the screen?

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I am sure I have read that the parallax effect in iOS 7 is the main reason behind wallpapers not being able to be shrunk. However, even disabling the effect will not allow you to resize the pictures like you could in previous versions of iOS, so as Skydiver119 said, it kind of is a glitch. If you are like me, and don't regularly change your wallpaper, then it may be worth creating a photoshop document which is slightly larger than your screen resolution(400px in each direction or so) and then placing your picture to suit, before copying it your device. Obviously, this would not be ideal if you were changing your wallpaper daily or very regularly as it would be a bit of a hassle having to do this every time you wanted to change your wallpaper.
Hope this Helps!

  • Does ipad2 have any warranty for the screen?

Does ipad2 come with any warranty for the screen?

No if it was dropped Apple will replace it for half the price of a new one. Which thats good but at the sametime you pay all this money for their product and they still charge you. They should at least exchange it for a new one the first time for free.. Accidents do happen!!! But its still good that they do replace for half the price.

Someone before you must have done it. Connect your iPod touch with your computer. In iTunes, under Devices, select your iPod touch, click Restore button and set up your device. Everything should get back to normal.

  • Why does it take so long for the iPhone to recognize when space has been freed up for photos?

    The short story:
I try to take a photo using the built in camera app. I get the dreaded 'no enough storage' message.
I then delete a bunch of photos, podcasts, etc. effectively freeing up plenty of space to take a photo.
Nope - iPhone Camera still things there is no space available.
After some unknown time delay - 10 minutes or more, in many cases, it will FINALLY let me take a photo.
The longer and more detailed story:
I know EVERYONE gets this message at one time or another and I know how to resolve it: "Cannot Take Photo - There is not enough available storage to take a photo. You can manage your storage in Settings."
Fine. I understand that. I'm out of space on my phone (not iCloud, as some users seem to confuse). It's a no brainer - you don't have enough space on your phone to take a new picture. Again - fine, I get that.
What I DON'T get, and what drives me absolutely NUTS, is that I will then go through my photos and delete a dozen or so that I don't really want, easily freeing up a good 20Mb or more, then when I try to take a photo again, I STILL GET THE out of space MESSAGE! Baloney. I am NO LONGER out of space. iPhone, you incredibly well designed and intelligent piece of hardware, why, for the love of all that is good, can't you figure out that I know have 20Mb free?
So, then I'll jump over to Podcasts, which I love, but take up lots of room on my phone. I'll delete a few of the large ones I've already listened to, easily freeing up a few HUNDRED MEGABYTES. We should be good to go, right? WRONG. The iPhone genius still tells me I don't even have enough space to eek out one lousy photo.
If I let my phone sit there long enough -- 10 minutes, 30 minutes, a few hours -- I haven't determined when the magic happens -- eventually the iPhone realizes that 'Hey, the user just deleted a bunch of junk and, wow, I'll be a son of a gun -- there IS enough space now to take a photo. iPhone -- happy!'
Thanks for nothing, iPhone. By this time, my daughter has stopped doing that amazing cute thing that I wanted to capture forever and quite possibly spawn the next generation of 'Charlie Bit Me' parodies. I freed up 500 Mb of prime photo snapping space 20 minutes ago. Thanks for finally realizing it. I realize you can only do like 170 quadrillion calculations a millisecond. I realize these things take time.
Can one of you iPhone engineers please, for goodness sake, please explain to me why this INFURIATING and seemingly unnecessary delay exists? I am no Windows fan boy but I can sure tell you that when I'm running low on hard drive space on my laptop and then delete 1GB of files, that 1GB INSTANTLY becomes available to me. I don't have to wait some interminable timeframe until it magically is usable.
One last thing that is puzzling -- so the native iPhone camera will refuse to let me take a photo because it things we're out of space (when we're not) but any third party photo app, like Camera+ or Camera Awesome, will happily snap pictures all day long. In fact, once I've taken them using one of these apps, I can then SAVE THEM TO THE CAMERA ROLL!
By the way -- when I started this well thought out rant, my iPhone said it was out of storage, and now, five minutes later -- you guessed it -- still out of storage, despite the fact that I deleted 10 photos and 4 podcasts.
    So. Incredibly. Infuriating.
For you iOS 7 users, please let me know if this issue has been resolved at all with iOS 7. I've held off upgrading because iOS 7 messed up a bunch of things with the camera, at least on my wife's iPhone 5. Focus no longer works reliably -- touch to focus and touch to expose no longer work well -- the quality of photos took a big hit. I won't update until these issues have been resolved.

Thanks @pdroth. I did a quick Google search of DB indexing. I'm not sure I found exactly what you were referring to but I see where you're going with it. I can understand that indexing my database of stored photos can be time consuming. It's frustrating that the space can't be recognized as being free more quickly.
I notice that some items I delete seem to free up the space much more quickly. Removing an app entirely or deleting from my Music generally shows up as available space in Usage pretty quickly.
Deleting a photo or video from the Camera Roll will take MUCH longer, so I guess that has something to do with the indexing process you are referring to.
I'd like to point out that when I run out of space on an SD card on any budget point and click digital camera that I can quickly delete a picture or two and INSTANTLY be able to take a couple of new photos in their place. I guess I just have that same expectation for the $500+ engineering marvel I have in my hand right now.
    Thanks for chiming in.

  • Why does my old iMac ask for the Admin password when deleting apps?

I just bought a new 2013 iMac. I'm giving the old 2009 iMac to a friend. I installed the old OS onto it, then I updated it to Mavericks. I saw there were some programs still on it that I used to have so I went to delete them. Every time I moved the app into the trash it asked me for a password (I registered the 2009 iMac under my friend's id.) Why is it doing this?

I'm giving the old 2009 iMac to a friend.
You need to wipe your iMac securely so that none of your personal stuff remains on the system.  Your friend then can update & upgrade as they see fit.  Your friend should also set up a new Apple ID & password for security reasons.
    Clicky click--—> Erasing disks securely
    ================
Start up from your install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable.

First shut down the text app and clear both

  • Why does it keep asking me for the login keychain password?

I am having a problem where my imac keeps asking me for a "login keychain" password. I type in my password every time, but that doesn't fix my problem. I need to know if this is bad or not, and how i can turn it off.
    Thanks!

    Hey there Daniel,
It sounds like you are being prompted over and over for your Login Keychain, and entering it does not seem to make the prompts stop. I would start by running First Aid on the Keychain with this article:
Mac OS X 10.6: Solving problems with keychains
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph7296
To check keychains for problems using Keychain First Aid:
Open Keychain Access, located in the Utilites folder in the Applications folder.
Choose Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid.
Enter your user name and password.
Select Verify and click Start. Any problems found will be displayed.
If there are problems, select Repair, and then click Start.
If that does not resolve the issue, I would next reset your Keychain:
In Keychain Access, choose Preferences from the Keychain Access menu.
If available, click the Reset My Default Keychain button. This will remove the login keychain and create a new one with the password provided.
If Reset My Default Keychain is not available, choose Keychain List from the Edit menu.
    Delete the "login" keychain.
The next time you log in to the account, you can save your current password in a keychain.
From: OS X: Keychain Access asks for keychain "login" after changing login           password

  • Why does my iMac now ask for my login and password when trying to drag anything to the trash?

    Hello,
I have the new iMac and am now having issues trying to delete anything off my desktop. It is telling me that Finder wants to make changes when I try to drag anything to the trash. I have to constantly resubmit my login and password and then the item just disappears, does not remain in the trash to be emptied later.
I am not sure what happened because it never acted like this. All of my software updates are current and I don't get why my Trash is no longer working as it used to.
    Any advice?
    Thanks!

    1. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/.Trash
    2. Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Show Info
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
    3. The dialog should show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section. If that's not what it shows, click the padlock icon in the lower right corner of the window and enter your password when prompted. Use the plus- and minus-sign buttons to give yourself Read & Write access and "everyone" No Access. Delete any other entries in the access list.
    4. In the General section, uncheck the box marked Locked if it's checked.
    5. From the action menu (gear icon) at the bottom of the dialog, select Apply to enclosed items and confirm.
    6. Close the Info window and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

  • Why does it take so long for the network in my house to come up???

I am having a hard time getting on to my home network (to shar files between computers!). It takes up to an hour to connect! Is there something in settings that I should change or is this normal. Please help!

  • Why does it take so long for the phone to turn back on after the battery dies?

Is apple going to do anything about the length of time it takes for the phone to turn back on after the battery drains?

Just a thought, but if the battery is not allowed to completely die then the amount of time it takes for the device to power back up is irrelevant.
Charge the device regularly and often.  One of the worst things for a Lithium Ion battery like that in an iPhone is completely discharging it.

  • Why does my compiled exe ask for the location of subvis when installed on another computer?

    Hello,
I have a piece of deployable software I have developed and so I have created two build specifications to produce an .exe file and an installer.
The build specification for the installer includes the compiled exe and all of the required SubVIs to reside in a sub directory in the install directory and when it installs on another computer the SubVIs are located in the correct place.
However, when I install and run it on another computer, a dialog box appears prompting for the location of the SubVIs, I select the one that it is asking for and it then loads the remaining VIs and runs as normal.
Is there something fundamentally I'm missing in the way SubVIs are called after using an installer, or is there a way to bundle them into the .exe/installer so that I don't receive the dialog box?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Sam

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes - but on my computer, I believe the exe is finding the files from the .exe build, rather than the installer location.
In fact, I just renamed the default build directory (where it places the installer / exe after the build and I get the same dialog - it is looking in C:\LabVIEW Builds\etc.
    rather than...
    C:\Program Files\My Software\subvidirectory
So maybe it is the problem you suggested Yamaeda? If so - is there a solution/workaround for this?

  • Ios7 doesn't actually let me scale down a picture for the screen on the ipad.

When I try to set the background for the lock screen and home screen it says to move and scale like it always has, but this time it doesn't work. It will let me move it and scale but then it  won't keep it that way. It reverts back to the original way it was. Is anyone else having this issue?

I have the same thing on my iPhone5.

  • HT2534 Why does my password change after it was set and then 10 min latter does not work

Can you conirm why my login to Itune now does not work with any od the store purchase, I want to BUY but it does not work
Do we have to have two password for the same email address Stor and Ituns?

The same password should work whether it's authorising the account on your computer's iTunes, signing in to view the account, or buying/re-downloading items from the store with it. What happens when you try to buy something ? Have you tried signing out (Store > Sign Out menu option) and signing back in and seeing if it then works ?
