Why does IOS7 drain iPhone 4S battery

When I recently updated my iPhone to IOS7, it drains the battery a lot faster than it normally would. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Do you also own an iphone and an iPad?  I have struggled with all solutions to fast depleting battery on iphone 4s (and on the  ipad) since installing ios7. I sync via icloud to my ipad and noticed the problem stopped if I powered off the ipad for a day! ios7 must have set up some cycle that drained both devices. Now I have set the ipad to manual (not push) on icloud and diary sync and battery life is back to normal for a whole week  it can last 48 hours with light use- no longer have to keep shutting down all apps and turning off bluetooth and wifi to get through a day! Any one else found the same solution?

  • Why does IOS8 drain my iphone5 battery?

Does anyone know why IOS8 drains my iphone5 battery?  The battery life was not great before and now it has about half the life on it. I've also noticed that my phone's programs run slower (particularly iphoto and safari).  Has anyone else noticed this?  Is there a way to change this?  Is it possible to go back to IOS7 or is a new update coming out to fix this problem?

It's probably an app that's gotten stuck. First thing to do is to is the following procedure:
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
Now read this article and adjust your settings as advised: http://www.overthought.org/blog/2014/the-ultimate-guide-to-solving-ios-battery-d rain

  • Why does the light on my battery charger change from green to orange after a few seconds?

Why does the light on my battery charger cable change from green to orange?  The battery continues to accept a charge when light turns orange.

    Green = not charging.
    Orange = charging.
Note that if your laptop is pulling enough power (using CPU and GPU heavily) the light will turn green because the power adapter cannot provide enough power to charge your batteries in addition to keeping the system going.
In fact, you can drain your batteries even with the adapter plugged in with the 17 inch Macbook Pro if you push it hard enough, although I have not noticed this problem with my Retina Macbook Pro.

  • Why are there no iPhone 6 battery cases with a lightning input port for charging instead of a micro USB?

Why are there no iPhone 6 battery cases with a lightning input port for charging instead of a micro USB?
Does it have something to do with the MFI certification? Is micro USB just cheaper?
I don't want to have to carry around another cable and it seems like this would be a good product. What am I missing?

    Valid point.
So can I ask why there are no MFI certified lightning female ports on battery cases? Or more so, does this certification even exist?
    And why not?
This is a user-to-user technical support forum. There is no one here from Apple to answer "why". Again, I would recommend contacting the manufacturers or use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page for information on how to contact Apple directly.
I suspect that manufacturers may view the more standard microUSB charging port as a selling point. Those types of cables are cheaper and ubiquitous.

  • Why does my 3G iPhone no longer rings nor vibrates when receiving calls and text messages?

Why does my 3G iPhone no longer rings nor vibrates when receiving calls and text messages?
During a two weeks process, little by little I notice my phoe doesn't ring when I get a phone call.  So Far I have missed 22 calls that I am aware of.  Moreover, the phone does not alert me when I get a text message.  Sometimes I receive notice the next day that I received a call or a text message.

Follow the basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the user guide... reset, restore from backup, restore as new.

If you are not on your home LAN you are limited by the bandwidth of the site you are using. While the WiFi speed is 54 mbps, that is shared among all users on that access point, so you don't get all of it. In addition, you are limited by the speed of the link connecting you to the Internet backbone. For most commercial WiFi sites this is rather slow; a T1, for example, is 1.55 Mbps, and it is also shared. So doing the same calculation, and assuming you are the only one using that connection, it would take about 13 hours to sync 7 MB. In addition, to do that, your computer with your bookmarks, music, etc. would have to be configured as a server accessible from the Internet, so any of the world's millions of hackers would potentially have access to your computer.
The reason email can sync is that it is stored on your ISP's server, and the iPhone can retrieve it from there. Your bookmarks, notes, music and videos are NOT on your ISP's server, so you would have to make your own computer a server, get (and pay for) a fixed IP address (typically ~$100/month), and know enough about what you are doing to configure it.
If you are on your home LAN your WiFi speed is 54 Mbps (for 801.11G routers), but you require 2 way transfers; one from your computer to the LAN and one from the LAN to your iPhone. Ethernet protocol also adds overheard, so the effective speed of a wireless LAN is around 25% of the theoretical maximum bandwidth. Thus, your actual throughput is 25% of 54 Mbps, or 13.5 Mbps, and that is split in two by the need for your computer to upload while the iPhone is downloading, giving a total throughput of about 6 Mbps. Doing the same calculation again you get 20 minutes. But you are next to your computer anyway, so why not just plug it in and do it in 3 minutes?

  • Why does iOS7 and Mavericks have different icons for apps?

I love apple simple desige and intuitive approach.
BUT why does not Contacts, Calender etc have the same icons anymore between your operating systems?
This is not simple and it is not intuiative.....
    Alexander

The removal of all the skeuomorphic elements from iOS and OS X is only partially complete. Doubtless we'll see this change as updates come out, though whether Apple will go with the exact same icons in both iOS and OS X for any given app remains to be seen. You can express your opinion to Apple via their feedback page, if you wish:

  • Why does iOS5 drains battery more than iOS4?

Upgraded to iOS 5 a few weeks ago and iCloud about a week ago.  Something is draining my battery.  I charge it each and every night (goes on charger at 10pm or earlier).  At 5:30 I'm up and disconnect before leaving home around 7:15am.  Prior to iOS 5, when iOS 4 was on the phone, I could get a couple of days use if need be (not off completely, but screen off).
Today same routine, but the battery indicator was in the red at 4 pm.  Before iOS 4 without iCloud, no problem; but now it'll need a charge part way through the day. Is it iCloud and/or iOS 5?  What is going on?
If iOS 5 is the culprit, can we reinstall iOS 4?  If not, then iCloud needs to be removed.
    Any help would certainly appreciated.

I have this habit of closing opened applications immeditaely because our internet provider in the Philippines is not really great. So id there are too many applications opened, it tends to slow down everything. So i have also addressed that issue about multiple applications running.
Yesterday for example, it was fully charged at 12:00 noon. I started using my ipad while i was in a nail salon. I only opened my readers digest e- magazine to read. I noticed after an hour of reading it, i noticed that battery was only 27%  left and ipad became very warm.
I noticed that everytime i use my ipad, when it gets warm, the battery gets depleted very fast.

  • Why does my MB Pro's battery drain so fast when using Numbers?

    Hello community!
I have this problem since I updated my MB Pro to Mountain Lion. Everytime I start using Numbers (latest version), the fan of my Laptop goes on and the running time of my battery drops to 1 1/2 hours. My MacBook also gets really warm. Everything seems that Numbers is not running really efficiently on my Laptop. That makes it hard to follow an entire lecture and it's really annoying for me and my classmates; because of this issue I currently use Excel instead.
    I have a MacBook Pro late 2012 with the 2.7 GHz i7, 4 GB Ram and OS X 10.8.2.
I don't experience those problems when I'm using pages or keynote.
Does anyone have the same problem? Are there any suggestions?

This issue was first noted here around the beginning of August, 2012. See this thread, but don't take the reply marked "solved" too seriously—it turned out to be premature.
Briefly, the issue is that Numbers consumes about 70% of available CPU time/activity whenever the mouse pointer is on a table. That CPU usage consumes power, creates heat, and activates the fans.
No solution as yet. A summary of suggestions:
File a bug report (Numbers menu > Provide Numbers Feedback)
If you're near an Apple Store, take the MBP to the Genius Bar and demonstrate the issue using your machine (or any 2012 MBP with Numbers installed).
Move the mouse pointer off any table whenever possible.
Check the thread for any I've missed.
    Regards,
    Barry
