Why does it look really bad quality when i plug my 13in macbook pro to my 42in samsung tv?

i bought this rocketfish hdmi cable to plug my 13in mac pro to my samsung plasma tv so i can watch netflix and youtube..and for some reason the picture quality is really bad. everyone says it looks great in theirs but why not mine? i put it at the highest resolution which is 1080i. Can i get any help??

it should be 1080p unless your's is only i
netflix and youtube need to have the best picture turned on for it to look good. Some are in 1080p but other only max out at 240p.
if you are in mirror mode, you are unable to change the screen size to the tv independently of the mbp.
What you should try to do is see if you have mirror mode turned on in system preferences> display>arrangement.

  • Why does caps lock light remains on when I turn off my macbook pro?

I had a problem recently come up with my MacBook Pro Early 2011 15 inch 2.0 ghz computer. The the caps lock light initiates at boot up. When I depress caps lock the light goes off but then only allows capital letters.  All sybols associtated with depressing the cap button such as the "at" sign are screwed up.  When I turn my computer off with safe mag attached, the caps light remains on. When I remove the safe mag, the caps light goes off.  Any clues as to what is going on?
Thank you for your inputs ahead of time.

  • HT1320 why does my iPod classic freeze up when i plug it in to my computer

why does my iPod classic freeze up when i plug it in to my computer

It's not a "fix," actually.  If that is a 4th gen iPod connected using USB, you need to do what it says and plug it in to the white square power adapter that originally came with those models.  Later Apple power adapters should work; third-party adapters may or may not work.  It has something to do with voltage.  The USB connection to computer does not provide the required voltage (although it's obviously fine for normal syncing and charging).
If that iPod is connected to a FireWire port, it apparently provides the required voltage, because that step does not come up during the Restore.  That model was a transition between iPod connecting to FireWire and connecting to USB.  Earlier models required FireWire.  Later models only used USB.
If you don't have an adapter, and there is an Apple Store nearby, I guess you could take it to the store's Genius Bar.  I'm sure they have a power adapter there, to complete the Restore.  (Just don't let them re-do the Restore on a Mac, if you use a Windows PC. Different storage formatting.)

  • Why does my internal speakers come on when i plug in my headphones?

Why does my speakers only work?when i try to listen to music thru my headphoes it doesnt work, and my headphones are perfectly fine because i tested them out on other ipods.... and i even tried to push in the headphone flush but that doesnt work either. what do i do?!!??

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Rest. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem that points to a hardware problem. Likely a bad headphone jack. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm

  • Why does Firefox no longer scale its size correctly with my new Macbook Pro?

hey folks, experiencing a weird issue and I'm not sure how to resolve it.
I've been using Firefox as my default browser for about a year, love it. I had been using a late 2011 Macbook Pro, sometimes just as a laptop, sometimes attached to a 4 year old external monitor. No issues.
A few weeks ago I switched to a new Macbook Pro with the retina display. When I use the laptop with my external monitor, the sizing of the app is all wrong. It's like super zoomed out. Web pages and text like the menus, bookmarks, etc..are so small I can't read them. When I use the laptop just as a laptop, sometimes Firefox looks ok, and sometimes it's showing this rendering problem.
I tried launching Firefox in safe mode without my plethora of add ons, no change in behavior.
I'm running what I think is the latest version of Firefox for the Mac, v 34.0.5. As an example, I could not read the version number, it was too tiny. I could see where it was so copied it and pasted it in here. And, I'm running the latest version of Yosemite, 10.10.1.
I'd love to get Firefox working again, does anyone have any suggestions. Right now I've had to go back to Safari as my default browser, which is ok but I do prefer Firefox.
One additional note: I'm not seeing this behavior with any other app. Everything else looks appropriately sized. The issue is only with Firefox. I appreciate any ideas any of y'all might have, thank you.

One more thing: even though Firefox said it was up to date, it appeared the latest version was 35.0. So, I downloaded and installed that, thinking maybe a fresh install would remedy this problem. No joy, still looks the same.
    Bummer.
I'm attaching a screenshot of how the browser looks, for reference.

  • Why does installation cd not work for new hard drive for 2009 MacBook pro?

my hard drive died in my 2009 MacBook pro so I bought a 1tb ssd drive and had the store physically install the drive only.   I arrived home and stuck in the original installation disc and pressed and held the c key after the chime. Nothing happened. after a minute or so the screen turned black and rebooted up again with the chime.  It would continue to reboot whether I pressed the c key or not. when i pressed the d key it would say:
"Apple hardware test does not support this machine"
why why isn't this working like it is supposed to?
    thsnks

    Ryan,
Have you tried using the Startup Manager (holding down the option key) whilst booting? If everything works as it should, you should be given the option to choose the DVD to boot. Holding down the 'D' key should load the Apple Hardware Test.
    Good luck,

  • Why does it take SO long to synchronize my iphone with my macbook pro

    Hi fellow users,
It takes unbelievable long for my iPhone 4S to synchronise with my MacBook Pro. Happens everytime.
I started the synch early yesterday evening (19:00). It is now 10:35 the following day and it is still not finished.
    Has anyone any ideas?
Have a great day Desmond, a Brit living in Germany.

I have this aggravating issue as well, only I just have an iPhone 4s 16GB (yes, STILL!).  One of the (many) reasons I haven't upgraded is the deteriorating performance factors induced by Apple.  If it takes forever to sync just a 16GB iPhone, syncing a 64GB or 128GB iPhone must be an all day test of aggravation!  Since I'm finding no credible or relevant answers here I thought I'd post my observations.  When I watch the sync process, I can see that the procedure backs up my iPhone data, removes it from the phone, then reinstalls it again with any updates to the data since the last sync.  This is a programming "feature".  I don't know what the reasons are for not designing the sync process to handle only changed data as in any other data backup process.  Maybe it's laziness at Apple, maybe it's a technical issue that their programmers are incapable of solving, or maybe there's a monitoring aspect involved that this method allows Apple to collect information on users more effectively.  I just don't know their reasons for this, or many baffling things they do.  I do know that if their corporate data backups were performed in the same manner in which the iPhone sync is performed, there would never be a break in the backup processes at Apple, nor would the process ever complete.  It's ludicrous to program the SW (iTunes) run this inefficiently.  I can't fathom having a larger capacity iPhone and dealing with the constant aggravation of what must be hours to sync simple data changes caused only by the poor routine programmed into iTunes.  From what I can see, it's basically like loading a blank phone every time I want to sync data.  Completely ridiculous as far as I can tell.  Even if the reasoning is to remove dead sectors, blank sectors etc, I'd think with all the money Apple has and makes on a quarterly basis, they could afford to spend the time and money in R&D to make the sync process a **** of lot more tolerable for users.

  • Why does it take an hour to download 140 mb on a macbook pro?

I recently purchased the macbook pro with retina and now when I try to download files from the internet it takes 40+ plus minutes. I'm downloading small, less than 140 mb files. On my old macbook from 2008 it would take a few minutes. I did not pay 4,000 dollars to downgrade what is going on

How are you connected to the internet?  Check with your isp to determine if the slowness is on their end and you can also check your speed on the Speedtest website.

Then you are still under warranty.
    Call Apple Care.
#1 - You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return your computer with no questions asked.
#2 - You have 90 days of FREE phone tech support.
#3 - If you've purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan, your warranty last for 3 years.   You can obtain AppleCare anytime up to the first year of the purchase of your computer.
Take FULL advantage of your warranty.  Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired.

  • USB message when IPhone plugged in to MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro running Lion. When I plug in my IPhone 5 a message appears saying one of the USBs is overloading the system and it needs to power down. I've checked all connections.
I'm running a Cinema screen from the laptop and two printers, one wirelessly and the other by USB cable from the laptop.Ive got a keyboard and mouse running from the back of the Cinema screen. The Iphonevdcable also runs from the back of the screen.
    What to do?

Universal Serial Bus ports have a power limit of 500 milliamps. Although USB ports are useful for transferring data and using various peripheral devices, if any USB device attempts to draw more than the allotted 500-milliamp limit, the port will register a power surge. USB power surges may disable the USB port for further use, and can cause permanent damage to your motherboard.
    http://www.ehow.com/how_6907230_fix-usb-power-surge.html#ixzz2ZMycxqTO
You need to remove every USB connected device before you do permanant damage to your computer if you have not already. I would shut it down and have it checked out by Apple before further usage.

  • Why does Firefox force 8bit color quality when it starts and distort some elements of my screen?

Have no problem with other programs when I set color quality to 32bit. But when I start Firefox the screen looks like a low res screen. If I go look at the color quality in settings it will be at 8bit and changing it appears to fix things. Until I close Firefox and restart it then I am back to 8bit and poor looking graphics and even the windows start button will be messed up as well as the windows icon on the start button

Right-click on the shortcut that you use to start Firefox and select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab and de-select all of the settings.
If none of the settings are selected, repeat the above process, but this time using Windows Explorer right-click on the firefox.exe file, default location is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe

  • Why does the volume maximize by default when I plug in my headphones?

Every time I plug in my headphones, if I don't check first and lower the volume, the sound is automatically maximized all the way up and blares through my headphones.  Is there a setting or something to get my iPhone to stop doing this?  This has got to be the stupidest feature.

The volume is suppposed to return to the last volume setting you had when you last used your headphones, not maximum unless that's where you left the volume (this is not a "stupid feature", it is some sort of corruption).  It does not matter if it is headphones or an aux connection, the iPhone should remember the last volume setting for whatever was last plugged into the headphone jack, it can't tell the difference.
Before you run off to an Apple store, try the usual fixes first:
    - Power OFF/ON, or
    - Reset (press and hold Home and Sleep/Wake until you see Apple logo, then release), or
    - Restore (connect to iTunes, initiate a backup, then click Restore button)  At the end, re-load your last backup and all your media.

  • Why does my DVI to S Video adapter not work on my Macbook Pro since installing Snow Leopard?

.wpl appears to be a Windows Media Player playlist. I can find no conversion software for that, and Windows Media Player is not available for Mac anymore.
If you can persuade him to download iTunes and create the playlist as mp3 in a iTunes playlist, or even just burn the base mp3 files to CD as a data disc, that's about the only solutions I can suggest.

  • Why does iMessage continue to make sounds and display banners on my Macbook Pro (Retina) even though I have removed it from my notification center?

I hate that my messages pop up while I'm watching Netflix, and I have finally removed Messages from my notification center. Yet, for some reason i still keep hearing the noise that lets me know I have a message, and I a still seeing badges pop up on my screen every time a new message comes in? What's the deal?

I talked to Apple Support and we at least stopped the bleeding, a little bit. These are the troubleshooting steps I did before I contacted Apple Support:
    1. Reinstalled OSX
    2. Restore the last known good Time Machine Backup.
This did not fix my issue, so I called Apple Support and they told me this:
    1. Turn Power off.
    2. Wait 15 seconds.
    3. Plug in Magsafe adapter.
    4. Wait 15 seconds.
    5. Hold down the Shift+Option+Power Button for 20-30 seconds.
    6. Turn Power back on.
Ok, this stopped the bleeding a little, but as soon as I plugged in a Apple USB Superdrive
and a Apple Mini Displayport to VGA Adapter. This "USB Devices Disabled" pop-up pops up like every 30 minutes now. At least, it is not constantly popping up after I close it, so I guess it will do for the temporary. Going to contact Apple support, later, though to see what else can be done.
