Why does my airport wifi icon now say "No Hardware installed" It has been working for ever
This message comes up when your Mac no longer recognizes that there is an operational AirPort card installed. This can be due to a number of reasons, including card or antenna cabling failure.
You can try either a PRAM or SMC reset. Which you choose will depend on the exact model of your Mac, but most likely, a visit to your local Apple Store is in order.

Hi..I have an AirPort Extreme base connected to my DSL Modem and has been working fine. But I recently bought another DSL modem along with the latest Airport Express. With this one however I can't get it to connect to the Internet. The light on the Express is flashing green though. Does it mean I have to re-set the settings on Airport Utility? I.e. the old settings haven't been cleared yet. Any suggestions?
Let's see if I can get this straight.
You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...

The wireless unit on the right of the diagram can be either of the newer Apple base stations.

When I turn on my Ipad3, I get a message saying that no icloudback-up has been performed for three weeks... when I click on OK, there is no response and I also cannot unlock my Ipad 3.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or quit the settings app and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -
I am transferring my 2009 27" iMac to a new 27" 768gb flash drvie with 32gb ram via wireless and it is taking 110 hours and has been on overnight. I have the thrunderbolt to firewired adapter but I could not get it to mount my
buffalo thunderbolt external even though it mounts my firewire Lacie 800 which is why I am doing it wirelessy I do not have 110 hours it is work related computer I run three companies.
can i plut in the thunderbolt and try it with the firewire adapter in the middle of migration and remove the ethernet cable it was only 50 hours when it was doing it wireleslly and now 110 with the ethernet cable I am going to try removing it at least.

I have checked and the Adobe Digital Editions is authorized. The library book doesn't expire for another 14 days. These have been the only two suggestions that I have found in other forums. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem only mine says Bad Device key after.
Not sure why someone has not answered this question yet...i am using windows 7 and this is how i always do it. Never had this problem before when purchasing a book.

I have lightroom 4 I've had it for years and it has imported my raw files from my CF card without issue . Now when I plug in my CF card to import new files it says import operations not performed and there are no image previews . When I continue by hitting "import" I get a pop up window that states "the files are not recognized by raw format support in Light Room"
Don't feel too bad. If the D4S has as many menus and custom functions as my Canon 5D Mark iii its easy to get messed up.
If you downloaded from the link I gave you it will be Lr 5.4. The link was just to show you when the D4S was supported. The newest version is 5.7.1 and can be downloaded here. Don't know your OS so you will have to pick Windows or Mac. Product updates
On my Mac I just run the downloaded installer program (its a full version and not an small update) and it installs the new version and erases the old version. If you are on Windows you will have to get help from a windows person. -

There should be no reason to contact anyone, simply correct the issue that was created by someone attempting to sign in multiple times with the incorrect password.
Go here and reset the Apple ID password. -
ILife 11 (iphoto 11) installed over a year ago with no issues. Have been creating Apple Books with no issues till now. iPhoto now will not create books, calenders or anything else. After I select "create" it does nothing. Used to work Ok. Program seems to stall and do nothing. I can still look at events and other picture files but it will now not create a "project" / "book" Anyone with a similar issue????

my macbook pro 15inch running on maverick when i try to click on wi-fi says no hardware installed please help i need wifi and and under network staus wi-fi is fail and under network airport is not connected can anybody help the wifi icon has a x and does not even let me turn it on
Have you attempted to reset the SMC? That would be the first step. Hold the left control, option, shift key and the power button for about 5 seconds and release. Then try to reboot. Might as well reset the PRAM as well. Hold command, option, P, R on start up until the machine restarts. If that doesnt' have any affect we'll have to dig deeper into a potential hardware failure.
If this method doesn't work, check the webcam that will tell the problem is on the iSight & WiFi cable. If your webcam is ok, then it'll be the WiFi card problem. Hope it can help ;-)

Why does my Airport Express say "self assigned IP address"? No IP address for the ethernet, and it is not connecting to my cable router any longer...
Some cable providers.....like mine, a well known company......seem to take anywhere from a few moments to sometimes up to 30 minutes to allow their equipment back at the cable company to fully reset and issue a new fresh connection.
So, it would not hurt to leave things powered down for 15-20 minutes or more when you perform the reset that John Galt suggests. -

Have you tried resetting the modem? Power it down and let it rest a moment, then power it back up again.
Also, some ISPs require physically detaching their cable from the modem for it to be fully reset. Literally unscrew it from the modem. Try that, in conjunction with powering it down.
Don't do anything with your Extreme, other than powering it down too, in the event the modem reset does not help. Reconfiguring it may be necessary but this is not justified quite yet. -

I have a 1st gen Airport Express and use it to stream music from my PC, iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch. My Airport Express is connected to a Teac UD-H01 DAC via an optical cable which is connected to an amp and speakers. I had no problems at all with this set up until I upgraded the Airport Express firmware to 7.6.3. The sound then started to drop out frequently. To cut a long story short after various testing, the problem had to be the Airport Express. I called Apple support but they were not much help and couldn't fix the problem and said they would speak to engineering and phone back. While I was waiting I decided to have another go to find the problem and opened the airport utility and saw that there was an option to downgrade the firmware. At this point I realised that the problems started about the same time that I upgraded the firmware to 7.6.3 but didn't think at the time that Apple would release a firmware that didn't work. Anyway I downgraded to 7.6.1 and hey presto, everything worked again. A couple of days ago I noticed that firmware 7.6.4 was available and thought I'd give it a go, not good - same problem as 7.6.3. I've downgraded to 7.6.1 again and all is well. Hope this helps.

Sync takes SO darn long now and when I sync, it does a BACKUP that is causing the sync process to take SO SO SO LONG!
Whats the deal? anyway to turn OFF the BACKUP option?I have half a dozen screens full of apps - some of which will definitely have to go as some sync operations - especially if there are apps being updated for me takes hours. Yesterday it got stuck during an app update over the wifi - and I had to do a restore - the restore took some time - which included restore from a backup from only a few days ago - the following sync has been running for a couple hours now and appears to be only 75% or so complete. rather annoying.

I am currently studying abroad in Italy and my imessage has been working with wifi up until now. I just wen to PAris for the weekend and when I came back it says that Imessage is waiting for activation. How do I fix this? Thanks!
If iMessage has become deactivated on your iPhone, which, apparently it has, the phone will need to send an SMS to activate it again. Therefore, you'll need a cellular connection.
