    Why does Mozilla Firefox use Google as their search engine if Google stores everything you search and track what you do online? I've got nothing against Firefox, I'm just wondering why.

    I just figured they wouldn't have since they don't track what people do. I figured they were against that.

    Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
    Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
    All these programs have free versions.
    Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • Why does Mozilla Firefox open to a previous session?

    Whenever I launch Mozilla Firefox, a session from a little more than a week ago opens up. Usually it opens up to my homepage. Now, it opens up with 8 tabs. They are: my Yahoo mail, my Gmail, 4 other Google sites, and an Amazon site.
    How can I put a stop to this?
    Thank you to any and everyone with a suggestion.

    It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Why does my Firefox continue to hang?

    I've really had it up to here with Firefox hanging/freezing. Just like many others have posted in the help forums, after leaving my browser open for a few days, Firefox begins to hang every 10-12 seconds, for a few seconds at time. It doesn't matter how few windows/tabs I have open -- I can have a single window open with no "history" (i.e. opening a link in a new window then closing every other window) and my memory usage is still up around 800M. When it hangs, the CPU shoots up to 50%.
    I'd like to make it clear I'm not an add-on fanatic, I like to run minimal. I've only installed the following extensions: AdBlock Plus, LogMeIn, Scrollbar Anywhere, 20-20 3D Viewer (with Quick Restart, Java Console and Java Quick Starter disabled). I've gone through and disabled EVERY PLUGIN to no avail. I'm running it right now with all plugins disabled and it's continuing to hang as I type this. I'm so, so sick of having to constantly restart Firefox to fix this issue. The only thing that looks suspect in my Troubleshooting Info is the amount of printer-related Modified Preferences, but I'm not sure why this would cause hanging only after being open for a few days. Thank you.

    Is it possible to start Firefox in Safe Mode, I do understand that the frequent crashes are disrupting and after a crash that Firefox will not open, you need to restart the computer.
    In about:config are there any changed about:config entries related to the crash report: browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash
    However in the meantime I will see what I can find.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    <b> To Enable SafeMode </b>
    *You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
    *''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
    If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
    Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

  • Why does Mozilla Firefox display white colour checkered in yellow?

    The browser displays white colours as checkered. And clearly it is not an issue of wrong backgound - checs change when I scroll a page up or down. I've tried reinstalling Firefox but nothing changed. What may cause the problem?

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers
    You can also try to disable color management.<br />
    You can set the pref gfx.color_management.mode to 0 on the about:config page to disable Color Management.<br />
    You need to close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.

  • Why does Mozilla Firefox have lots of cool Themes (full) but only a limited few work on my version of Firefox?

    Just want more themes, the cool ones,please. Is it possible?

    Themes are created by 3rd party developers, not by Firefox. Due to unfamiliarity with the new UI and a lot of dissatisfaction with the new UI which makes creating a full theme harder, a lot of developers haven't updated their themes for Firefox 29 and later versions, or have quit doing themes.

  • Why does Mozilla/Firefox support OS X 10.4.11 and Apple does not?

    I have a RELIABLE PowerMac B/W with a Sonnet G4 processor. I can not install Leopard/Snow Leopard because it seems that this software release requires an Intel processor. Being on a fixed income, I am unable to just go out and purchase a new Mac. As far as the new Safari System requirements, Safari 5.0.4 supports OS X 5.0 and above, Windows XP, Vista and 7. Windows XP has been around for quite a while, yet Apple will write code to support Windows XP but not for Mac OS X 10.4.11. Why is that?

    JPHP,
    Thank you for you input concerning my problem. I, too have an iBook G3. I can't get updated versions of Acrobat Reader or Flash, but that is Adobe. I just think Apple should know it product line's interest. If anything, they could just look at"Discussions to get an idea of what product is still alive by questions that are being asked. Apple has a reliable Product that is dependable and lasts. We all paid good money for our computers, treated it properly and that explains the longevity of our computers. So why do they not support their existing embedded products?
    Just out of curiosity, I know I need more RAM, but would you know if CPU speed 500Mhz would meet minimum requirements?

  • Why does System Preferences continue to crash under 10.7?

    I just installed 10.7 and I can't get System Preferences to stay open longer than a couple seconds. I've tried a restart and that didn't help. I'm running 'verify permissions' right now to see if that helps.
    Any ideas?

    Really more support for getting an answer than knowing how to fix it.
    This is happening to me as well. As soon as I try to use anything in System Prefs, the whole thing crashes and wants to send a note back to Apple.
    Very frustrating...

  • Why does Mozilla Firefox hang (Freeze) on startup?

    For the last few version of the Firefox browser I have noticed it hangs on start up for approximately thirteen to twenty five seconds. Upon reinstalling it seems to work fine but when I reinstall my old profile it begins again. Obviously something in my profile is causing this but I have deleted my cache, uninstalled applications or add-on's, etc. Is there something I am forgetting to check?

    * Try this.
    * Type in the address bar about:config.
    * Accept the warning.
    * In the page that appears, in the Filter box, type network.http.max-connections.
    * Change the value to 32 (which is probably set to 256 in your case).
    * Close the about:config page.
    * Restart the browser.
