Why does iWorks requires total resources on loading?

This problem is in both Pages and Numbers. Unless I let either be total user of resources on loading, it will hang up and go to a not responding error which requires a forced quit.
Being a multitasker, I often will start a program and then go and start another program while the first is loading. If either Pages or Numbers tries to load in background, they will fail to open. Other apps can be running in background and that normally will not affect an iWorks app from loading. iWorks insists it must be the active app when loading.
This seems rather unusual behavior that I don't remember seeing in other apps and there is probably no solution other than sit and wait until either loads before trying to do anything else.

Although your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for iWork '09, it is at the lower end. I have iWork '09 installed on my 1.8 GHz G5 iMac with 2 GB RAM & it is quite slow, especially compared to my 2.4 Intel iMac with 3 GB RAM or my 2.4 MacBook Pro with 4 GB RAM. Even they can be slow at times.
Comparing iWork & AppleWorks is like comparing apples & oranges. AppleWorks was written when RAM & HD space were at a premium as computers were very slow compared to now. My first Mac, an LC in 1992, was a 030 processor (I can't remember the speed) with a 40 MB HD & 4 MB RAM that I upped to 10 MB. ClarisWorks1 & 2 were quite fast. AppleWorks 6 is fast on all of my current Macs.

Very probably because many devices are sharing the same Internet pipe and you're getting only a portion of the total capacity.
I suggest that you obtain the free "SpeedTest" app and compare data rates at home and elsewhere.

Hi, Sk8erStan. I don't exactly know how/what your (or my) listener.bundle works/does, but for me, this became an issue when I downloaded the network scanning software "driver" for my Lexmark printer. Apparently this lets the Mac receive a request over wi-fi from the networked printer to set up, receive, and save a scan datafile. Essentially it lets the printer control the Mac. Which is OK and worked fine in my case .. EXCEPT every 5 or 10 minutes I get a pop-up alert asking me if I want to DENY or ALLOW my "listener bundle" app .. from listening. Really irritating and I have not yet figured out how to turn that off. If you have solved your problem, please post your solution and what you learned. Thanks.

This is probably not a problem with the iPad, but with the wi-fi. If your internet connection and/or wi-fi speeds are slow, then loading web pages will be slow. If I was you, I would research different kinds of wireless routers to find the fastest one in your price range, and also research different kinds of modems.

Why does it take 121 hours to load a movie on AppleTV? We are connected to Wifi with a good signal, but nothing seems to work well. We can play music for awhile, but then it just drops us. Tried apple support, not available 'til tomorrow. Purchased yesterday.
Actually we watched the movie yesterday, and now it has to load again. It's on the ipad and plays, no problem. Want to watch it on the tv. Any Thoughts?

Apple TV has no accessible storage, it will need to load each time. The time it takes is dependent on your network.
What is your current connection via speedtest.net
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)
The signal/network test on the device won't give a proper indication if there is a network issue. You will need to try ethernet to help rule that out, and it will also help to get a network report (istumbler, netstumbler or similar. It will show signal strength and noise as well as nearby networks)

Does Apple specifically not want those not alligned with pre-digital publishing to be able to sell books on iTunes? Perhaps there is something I'm missing here.

If you already have an ISBN for your eBook, you’ll be able to enter it during the publishing process. Do *not* use an ISBN for the print book edition.”
As per barnesandnoble.com's PubIt!: “You do NOT need an ISBN to sell your eBook through PubIt!. If you don’t have an ISBN, just tell us that you don’t have one by answering No when prompted. In that case, Barnes & Noble will assign an internal 13-digit identifier to your title for you when you submit the title to go on sale.”
Apple is the only of the "big three" eBook distributers that requires an ISBN and that is a bad call and reduces that "democratic" power of eBook publishing. I hope they change the policy soon. Anyone know who the best person to email about this issue would be?

Trying to Burn MP3 CD - Why Does it Require So Many CDs?

I imported a bunch of my daughter's CDs as MP3 files. When I was done, I created a playlist in iTunes and moved all the MP3 files into it. iTunes tells me that I have 304 songs in the playlist, taking up 696.8 Mb. I then tried to burn the entire playlist to CD, but in the course of the burn iTunes told me that the burn would span CDs. After inserting my 4th CD, I stopped the process.
I might be able to understand why this would take 2 CDs (even though I used a 700Mb CD), but why did it require so many more? More importantly, how do I set up iTunes so I can import around 600 Mb of MP3 songs onto only one CD? This would seem to me to be a pretty common process, but iTunes is giving me fits!
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I have read many threads about similar situations and the only thing I can suggest is buy "music pro cd-r's". My friend and I had the same problem and that solved it, hope it does for you too.

As far as I can fathom...Apple TV needs permanent Internet connection else it stops. Whilst it may not actively use the connection 100% of time whilst playing (although I do not know this for sure) as soon az the internet goes down so does the Home Sharing and as Apple TV is reliant on Home Sharing and willonly share content via Home Sharing then Apple TV needs permanent Internet.
Also cannot even turn on Apple TV unless it is connected to the network and this does not mean Wifi only it means Wifi with internet sharing turned on.
No one has been able to tell me how they run Apple TV without permanent internet connection.

Is this for a Mac? You posted in the Beta for Windows section, you might want to try the Beta for Mac pages instead and see if anyone there know a good fix. Is this just with Adobe's PDF reader, or with Preview too? A workaround could simply be switching to a different reader, if you simply cannot find what causes the crashes. A clean reinstall might do the trick, if you haven't done so already.

When the Apple Mail program (using Mavericks 10.9.1) is configured to "View:Organize by Conversation", it is necessary for the email subject line to be prefixed with "Re:" in order for the email from different senders to be grouped into the same conversation, even if the emails contain proper "In-Reply-To" header fields. Why does the program require this subject line prefix, versus just using the In-Reply-To field values to group conversations? Many automated systems that generate emails (e.g., web-based helpdesk systems) will send email with the proper In-Reply-To field values to associate emails for the same topic/case, but they do not use the "Re:" subject line prefix. This seems to be a defect with the design of the Mail program to require this prefix for the conversation grouping to work properly.
Does anyone know if there is legitimate rationale for this behavior? Does anyone know if there is a work-around for this problem (short of changing these other systems to prefix the subject line)?
