Why does iTunes copy unwanted apps to my iPhone when syncing?

When ever I sync my iPhone with iTunes, it tries to copy apps that I don't want. They are not on my iPhone, but iTunes insists in trying to copy them over. I then get messages that i'm over my storage limit. Also, on the APPS tab, the "Automatically sync new apps" option is not selected.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am very frustrated with this. D:<

Anyways, I got my phone straightened out by syncing, deleteing apps, syncing, deleting apps, syncing, deleting apps, etc... untill it would sync without issues. two days, couple hours after work. Only thing that I can tell I lost were some song purchases. Those I just redownloaded.
I'll have to check next time if the apps are checked. I didn't check them (manually boxes) and I'm the only user on my computer.

"Setup your Iphone"
And I have 2 options:
1. Setup as new iphone
2. Restore from backup
I don't want either!!! I just want ot sync my phone. Why does itunes think this is a new phone? What do I do from here?

Why does iTunes copy the same applications over and over at each sync?

Everytime I sync my iPhone, I watch iTunes copy the same apps from the phone. Shouldn't it only do this if I added a new app? This causes syncs to take much longer than they should. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I've seen others mention this issue, yes. This should not be happening, however (I've never experienced it personally). Only newly downloaded apps or updated apps should sync. Performing a Restore (via iTunes) corrected the issue for one user.

Why does itunes and other media continue to play when i close the lid on my macbook pro 2011???

Hey, I am new to mac and still getting used to it (making the transition from windows), its amazing! Anyhow, I cannot figure out why my itunes and other media like youtube or a film on vlc player continues to play once the lid has been closed. I thought that when i close the lid the macbook should then sleep. It does everytime when there is nothing playing. The little white light on the bottom right hand corner of the book is on but music continues to play.
The sleep option always works. If I press the power button and choose the option sleep it does so etcc.
Is this normal and am I just being stupid or is there a problem??
I bought the laptop from ebay, its a macbook pro late 2011 17inch. I dont have apple support and might have to make a trip into London to the mac store however I was hoping someone can help me...

hey, thanks for the reply. I don't know to be perfectly honest. When I close the lid without any music playing it sleeps fine. How could I check?
So basically I pressed the power button and pressed sleep. The laptop turned off and the little white light turned on no problem. I did the same thing with closing the lid and it went to sleep no problem. (Can you confirm that when the little white light is on it means the laptop is sleeping)??.
I then had itunes playing and pressed the power button and when i pressed sleep the music paused then 6 seconds later it went to sleep. I then had itunes playing and closed the lid and the music kept on playing even though the white light was on.

Why does itunes only recognize my ipad and iphone as a camera?

I have follwed all of the tools in the support menu and my itunes account will only recoginze my iphone and ipad as a camera, It won't allow me to sync them because it keeps being recognized it as a camera.....any advice you could give me would be appreciated. I am out of options........and patience

Why can't I download apps onto my iphone when i have enough memory and my apple password is correct.

I have sucessfully downloaded apps on my iphone many times in the past. Now, when I select and try to install an app it begins to download, I put in my password and then everything reverts back to the start. I have lots of memory and even free apps won.t download. I've looked and read all the support manuals online and nothing helps.
Has anyone had this problem before and knows how to help. I would appreciate any advice.

Why does iTunes say my iPad is "over capacity" when it isn't?

Hi. I saw someone posted about there iPhone last night and added my question there, but since I've not had a response I will create a new question.
I went to sync my iPad yesterday and I got an error saying it was "over capacity." I checked online and saw many discussions about the Other folder (for lack of a better name), so checked the information on how to overcome this. None of the solutions helped so I did a Restore. The iPad set up again and I went to sync, but I get the same error. Not it claims I am 1.8 GB "over capacity." In reality, I am trying to sync about 7 GB of data on an iPad with over 13 GB of free space. I tried updating iTunes (done), checked for an update to the iPad (I have the latest version of the OS), and tried rebooting both the computer and the iPad. I still get the same error.
How can I get iTunes to sync my data?

Are you sure it's not iCloud that's "over capacity".
How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.

Why does my WD2GO Pro app keep shutting down when I'm trying to access a file?

Ive invested in a WD My Book Live 2TB network hard drive and the associated WD2GO Pro app for the ipad.
This is great for tiny files (1-2mb) but anything over 20mb make the app shut down.
Why is the ipad shutting down? Cant it show a PDF over a certain size?
I know I can open it in other programmes (PDF by corporate smalltalk) but WD2GO provides the facility to create a URL link to the hard drive, thus allowing me to email this link to clients / printers etc.
The silly thing is that if Im really quick I can send the link but if Im longer than about 4 seconds the app shuts down.
Frustrating isnt the word!
Hope someone somewhere out there has an idea. Just please dont say that the new Ipad solves this problem as Ill be (forced) into upgrading lol

Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left then open the Library folder then the Caches folder then the com.apple.safari folder. Move the Cache.db file (might say ApplicationCache.db) to the Trash.
Try Safari. If it crashes again, follow the instructions for uninstalling then reinstalling Flash > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Restart your Mac Try Safari.

HT1386 Why does iTunes reinstall all my photos every time I sync with my iDevice?

I store over 10000 photos on my ipad and iphone.
It doesn't usually happen, but lately, when I sync with my device via iTunes, it deletes all my photos and resync them back in.
Which dramatically increase my sync time from a few minutes to half an hour.
Does anyone know what might be the cause of it? And most important, how to fix this?

Why does iTunes forget my automatic backup and Wi-Fi Sync settings?

Every single time I hook up my iPad, the settings for Automaticlly Back Up and Sync with this device over Wi-Fi are unchecked.
I switch from "This Computer" to iCloud and turn Wi-Fi Sync back on and hit the SYNC button on the bottom right to apply the settings.
When I disconnect and reconnect the iPad, the settings are back how there were before; backup to This Computer and Wi-Fi Sync turned off.
I'm going to ignore everyone that suggests to Restore the device. That is unacceptable. There seems to be an issue in either the iPad or iTunes' files on the local computer.

Why does iTunes U site manager log me out when returning to collection manager?

So here's the problem ... kind of a weird thing has been happening lately with Site Manager. When I click on the feed of a collection to interact with the actual content (change the order, correct a typo etc.) and then click to return to collections manager, the site logs me out. When I log back in, it won't let me go back into the collection and gives an error message saying that the collection is unavailable because someone is already logged in to it. When I wait an hour or so, I can access the collection feed again but once I return to collections manager, I get logged out. I have tried this on different versions of Safari and in Lion with the same results. It is just in the last couple of weeks that this has been happening. Any ideas?

Updating iTunes may not be the reason at all. It could very well be the Support Team has fixed the problem, which i think is the case.
Also, I learned i should report EACH problem to iTunes U Support Team using its Report Form:

I used the Report Form a couple of months ago to report a different problem. One tech support person responsded and I have been emailing to that individual via email about a few more issues since then. This, however, is NOT a good practice. Reporting each problem using the report form will help the iTunes Support Team to prioritize the work based on urgency.

Saving apps on my iphone when syncing to a new PC?

The issue is that apps were bought on the phone, and synced with an older PC - Now gone!!
Now when trying to sync the phone to a new pc, where other apps, etc have been bought on that new pc, it wants to wipe the phone and replace with what's on the PC, thus losing the previously bought apps.
Can I backup/save the earlier apps, that currently reside on the phone, then sync to the new PC (wher other new apps, etc have been bought) and combine it ALL together, to be later synced as one, combining apps bought on the phone with new apps bought on the new pc?

I'd also like to know how to accomplish this as some of my current (and favourite) apps are no longer available to download from the store. Have them on my iphone, but not on the new PC. How can i move them across?
I've tried transferring purchases from iphone, but it will only transfer a few before stopping.

Why does itune delete my pdf when syncing?

I'm just got a ipad air 2, and I'm totally new to apple both software and hardware. One thing I don't understand is why does iTunes prompt to delete my existing pdf in my ipad which I download from my email when I sync up with itune where I had some other pdf? (under the ibook)
from a logical point of view my understanding of the word "sync" is to ensure both side (ipad and itune library) had the same data or files when there is a different in data/file. (correct me if i'm wrong)
pls advice on how to do a sync which ensure both side of data is same why syncing. as I travel around I don't always keep my doc in the itune computer.

Syncing is from a computer to a device, when you sync it takes what you've selected on the tab in iTunes and replaces what you've currently got in the app on your iPad with that selection.
You should be able to copy them over to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (though they aren't iTunes purchases that should copy PDFs and/or epubs in the iBooks app on your iPad) - and if your computer is a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its iBooks app to move them over to it. They should then show on the iPad's Books tab for selecting / syncing / keeping on the iPad.

Why does iTunes think my iPad is a new one?

When I connect my otherwise happy iPad to iTunes, iTunes says "This computer has previously been synced with an iPad or another iOS device" and wants me either to "set up as new iPad" or "restore from the backup of <my iPad name>". Of course it's just the same iPad I've connected, so why does iTunes not recognise it as such?
This happened before, and I know if I select "Restore from the backup of <my iPad name>", it deletes and restores all the apps and media content, but in the process I lose all data e.g. progress in games, data and configurations entered into apps etc.
This is iTunes 10.2.2.12 on Win 7 64-bit, iPad 16GB with iOS 4.3.1.
Any suggestions what I can do? Even if I have to restore from backup, is there a way I can prevent this happening again?

I'm having same problem! I tried the trick of unplugging right after the sync begins and the only thing my iPad does is give me a sync failure message and restarts itself. I plug ipad back in and get same message??? I've emailed iTunes support and they have not been able to help. I tried all the standard stuff like de-authorizing/athorizing, checked that my iPad iOS is the latest version (which it is), latest version of iTunes installed (even uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes). No matter what I try cannot get around this message. I too have tons of app settings/configurations that get lost if I go thru the restore option. I actually tried the restore option out of frustration, lost all of my configurations AND still get the same message - seems like my iPad is caught up in a loop no matter what I try. To make matters worse, my iTunes library got lost as all my songs are showing up with an '!' next to each song (meaning it cannot locate the file). I checked and they are truely missing so when I go to my purchased music all of my purchases show up (all 4000+ of them) however are all listed as 'Downloaded' in the right margin??? My true objective here is to be able to transfer my purchases on my iPad to my iTunes as my iPad is complete as far as all apps/recent purchases. HELP !!! Thanks
