Why does it keep spitting out my disk?

I just got a new MacBook Pro and I'm trying to install Office Mac. I put the disk in, it takes it, and a second later, spits it out. What's the deal? Do you have to do something before you insert a disk?

No, you don't need to do anything before inserting a disk.
Open 'Console' in the utilities folder of application and look at the log messages. That should give you some clues.
It might be a bad disk - try and see if another machine will mount it. If it spits out other disks, the drive could be bad.
Try resetting your SMC controller and PRAM (google this) to see if it solves things. This solved a drive issue I once had with a new MBP.
If none of the above helps, consider taking it back to the store or phone applecare (you have free telephone support and I guess they'll go through steps similar to above).

Accepts discs but they don't mount or are automatically ejected
Make sure the drive is not placed upside down. The aluminum enclosure should be facing up as shown in section 1.
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
Connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port instead a USB hub.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. The System Profiler or System Information may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
OS X Snow Leopard v10.6 or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click More Info.
OS X Lion v10.7 and later: Click the Apple () menu and then hold down the Option key. Choose System Information from the menu.
If the disc continues to not be recognized, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.

Are you publishing to adobe business catalyst, or using the Muse FTP upload to another host, or some other software to upload?

We normally can only get up to around 80% to 85% of those numbers or say 170 pages. Roughly 4 x 6 = 1/4 A4 sheet that measn we can print 170 x 4 = 680 pages 5% coverage or 34 to 50 of 4 x 6 with 100% coverage.

You usually go all the way into the Burn process until it says "Insert a blank DVD now", THEN put in the DVD.
If you put the DVD in early, Mac OS X looks at it, decides it is blank and therefore useless, and spits it out.

Sounds like the optical drive may be on it's way out. It should be possible to connect the Mac to one of the others by firewire and do the installation by booting from the install disc in the donor Mac, then choosing the remote HD as the target when prompted.

You'll find that the none of the files are stored in .cda files. These are simple shortcuts to files on the CD-ROM. These files do not actually contain in audio information.
If they work ok in your Windows computer why don't you convert the data to a more transportable format such as MP3 and get them onto your Mac that way.

It is kind of hard to reconstruct what you did exactly and it may be that things have gotten pretty messed up -- it's easy to do that with OSX. For starters, try running Disk Utility. First, verify your hard drive with the repair feature (there are probably four buttons that do 4 different things). If verify checks out okay, repair permissions. Depending upon which ones are messed it it may cure some of them but not all.

HP Photosmart C8180 Printer! WHY does this keep happening every day??

I have only had this for 3 months and it already has problems.
It keeps telling me its out of paper when it is not.
i always have at least 20 sheets in there!
You can hear the rollers going but it can't pick up the paper and I only use high quality A4 paper in there.
i then have to pull the tray out and push it back in, and yes i have the paper inserted in there correctly
also, sometimes when i get this "out of paper" message, i ignore it and just press OK and it works fine
why does this keep happening?
this is disgusting coming from a Quality brand like HP

A printer is an item meant to print.
It is generally helpful if a printer recognizes such out-of-the-ordinary, eccentric, unheard-of media such as...oh, I dunno, 8.5 x 11-inch PAPER?????
It claims repeatedly to have run out of paper. No paper. No paper. Insert paper into paper tray. Now, granted, the minimalist quality of the paper tray--it holds 20 pages, roughly--might convince you that I had indeed used up all my paper; this is not the case. 18 of the 20 sheets are still there. So I readjust that paper, close the tray. It starts to pull in a piece of paper, and then there is the giant crunchy noise of a paper jam in progress. And forget about “easy access” for removing them, either.
In the months I have had this printer, I don’t believe it has EVER allowed me to print five pages consecutively without some sort of problem. To me, this is known as an EPIC FAIL.

So how is the printer set up? Is it wireless or USB? If USB you will need a cable, purchased seperately. It is a standard A/B USB cable widely available inexpensively. (The $1 cables form the dollar store work fine....

You need to sign in when using Photoshop Elements 12 as it is the method of activation. If you sign out it deactivates that installation.
