Why Does IT Take SOOOOO Long To Get New Shows And Podcast Updates!!!!! It seems to me that it takes and unusually long time for TV shows to be uploaded to itunes and it takes FOREVER (VH1) to get Podcast updates. Also I notice that Vh1's Best Week Ever is a hit or miss deal. Some weeks it's on iTunes and some weeks it's not......why?

The iTunes store simply provides a link to the originating podcast server.
When the podcast owner puts a new episode up, it is available.

Does anyone know why it takes hours and hours to just sync and backup my 16GB iPhone 3GS before it installs the iOS5? This is getting rediculous! Why do Apple force us to use iTunes?

Shouldn't take that long although waiting a long time in between syncs can create longer backup times... ie more data, apps, etc... to back up etc... Make sure both iPad and iTunes are most current versions. Make sure you are using the iPad sync cord that came with the device and not another from a iPhone or iPod. Cables can screw up the deal.

Why does it take hours to import mp4 files into iMovie

I have some home movies I imported from VHS-C and compressed to mp4 files and now I want to start going through them in iMovie but it takes hours just to import a single clip (~575 meg).
What can I do to speed this up? Would getting a Mac Pro with loads of RAM and CPU's help? Would converting to a different video format before I import work?
Right now I have all this video I converted to digital and thus far spent days just importing and haven't been able to do anything with it yet!
I'm using an iMac core duo with 2 gig RAM and the upgraded video card (best one they had at the time).
Any help is appreciated!

This worked fine for me, was exactly what I wanted.
1 - Create the project in iMovie HD and then save and close.
2 - Locate the file on your computer. Ctrl-click on the file and it will say "show package contents". Click on that.
3 - You will then see some folder items inside that. Open up "Media" and then drag and drop your mpeg file into it.
4 - When you reopen the project, you will be notified that there are files in your trash. You want to view them to find the file you just moved there.
5 - Take that file and drag it back onto the project and you're in.

Why does it take hours to backup my iPad?

Why is it that when I try to back up my iPad the backup starts alright but after a short while it seems to grind to a halt. I have made it a habit to monitor the affected folder on my MacBook Pro and it is pretty clear that, although the backup indicator in iTunes keeps on spinning, the backup files remain unaffected after the halt. My present attempt, for example, has now been going on for two hours and 45 minutes without any indication of it coming to an end.
My solution to this slight inconvenience is to delete the backup file from within iTunes and create a completely new backup. This, however doable, is not too convenient because it takes some extra time to do this.
So what am I to do about this. Should I just patiently sit tight and hope for the backup to complete (hoping it will) at some undetermined future point in time? Or is there any other way of coming to grips with this?

Why does it take hours to download a rented movie from iTunes.

When I rent a movie or TV show from iTunes with my AppleTV (2), the download starts and I get a message saying the download will take an an hour and 45 minutes to download. Then when the download it complete and I start to play it, I get a message saying downloading - and the rental never starts.
My AppleTV (2) it running the latest version, and it's plugged directly into my router via ethernet. I have reset the Apple TV, router and modem.
Netflix and YouTube streaming through AppleTV are immediate and seem to work fine.

What is your actual internet speed? use www.speedtest.net and post the results.

Using Netflix or Youtuve is not a good test as Youtube is must lower quality than HD rentals, and Netflix uses a variable quality download system that reduces quality based on your internet speed.

Recently I rented a movie on Apple TV, but it took ~5 hours to download it to my chagrin. Is that normal? Later, I down loaded my second movie rental (3-hours), watched a portion,came back to resume viewing, and had to slowly down load it a second time. Wha' hoppened?

Why does it take hours to empty the trash on my Mac?

My harddisks are getting full and it lasts hours to move files into the trash (I guess that this is done sequentially). So first I asked the system to empty the trash securely. And in the trash were 3 big files (.mov movies with 7GB each).
The activity monitor shows that the CPU is working full speed (2008 MacMini with Core 2 Duo Processor.
What happens? What can I do to speed up things?

Select Apple menu > Force Quit... from the menu bar, then select Finder and press return. From the Finder menu bar, select Finder > Preferences > Advanced and uncheck the box labeled "Empty Trash securely." Try again to empty the Trash. If you still have problems, read this support article:

Using mountain lion on iMac. Email appears on my iPhone but when I open mail on desktop the messages aren't there and take several minutes before they appear. Thoughts as to why this happens? Anyone else experiencing this too?

Why does it take so long in Mail to show an Inbox?

One of the few new features touted for Mail in Mavericks was increased speed.
But even a day later, after everything is fully updated and optimized and synced (as far as I can tell) it is horrendously slow going from Inbox to Inbox between accounts. I can click on one Inbox and wait 10-15 seconds before I see any mail in it.
Then I can go to another Inbox and the same thing happens there.
Then if I go back to the first Inbox it again takes 10-15 seconds to display the mail list.
What is going on? Anything I can fix, or is the new Mail just awful?

Yes, Mail in Mavericks really has gone downhill. I thought it was advertised as being faster. But it's actually horrendously slow going from inbox to inbox if you have multiple accounts. Plus all those hours of database rebuilding, etc. And counts not being updated. And reply indicators not syncing.
It just doesn't work right.
I sort of miss the UI, but I guess I'll stick with Airmail unless Apple fixes the Mail problems with a new release.
Other friends on FaceBook are reporting similar issues. I'm surprised this version of Mail got out of Beta.

If you are downloading at work more than likely your bandwith is being throttled by your company. If your using a Mac, download a little utility called "MenuMeter" It runs in the menu bar and will display your connection speed.If your on a windows machine similar utilities are available as well. Once you find out what your speed is.it'll be much easier to trouble shoot!

Why does it take a very long time for shows to post to VOD?

A lot of programs say they will be on demand the following day. This isn't true. Seems you have to wait a week or longer for shows to post. Why? Comcast would usually be by 4:00 PM the following day. When you miss something and want to catch up on it you have to wait, and then the next show is already being shown by the station. It's a pain. I know I can get a DVR but that costs more $$$. If you advertise your VOD to be current then be current.

Since the Verizon Forums are for users to help other users, I doubt you will get any definitive answer. We customers simply do not have access to any information on how Verizon handles VOD.
