Why does it say my iphone is linked to another library when trying to add ringtones

why does it say my phone is synced to another library, if I want to proceed with syncing music it asks to erase contents and sync with current info.  How do I know all my contacts on my phone are saved if it wants to erase info?

Apple's intention is that you manage an iPhone from a single library. If you connect to a different library iTunes wants to wipe everthing out and start over.

When receiving an email, why does it say 'More. . .' in the To email address line when there is only one email address? It looks like there is more than one recipient when there is actually just one.

Have you rebooted since the deletions.  That will empty a number of caches and may restore the freed up space. Also open the iPhoto Library package with the Finder as shown in this screenshot
locate the iPod Photo Cache folder and delete its contents.  Make no other changes to the contents of the iPHoto LIbrary Package.

That's not a shortcut you are creating with "save as", you are saving a copy of the webpage to your desktop - hence the folder with files for that webpage.

  • Why does it say we've had difficulty verifying your purchase when I'm trying to buy something

How come when I try to buy an add-on to an app, it pops up with an error that says we've had difficulty verifying your purchase...  Help

Actually the correct translation is "....We cannot process transactions at this time......" as if the problem is not specific to me. But since none of my friends are having this problem and since no one has written a word on twitter about this during the last couple of hours i would say it probably is specific to me.

  • Why does iTunes say it is not connected to the internet when the connection is active?

No problems running iTunes on Windows XP machine with Norton Internet Security.
Moved to new computer with Windows 7 - still running Norton Internet Security.  iTunes does not start when iPhone4 is connected with USB cable.  Worse problem is that all internet activity (check for updates, activate this computer, etc.) is halted with message that computer is not connected to the internet... but it is.  All browser and email activity works right.
Do I have a Windows 7 setting problem, a Norton Internet Security setting problem, an iTunes setting problem?
    Thanks in advance.

For the device connectivey issues try Andrei Cerbu's post here or see TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows, in particular section 5, forcing a driver update.
I suspect Norton's firewall is blocking iTunes. I can't tell you offhand where to look to tweak things.

  • Why does my brand new iphone 5 get pink pixels sometimes when i take a photo?

i have had my iphone 5 for about two weeks now. i have only used the camera a handful of times; twice now when ive took a photo, purple pixel lines cover the screen. Is this just a software problem, or is my iphone faulty??

Probably a hardware fault. Book an appointment at the Genuis bar and go from there, you should get the phone swapped over.

  • Why does coconutBattery say that my Mac is already 7 months when in a fact I bought this 13" MacBook Air just last August 4?  This is somewhat disappointing.

Read about coconutBattery from various blogs and forums.  I downloaded it and, lo and behold, read on the details that "Age of your Mac: 7 Months"!!!.  This is just 3 weeks old since I bought it, and just almost a month old since the new MBA refresh was released by Apple!  Did I get suckered by the 'Premium Reseller' or by Apple, or is coconutBattery not reliable? Disappointing!

The age you currently get from this tool is wrong, maybe it will be fixed in a later version.
You can determine the age of your MBA by having a look at the serial number. The fourth letter tells you the build year. The letter 'F' means first half of 2011, the letter 'G' stands for the second half of 2011. The fifth number or letter gives information about the week within this six months. Mine has a 'G' and a '6' meaning 6th week in the second half of 2011.
To find out how to get the serial number have a look at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1941.

  • Why does my iMac now ask for my login and password when trying to drag anything to the trash?

    Hello,
I have the new iMac and am now having issues trying to delete anything off my desktop. It is telling me that Finder wants to make changes when I try to drag anything to the trash. I have to constantly resubmit my login and password and then the item just disappears, does not remain in the trash to be emptied later.
I am not sure what happened because it never acted like this. All of my software updates are current and I don't get why my Trash is no longer working as it used to.
    Any advice?
    Thanks!

    1. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/.Trash
    2. Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Show Info
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
    3. The dialog should show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section. If that's not what it shows, click the padlock icon in the lower right corner of the window and enter your password when prompted. Use the plus- and minus-sign buttons to give yourself Read & Write access and "everyone" No Access. Delete any other entries in the access list.
    4. In the General section, uncheck the box marked Locked if it's checked.
    5. From the action menu (gear icon) at the bottom of the dialog, select Apply to enclosed items and confirm.
    6. Close the Info window and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

  • Why does my I Tunes play only some of my library when it can't access the external hard drive from which I imported some of the music? My esternal hard drive has been corrupted, but I    thought I Tunes would have "saved" songs I dragged to it.

Some of my ITunes library came from CDs, some from an external hard drive with songs  in it.  My external hard drive went bad, which I wouln't have thought would have affected my Itunes library or the songs I had previously imported to it from the external drive.  But now the Itunes cannot locate many of those songs. Is there some process of importing/saving that is different when you import from CD? Hope someone can help.....MN

    Hi MNinPungo,
When adding music to iTunes from another location (for example, an external hard drive), iTunes can either make a local copy of the file in the iTunes Library or create a pointer to the original file in the original location, depending on the preferences you have set. You may find the following article helpful:
    Add to Library
So you can access content quickly, iTunes indexes all music, audio book, and video files that you add to iTunes. This index is called the iTunes library. When you add content to the library, iTunes adds an entry for each audio or movie file to your index. The files could be in your Home folder, somewhere else on your hard drive, on an external hard disk, or on another computer that you're accessing through file sharing.
To add files to your iTunes library, you can use these options:
Drag files from the Finder to the appropriate icon on the left side of the iTunes window.
Choose File > Add to Library (on Windows, choose Add File to Library or Add Folder to Library) and select the song or folder that you want to add.
iTunes adds entries to your iTunes library for the selected files and copies the files to your iTunes Music folder (if you selected that option in the Advanced pane of iTunes preferences).

  • "The iPhone is Synced with another library. Do you want to erase..."

My itunes library has a lot of music from my iPad. I want to move that music to my iPhone by managing my music "manually", but it says ""The iPhone is Synced with another library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?"
I read that I have to back it up, then go ahead and erase the phone, then you can add the music from the library to your phone. Is this true? Will it work?
I have backed up the phone to iCloud, but I'm worried still. How can I be SURE that I'll get everything back when I restore the phone after erasing it?
    Thanks!

I'm afraid the LU suffix is a new one on me.
As long as you have all of the content in your library then that remove and sync warning shouldn't cause any loss of data, but it shouldn't be happening every time. It may pay to take the following steps to reset the connection between the two,
    Backup device.
    Restore as a new device.
    Restore the backup made earlier.
Again, this assumes all content on the device is in your library. If that isn't the case see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device first.
