My iphone shuts off randomly and the button is too sensitive. Like I don't even press the lock button and it shuts off. Also when my finger barely rubs over the lock button, it shuts off too. This happened after the 7.1 update. It's on the iphone 5. Someone help me. I just want to fix this. Maybe if it's possible I can disable the lock button.

The lock button does not turn OFF the iPhone. It will give you a screen with the option to turn OFF the iPhone. Possibly the battery is faulty. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple store for free battery diagnostic testing and evaluation.

  • I have the Iphone 5, and it shuts off randomly and the screen glitches. I have taken it into verizon and had it reset but the problem still continues. Is the only way to fix the problem to get a new phone?

I have the Iphone 5, and it shuts off randomly and the screen glitches. I have taken it into verizon and had it reset but the problem still continues. Is the only way to fix the problem to get a new phone? Also, why is it if I do need a new phone I can only get a refurbished one when I am paying insurance every month?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation.

  • Why does my iphone shut off??

Can anyone tell me why my iphone always shuts off by it self? Its starting to **** me off.

Well, I finally broke down after months of fighting this issue and sprung for a new battery for my two year old 3GS, along with professional install for $50. Interestingly, they ran a diagnostic, thinking my two year old battery was running UNDER voltage and that's why it was shutting off with 70-80% life still in it. Turns out it was OVER volting, not under. Go figure. New battery installed and I have run it through two drain cycles, streaming stuff to try to replicate the issue. Seems to be running like a new phone now. Isn't shutting off until it is truly drained, as it should. :)

  • Why is my ipod shutting off randomly?

i dont get why... i dropped it a while ago and it cracked but it just started to shut off randomly

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • Why does my iPad shut down randomly

Why does my iPad shut down randomly

Generally? it's like when a computer crashes. the operating system gets over whelmed and shuts down or reboots.
Sometimes it's not that big of a deal, other times it may be caused by an app with a glitch or error. Sometimes your iPad is fine, but the app has an error in it.
One thing to do is to do a reset. hold down the sleep and home button for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let it reboot. Often if there's any sort of glitch or 'oops' the reset and reboot will allow the iPad's memory to clear and resolve the issue.

  • When I try editing my photos, like cropping, why does my iPod shut off?

When I try cropping certain photos in my photo library, sometimes my iPod will get a gray screen with the loading symbol in the middle, then it will just shut off! I don't know why it does that and it gets very annoying. Please help, thank you.

Probably because you do not have the headphones plugged all the way in. Make sure the plastic on the headphone jack is flush with the body of the Nano.
Incidentally, you are not running iOS 1.x

  • Why does my ipod shut off on it's own?

  • Why does my iPhone shut off during restore?

My iPhone 4 randomly shut off one night while it was charging. Now while the phone is unplugged, the screen is black. If I plug it into the computer and hold the lock button and home button for 10 seconds (DFU mode) I get to a screen with a USB cable and a blue itunes logo and I can see the device in itunes. In itunes there is an option that says "Restore iPhone...". After I click "Restore iPhone..." it begins to restore normally, but once itunes says "Preparing iPhone for Restore" my iPhone screen goes blank and the restore ends with a message that says "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2001)." I've looked all over the internet for solutions, but I can't find any. So if anyone knows what's going on with it, please let me know. Thanks.

Im having this same issue with various errors (1611, 21). Did you find a solution or does anyone else know how to resolve this? Thanks!

  • Why does my G5 shut off for no reason?

My powerPC G5 with OS X 5.8 has been shutting down very abruptly and for no apparent reason.  I'll be working and 'poof' - off. It restarts fine with no mention of what just happened. It's done this occasioanally, but twice today.
I'm wondering what the first course of action is. I'm thinking running some sort of drive check/repair, but am not sure how.
I do have it plugged into a ups back up. One thing I've noticed is that when it does shut off there seems to be clicks or other sounds from other electronic devices around. It's slight and quick so I'm never quite sure what just happened. I don't know if the action my PowerPC G5 is taking is causing other electronic responces or if it is a power surge that is causing everything to respond and in the instance of my PowerPC G5 it just shuts off. Immediately and with no drawn out shut off.
I've not lost any data, but it is annoying and worrying.

One reason might be it is overheating.  I run the free version of iStat menus which lets me monitor hard drive temperatures (all I can do on my G4 - newer computers let you montor CPU).
What exact model G5 is this?  I think laptops may be particularly prone to overheating, especially if you put them on a oft surface and inhibit air flow.
Have you checked the crash logs to see if they say anything?

  • Why does my computer shut off when optimizing pix??

Just recently, when i tried to put photos and movies on my 30G iPod, the screen on my laptop shuts off. The computer does not shut down completely, whats going on? it also shuts off when i try to burn a cd now, HELP!

Your battery gauge needs to be recalibrated. The gauge "thinks" you have 20%, but the battery doesn't agree. You need to run the battery all the way down until the phone shuts off, then charge for 4 hours with the wall adapter. You may need to do this more than once if it is way off calibration.

  • Why does my MacBook shut off every time it is unplugged?

Every time that I unplug my MacBook it immediately shuts off. I have read similar stories but there is no black or red "x" on my battery icon. I have tried to take the battery out and put it back in but it didn't work. The light on the plug in is green and I'm not sure what is wrong. Any ideas?

If you are within an area whose Apple Store has a Genius bar or other product specialist on staff, or an independent authorized Apple Specialist retail, you could have the computer checked, a diagnostic. In those instances where you could take it to an Apple Store in the US or Canada, the diagnostic would be free, and you would need to set an appointment ahead of time, because they have a scheduled interval for helping people.
There is a chance the 'magsafe inboard' or what some call a 'DC-in board' may have failed. Sometimes when that happens, the power is not routed to where it is supposed to go; so a good Battery and good AC Adapter may not be enough.
An expert or specialist could diagnose this issue.
    Also, if you are able, willing, don't mind a gamble;
see the MB repair guides at http://ifixit.com online.
However I've read some DIY repairs have ended up a
'more expensive bargain' after user-induced damage.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Why does my mac shut off movies after period of time and I have to open itunes again to continue

When watching movies via HomeSharing ITunes will periodically shut off or log out requiring Itunes to be reopened before the movie can be resumed. What is the ix for this?
