Why does my Adobe Reader installation time out?

Why does my Adobe Reader installation time out at 64 percent on Windows XP?
I am currently running version 9.5.2.
Does anyone have a solution please.

Hi,
This "timeout at 64%" issue has been reported more than a few times  here.
You can try direct download from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
If you can dedicate some time and help to investigate the issue, here is what I would ask:
Before trying the link I have provided, can you please enable verbose MSI logging and try to install Reader the way you did originally - I assume that you used Adobe.com, right?
If it fails again at 64%, please find the latest MSIxxxxx.log file in the Temp folder and send it to me.
To enable Windows Installer logging
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223300
...open the registry with Regedit.exe and create the following path and keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
Reg_SZ: Logging
Value: voicewarmupx
The Temp folder on Windows XP is
C:\Documents and Settings\[YourUserName]\Local Settings\Temp

When I down load statements from some websites, the pdf freezes and I get a message that the website is not responding and that windows is checking for a solution for this problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times. I really like the Adobe Reader, but I need answers on why this is happening and how to fix it. AN AUTOMATIC UPDATE FROM 08/23/11 DOESN’T CUT IT!!

  • Why does my Adobe Reader DC stop working when I click scroll down options?

I used to use PDF Suite 2014 Standard to view pdf files.
However, tonight a message appeared when I attempted to open files saying ..."if the document does not load then the pdf viewer may not be able to display this type of document"
I went to the website provided to download Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
Although I was able to load pdf documents and fill in forms, the program repeatedly would crash whenever I attempted to click on scroll down options on forms.

Dear Aedesh, Thank you for your assistance.  I did all that you instructed below, regarding uninstalling, and using the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool.  I restarted my computer, then installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (for Windows 7, English and version: Reader DC 2015). I continue to have the problems: (1) When I attempt to use a scroll down option within a pdf form, the program stops working. (2) If I send the pdf to my iPhone, and I open the pdf, I receive the message "Please wait...if the message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your pdf viewer may not be able to display this type of document..." However, when I send pdf's created earlier than 4-28-15, I am able to open in my iPhone.I am able to open on my laptop the pdf's created after 4-28-15, but have the scroll option issue  (thank you in advance for your patience)Luisa

  • Adobe Reader Installer Grayed Out

    Hi there,
I've been working on trying to install Adobe Reader XI for the past 3-4 hours to no avail. No matter how many times I reinstall Flash to the latest version, restart my computer, or try installing in a different browser, I inevitably get this screen while trying to use the installer helper (With "Adobe Reader Installer" as the window title instead of "Adobe Flash Player Installer"):
    Imgur
It's been an incredibly frustrating 3-4 hours, and I really don't know what else to do. I don't understand why this basic plugin is so hard to install. Currently, I'm running Windows 7 Home edition. Any ideas?

This same problem is posted several times a day, and the answer is always the same: use the offline installers:
    Adobe Reader
Flash Player for Internet Exporer - ActiveX
Flash Player for Firefox - NPAPI

  • Why does my Fieldpoint OPC server time out?

I'm using Fieldpoint Explorer 3.01 with 1600 ethernet modules. I'm using Wellspring Solutions' Object Automation as an OPC client to read and write to I/O. Everything works fine on one computer running Win NT 4.0. Another computer, however, is running NT Server 4.0, and the OPC reads/writes from Object Automation work for exactly 1759 seconds (or approx. 121 minutes), and then the Fieldpoint Server "times out", and the only way to get it to work again is by shutting down and restarting Object Automation, assumedly this somehow reinitializes communication with the server. This is a repeatable error that occurs at exactly the same time, every time. This only happens with the National Instruments Fieldpoint OPC server (I'm
using several) on one of the machines. I tried reinstalling the Fieldpoint OPC Server several times to no avail. I've used other OPC clients (from OPTO22, or Rockwell, Matrikon, Kepware) and can't communicate until Object Automation is shutdown and restarted. Any help or ideas on how to further troubleshoot would be appreciated, thanks.

Aaron, attached are 3 log files generated in a test that I ran. The test used Object Automation to turn on and off a relay channel (OPC item: Common FP Res\FP-RLY-420 @4\Channel 1) every 10 seconds. I used the Matrikon OPC delegator with the OPTO22 Test Client (written by Rockwell) to monitor the channel at the same time (the delegator would NOT work with Object Automation directly). The OPCDelegatorOPTO22TestClient.txt file is the log file for this client. Basically, the test started around 13:07 and lasted the usual 121 minutes. Then the OPC writes stopped around 15:08, at which time I tried to manually read and write to the channel using the OPTO22 client, generating the errors towards the end of the logfile. Incidentally, I don't k
now what the errors at the beginning of the file are, but there are no noticable problems until after 121 minutes. I then tried to use the Kepware OPC test client with delegator to read and write to the channel but this also did not work, and the logfile OPCDelegatorKepwareTestClient.txt is for that test. The other logfile (OAlogfile.txt) is the logfile generated by OA, see the end of file for the error. They should all be text files, not sure why one of them is listed as binary below. Let me know if this helps or if there is anything else I can provide.

  • Does the Adobe Reader installer modify folder permissions at install time?

From the behavior I have observed, it does; however I would like to confirm this with someone. If so, is there a specific reason this is being done and what proccess is being used, for example does the installer remove all permissions from the folder then add permissions or does it remove only the users that are not needed then add new ones? Also there are two custom actions in the MSI that I am curious about, LockFilePermissions and LockRegPermissions. It appears these are the actions that are removing the default permissions. Can anyone provide any insight as to why this is needed?

    Anyone?

  • Why does my card reader not work on my iPad since upgrade?

I use my iPad mini to download photos from my camera when I'm on the road. In the summer I bought the "3 in 1 Card Reader Adapter Cable Camera Connection Kit, 3 Port Card Reader for iPad 4 and iPad Mini by Eurekka" and it worked wonderfully. I was able to download photos (jpg and RAW) directly to the iPad and off the camera, and once home it was a flawless upload to my iMac.
However, once I upgraded to iOS 7 last week I get a message saying the device is not supported. What gives? Will this be fixed or will Apple products only accept Apple accessories from now on?

No but I was just trying to find a way in to your help desk. I didn't find
your web page very helpful in this regard.

  • Why does my airport express keep cutting out?

Why does my airport express keep cutting out?

I have a 1st gen Airport Express and use it to stream music from my PC, iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch. My Airport Express is connected to a Teac UD-H01 DAC via an optical cable which is connected to an amp and speakers. I had no problems at all with this set up until I upgraded the Airport Express firmware to 7.6.3. The sound then started to drop out frequently. To cut a long story short after various testing, the problem had to be the Airport Express. I called Apple support but they were not much help and couldn't fix the problem and said they would speak to engineering and phone back. While I was waiting I decided to have another go to find the problem and opened the airport utility and saw that there was an option to downgrade the firmware. At this point I realised that the problems started about the same time that I upgraded the firmware to 7.6.3 but didn't think at the time that Apple would release a firmware that didn't work. Anyway I downgraded to 7.6.1 and hey presto, everything worked again. A couple of days ago I noticed that firmware 7.6.4 was available and thought I'd give it a go, not good - same problem as 7.6.3. I've downgraded to 7.6.1 again and all is well. Hope this helps.
