Why does iphone not always pick up signal in new city?

I just flew to Vegas, Phoenix and Atlanta. Each time, iphone did not acquire signal on landing for minutes (at least), but immediately picked it up when I powered down and powered back on. What is the technical reason for this, and why does turning the phone off and on help to re-establish connection? I realize this issue is not unique to iphones, but I've never understood why it happens.

Whether or not GSM signals from any cellular phone will cause a plan to crash is not the point. The point is the FAA requires devices that have not been certified by the FAA not radiate in any radio frequency. Airplane mode was designed to comply with those rules and regulations. I don't have confirmation, but comparing my battery life on a trip this last week to my mothers to back in late July the iPhone seemed to have better battery life in a No Service area. I personally suspect that after being in a No Service area for a while the iPhone will stop searching as frequently. When you power off the iPhone or put it in Airplane mode for a few minutes and then come out of Airplane mode the iPhone will search for signal.
There is a limited waiver in place for WiFi for some airlines that are experimenting with offering WiFi, but that does not extend to the GSM frequencies.

Does anyone know why iPhone will not update from PC using latest iTunes?

Thank you so much for your reply.I solved the problem after fretting over it for some time. A filter was not turned off and once I turned it off all was well. Live and learn.

Why does iphone not show up in itunes

After i connect my iphone to the computer the iphone-sign does not show in the itunes programme.
The iphoto pops up, so it recognizes the iphone, but in itunes nothing happens.
This means i connot syncronize my iphone.
I tryed to restart imac and phone, nothing....
Anyone had this problem an now's what to do??

Why does Spaces not always show apps in the designated space?

I have 2 spaces defined. Space 1 is for xcode. Space 2 is for Interface Builder. When in space 1 and using xcode I open a xib file. It opens in space 2 with Interface Builder, just like it should. However when I open another xib file from space 1 it displays in space 1 and not in space 2.
Before a clean instal of SL it always opened in the correct space.
Is this a bug or is there a magic setting somewhere?
Also how do you manually move views to other spaces?

What happens if you open the xib from IB via space 2 thereafter? Does that xib behave the same each time it is re-opened?
Have you emptied Xcode's caches specifically during your tests?

Why does iphone not light up when connected to power ?

The power lock button on my iphone 5 is broken. I turned it off using assist feature. Now when I connect the phone through cable to the wall charger, it does not light up. I know the battery was about 70% when I turned it off. Any clues ?

Why does Sync not always load, or for that matter, the personal addons page?

For all of the betas, including Minefield, every so often Firefox features do not seem to load. The Add-ons Manager will stay "blank", despite the columns loading, just nothing inside. And thus I am said when this happens. Any ideas?

Please try the following troubleshooting steps.
Check for a firmware update for your router.
Make sure the router is broadcasting the Service Set Identifier < SSID >.
Please try other device/s. Connect them to your network (wired/wireless) then test those units.

I think you are confused. Syncing apps and music to your phone will not get store in the cloud by adding more cloud storage. If you don't have enough space to sync the music and apps, buying cloud storage won't help. If you have a 16GB phone, the phone still only has 16GB for apps and music even if you buy 10 mor GB of cloud storage.

Thanks for the question. If you haven't already done so, you may want to update iTunes to v11.1 (released on Sept 18th). After updating iTunes, you can then update your iPhone 5 to iOS 7.

When you view an App in the App Store or iTunes Store, the listing will show what iOS versions are supported by the app.

Thanks for the zip code pfekete. I looked into the coverage in your area and I do see you are in an extended 1X data coverage which explains why you're not connecting to 3G. What phone do you have? i just purchased a file that had videos in it. i put them in the itunes library on my pc where i first downloaded them. i was able to transfer them to my other pc, a laptop, through my home network. i am now trying to get them on my mac pro desktop and my ipad2. my mac pro can see the other computers on my home network but i cannot get it to connect to them. i know the operating systems are different but was hoping i could transfer pictures and files from pc to mac this way. haven't been able to get it to work yet. the videos i am trying to get my mac to see came in a folder with both mac and pc versions. i thought if i got the videos i purchased into itunes that i would then be able to get them to my mac pro and my ipad2. i am new to mac/apple and have always been pc-centric so trying to marry it all has been difficult. i speak pc pretty well but am just learning apple. am i trying to do things that are not possible? i sure could use a knowledgable friendly soul to walk me through my issues of having pc and mac on the same network. i have been able to get all computers and ipad to print on my network. thanks.
