Why does iOS prompt repeatedly ask for Apple ID password?

Dear Apple Support Community,
Device: iPad 4th Generation (64GB WiFi + Cell/LTE)
iOS Version: Latest version at time of publish - 6.1.3 (6.1.4 is iPhone specific)
SITUATION: I am prompted for Apple ID password every time I access App Store or iTunes. Typically, this should only be required to confirm purchase(s) or if password has "timed out" between purchases.
Additional Information: I suspect this is associated with Pre-ordered Movies and Music. This was experienced only after Pre-orders on all versions of iOS 5 and 6.
Thanks in advance for your help, guidance, and coaching a "Technoid."

Michael,
Thank you for proposing a solution. However, it appears my restrictions are "Off". Your thoughts appreciated.
David

  • Why Does Logic Pro Repeatedly Asks for Serial # and XSKey When Started?

I've purchased and installed an upgrade to Logic Studio 9. I previously used Logic Pro 7 but did not have it installed on my MacBook Pro when I installed Logic Studio 9.
The installer asked for the Logic Studio 9 serial number which I entered and then prompted for the original serial or XSKey. I dug out the Logic 7 XSKey, plugged it in and it was accepted so I could continue with the installation which completed successfully.
    So far so good.
But now Logic Pro 9 asks for the serial number and XSKey every time I run Logic which isn't what I expect. I re-enter the new serial number and then plug in the XSKey which is accepted and the software runs as expected, but I would prefer not to have to do this every time I start the application, in particular because I don't want to carry the XSKey around with me at all times.
Why isn't Logic 9 storing my serial number? Why does it ask for the serial # and XSKey every time I start the application?
I'm not running Logic as an admin user. Could this be preventing Logic from storing the serial information?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had this when upgrading from 7 to 8. What I did was plugin the xskey BEFORE I started the upgrade and it never asked for a key or serial again after that.

  • Why does my old iMac ask for the Admin password when deleting apps?

I just bought a new 2013 iMac. I'm giving the old 2009 iMac to a friend. I installed the old OS onto it, then I updated it to Mavericks. I saw there were some programs still on it that I used to have so I went to delete them. Every time I moved the app into the trash it asked me for a password (I registered the 2009 iMac under my friend's id.) Why is it doing this?

I'm giving the old 2009 iMac to a friend.
You need to wipe your iMac securely so that none of your personal stuff remains on the system.  Your friend then can update & upgrade as they see fit.  Your friend should also set up a new Apple ID & password for security reasons.
    Clicky click--—> Erasing disks securely
    ================
Start up from your install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable.

  • Why does 7.0.1 ask for previously saved passwords on last version?

I installed version 7.0.1 on a pc and I get asked to put in previously saved passwords (on last version)...is this right or am I getting hacked by an imitation Mozilla?

    Hi Edgardo,
    Thanks for your help !!
Yes, I know it is only I label file. I guess I was too anxious and wasn´t clear, sorry.
I mean the SM installation is asking for a label  DB2/UDB::RDBMS:DB2/UDB:.
Which means any version of DB2/UDB , ok ?
What I was saying is that I only have DB2 LUW medias. Exaclty the version DB2/LUW:V9, which is "DB2 v9.1.0.356".
What I dont understand is why doesn´t SM 7.0 cannot accept a higher version, as it is asking for DB2/UDB....
Otherwise I will have to download an older version of DB2, what I wouldn´t like to do, ok ?
    Thanks a lot !
    Enio.

  • Repeatedly asking for Apple ID Password with every app update iOS7

Since I updated to iOS7, I have to type in my password for every app update. I don't want to auto-update all the apps; I like an older FB app. How can I get my phone to remember my password like before in the app store?

I encountered this on my son's iPod Touch. I tried an 'Update All', but since he has one or two apps from his sister's Apple ID and she wasn't here to enter her password (which stopped the whole process!) I wanted to just update the other apps (purchased on my Apple ID). However, since there wasn't an option to skip an app, it seemed the only way to update the others (around 50 apps) was to click on all the update buttons individually. That would have been annoying enough, but fancy being asked to type in my password for every… single… app!
Absolute madness. Does Apple not think through these things anymore? They used to pay such careful attention to little details of the user experience. Very frustrating.

why does mac os keep asking for keychain password

I'm getting this same problem. It seems random when it asks for the password, maybe every 3 or 4 days it'll ask when I plug it in at night. I've tried restoring from an older backup, which has not resolved the issue.

The iCloud password isn't saved anywhere on your device, this is the way it's supposed to work.

  • Why does IOS 7 enlarge pictures for the wallpaper and then disallow you to make them smaller to fit the screen?

Why does IOS 7 enlarge pictures for the wallpaper and then disallow you to make them smaller to fit the screen?

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I am sure I have read that the parallax effect in iOS 7 is the main reason behind wallpapers not being able to be shrunk. However, even disabling the effect will not allow you to resize the pictures like you could in previous versions of iOS, so as Skydiver119 said, it kind of is a glitch. If you are like me, and don't regularly change your wallpaper, then it may be worth creating a photoshop document which is slightly larger than your screen resolution(400px in each direction or so) and then placing your picture to suit, before copying it your device. Obviously, this would not be ideal if you were changing your wallpaper daily or very regularly as it would be a bit of a hassle having to do this every time you wanted to change your wallpaper.
    Hope this Helps!

  • Why does the App Store asks for wrong password

    Hi,
I'm travelling a lot between the U.S. and Europe, which causes that I have 2 Apple IDs.
So there are some apps I purchased with my US-Apple-ID, and some apps I purchased with my second apple ID.
If I wanted to update my apps from both accounts it first asked my for the password of my 1st Apple ID, then the one of my second.
This worked fine the past two years.
Now it only asks me for one of them, but still wants to update all of my apps. Finally it says that this app has not been purchased before, but I can purchase it know by tapping "ok". (or something like this). I already bought it. why does it ask for the wrong password of the wrong apple id, I didn't purchase it with?
Here are the steps I already tried:
    1. restarting my device
    2. Sign off and sign back in with my ID I purchased it with. -> Then tapping "Update All" OR just "Update" at a specific app stills asks me for the password of the wrong ID. (I did this with the appstore app and the settings app->AppStore)
    3. sign in with the ID I purchased it with, then search for the specific app and hit "update" (where it usually says "buy", or "free" if not installed yet). It still asks me for the wrong apple id.
    4. I'm not syncing my apps with iTunes anymore, just music and my photos. I don't want to sync my apps because I would have to reinstall all my apps again and loose all of it's data.
    5. I still can buy new apps with both accounts and then it's still asking for the right ID, I want to purchase it with (the one I'm currently signed in).
    6. Deleting the app, then sign in with the right ID, search for the ID and redownload the new version worked, but in this case all my app data is lost.
    7. In App Purchases are NOT working, it asks for the right password, but then it's says that I have to buy the app again. ?!?
Do you have any idea, why this happend or why I'm unable to update my own apps?

There is a 15-minute window. After 15 minutes of inactivity, you will again be prompted for the password next time you try to purchase/download something.
