Why does my cq-62 laptop gives me warnings about High CPU usage?

I have a CQ61-420US Notebook with Nortons 360 installed. Recently I have been getting a warning pop-up from Nortons saying, I have High CPU usage. When I check the box I am taken to a Norton System performance page that indicates 90% CPU usage. Can anyone help?

Right click on the taskbar empty space and select "Start Task Manager", you can leave it running and minimize it, it will give you an animated graph in the taskbar you can watch.
Depending on what your are doing on the PC, this may or may not be a problem.
If you are not doing much on the PC when it uses 90% then there could be a problem.

• Why does my iPod keep on crashing when I run high memory apps?

Why does my iPod keep on crashing when I run high memory apps? I have a 32 gb 4th gen iPod Touch with only 11gb used, and I currently run 6.1.5 Everytime I run a high memory app, without fail it crashes. These apps include but are not limited to instagram, infinity blade, subway surfer, gmail, clear vision 3, dropbox, and even Safari has crashed on multiple occasions. I tried resetting the settings and that seemed to work for about a day but now I'm back at square one.

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

• Why does SCHDNEGACTION scheduler job have high CPU usage?

Hi,
In my embeded device(double CPU 1.5 G HZ ) SCHDNEGACTION scheduler job has 90% CPU usage. Why does the scheduler job have so high CPU usage? What is the job doing for?

Hi,
This job is not created by the scheduler. You will have to find out what component creates the job and what exactly it does to figure out why it is using high cpu and what would be the effects of disabling it (which would prevent it from running).
Hope this helps,
Ravi.

I have searched all over the web too to find any solutions regarding the unavoidable problem of Macs with Adobe's Flash Player. There are little improvements of reducing the high CPU during Flash use on a Mac through changing your main browser to Opera, Camino ... BUT it is still a problem which cannot be solved for now. The following URL is from Adobe's Bug Website and explains exactly what is wrong with Flash on a Mac:
Very High CPU usage and thus High Fan speed.
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-890
Here's another link to a similar problem in the Apple Discussions:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8920577
And finally the comparison of CPU usage between Mac and Windows which shows very clear that there's obviously something MAJOR not working and Adobe has to fix it!
http://arstechnica.com/software/news/2008/10/benchmarking-flash-player-10.ars
It is a shame that this problem is out for years and Adobe is NOT trying to fix it, or at least not as intense as they should. So this is the reason why many people all over the world have to live with their Mac running high fan and a hot CPU when just browsing the internet.

• Why does the highlight feature seem not to work about 1/2 the time in various ibooks. I'm trying to take notes and about 50 pages into a book the highlight feature stopped working.

I've long noted that the highlight feature in ibooks is clunky and fairly limited in it's note-taking features, but the last two books I've read I've had trouble getting the highlight feature to work at all. I click and drag over text and nothing happens. I try with command depressed and nothing happens. If I double click a bunch it will eventually highlight one word, but nothing more. What gives?
Also, not to be snarky, but why can't I seem to find a button that would read text to speach for me? How do blind people use this service, or illiterate, or dyslexic, or people like myself who can learn far more from hearing then from reading.
And why does the text of a book often render so that it's haf cut off of the page?

There is a button for speech within the iBooks menu. Edit > Speech. You might be better off buying Audiobooks. You can get them from the iTunes Store or Audible.com

• High CPU usage without any application running on the laptop

Hi ,
I saw some earlier posts as well but I am not sure if anything is helping me. I have a HP Pavilian Dv6. Its with me for now since 2009 or so. It was all running very well till last Nov - Dec 2013 timeframe. I had many bulky work done on the laptp like video cutting editing , along with audio edits , fairly well. I used it mostly for videos and no games though.
Since Nov - Dec 2014, all the videos started slowing down, extremely jerky, and not catching up with the audio. Slowly the problem became worse . After 10 mins of video it just stopped and hanged. It did it with every site and any format of video including videos on my C Drive. I earlier tried a lot of things, playing around with flash player thinking that's the culprit. Did not help. Browsers changed, Mozilla, internet explorer , Chrome, everything no change. Then till around last week, I tried tested, uninstalled a lot of programs, also did Microsoft system restore and seen , the CPU continously behaved reaching to its 100% peak and the videos getting shot down. Just no change. Last week , I got desperate and finally reformatted my hard drive and did a factory restore on the laptop. IT DID NOT HELP !! The laptop behaved really like a good puppy for a few days , Youtube and what not and again since yesterday it has been shot down ! No videos will run. What's more even a DVD video is not running , nothing on a browser a simple DVD player DVD play is not running. Jerky videos and hanging issues.
Everything boils dows to 100% CPU usage. Even if I am closing all my applications , it shows 'system' as the process using 90-100% CPU. Without any browser or even a notepad option open. There is also a prgram 'dwm' which eats up the next big slot of CPU.
I am really tired of this and not able to enjoy anything. Please suggest what could be the issue here and how can it be helped?

Just to add the laptop is HP Pavilian DV6 , model Dv6t - 1300.

• My laptop (win7 2ghz, 1gig) has 100% cpu usage with itunes installed (even when not running itunes) since the upgrade. i had to uninstall. tried installing but still the same problem. my daughter wants the new ipad, but this is a serious problem.

when itunes upgraded my laptop went to 100% cpu usage. only solution was uninstall. have tried itunes again as my daughter wants the new ipad. still same problem tho so not keen to spend £400 on new pad without pc support. anyone help? (ps been using ipod touches 1 and 2, been great source of pleasure for my two girls, but cant sync them, so using the little shuffles for music, syncing to an old version of itunes on an old netbook - had the sense to switch off upgrades when the new version went wrong)

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

• Why does my ipod touch only give me sound and no video when connected to tv

whenever I connect my ipod touch to my flat screen to play a movies or watch a music video saved on the ipod touch ... I get the audio .... sometimes it will show the video but most times its does not ... simply put ... Why? and how do i fix?

cor-el,
Thank you for the help. I followed your instructions and it worked in Safe Mode. I went through my Add-ons and disabled them one at a time until I found the culprit.
Additional question: If I set up Sync and run it for my desktop and laptop, then turn my add-on back on, will it continue to interfere? Or only when it tries to re-sync? I'm asking because I love the add-on that causing the trouble and will have a hard time letting it go.
Thanks again for the help.

• Why does my HP DV6 laptop randomly shut down and stop charging?

I believe I've asked this question before. In August 2011 I got a laptop:
HP DV6
Product #:
LW260UA#ABD
Processor
AMD A8-3500M APU
My problem is that my laptop always has to sit in a certain position of it is going to be able to charge. Is this due to the port where the laptop is charging being faulty and loose? Also when I unplug the charger the laptop shuts off automatically within 1 minute. I then have to plug the laptop up to the charger again for it to work. Basically, I need to ALWAYS have my laptop plugged in for it to work. I tried doing the battery test on the laptop, but it said it's fine and has no bad cells. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi melkouas,
Thank you for your inquiry, I will try my best to help.
I grasp that you are experiencing a charge issue. You have tested the battery and it is OK, but you must be connected to power for it to work.
I have located documents I believe will help. Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge
and Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 7).
Please let me know if you would like further assistance.

There is something going on here. mmm

• Why does this ring operation occasionally give an error?

I am using LabWindows/CVI, and I created a low-level ring acquisition. It works normally at first, but if I stop it and start a few times (does not always happen on the first stop / start cycle), then I get the error:
NON-FATAL RUN-TIME ERROR: "Dalsa.c", line 2716, col 13, thread id 0x000012A4: Function imgSessionCopyBuffer: (return value == -1074397014 [0xbff600aa]).
The requested buffer has been overwritten and is no longer available. It occurs on the second line of the following code:
(2715) imgGetAttribute(Sid, IMG_ATTR_LAST_VALID_BUFFER, &currentRingBufNum);
(2716) imgSessionCopyBuffer(Sid, currentRingBufNum, (uInt8*)pixel_address, FALSE);
I stop my acquisition by :
imgSessionAbort(Sid, &ringBufNum);
Then I unlock my ring buffer, dispose each element, and finally dispose of the buffer list. The next acquisition starts by creating a buffer list, creating and allocating each element, locking the buffer list, and configuring the session to use that buffer list. I am NOT closing the session or the interface, I only do that upon quitting my program. Why do I get this error??
Buffer creation code:
//Create a buffer list
imgCreateBufList(NUMRINGBUFFERS, &Bid);
//Find out how big the buffers should be in memory
imgGetAttribute(Sid, IMG_ATTR_BYTESPERPIXEL, &bytesPerPixel);
bufSize = AcqWinWidth * AcqWinHeight * bytesPerPixel;
//Create the ring buffer
for (i = 0; i < NUMRINGBUFFERS; i++)
//Create individual buffer elements
imgCreateBuffer(Sid, IMG_HOST_FRAME, bufSize, &ringBuffer[i]);
//Now tell the buffer list where these buffers are by populating them into the Buffer List Bid
imgSetBufferElement(Bid, i, IMG_BUFF_ADDRESS, (uInt32)ringBuffer[i]);
imgSetBufferElement(Bid, i, IMG_BUFF_SIZE, bufSize);
//If we are still filling the buffer, this configures the current buffer on the list to move to the next buffer
//If we are configuring the last buffer in the list, this buffer will now loop to the first element when it is filled
bufCmd = (i == (NUMRINGBUFFERS - 1)) ? IMG_CMD_LOOP : IMG_CMD_NEXT;
imgSetBufferElement(Bid, i, IMG_BUFF_COMMAND, bufCmd);
//Locks the buffers in the buffer list
imgMemLock(Bid);
//Configure the session to be a ring acquisition using our buffer list
imgSessionConfigure(Sid, Bid);
Buffer disposal code:
//Unlock the ring buffer memory
if (Bid) imgMemUnlock(Bid);
//Free the ring buffer memory
for (i = 0; i < NUMRINGBUFFERS; i++)
if (ringBuffer[i] != NULL)
imgDisposeBuffer(ringBuffer[i]);
ringBuffer[i] = NULL;
//Free the buffer list
if (Bid) imgDisposeBufList(Bid, FALSE);
Bid = 0;

I have made some progress on narrowing the error down, but it still remains a large problem. Error trapping allows me to avoid the necessity of rebooting the system. However, I must still close and re-open my LabWindows application in order to successfully acquire from a ring.
I have narrowed the problem down to the buffer index provided by "imgSessionStatus" : on the acquisition that throws an error, it returns "-1" as the current buffer index. Why is this??
I have modified my program so that I close both the session and the interface when I hit "Stop", and yet I'm still receiving this problem when I attempt to restart the ring acquisition after stopping. I have also started using "imgStopAcquisition" instead of "imgSessionAbort". What could I not be properly resetting after I free, dispose and close the buffers, buffer list, session and interface? Obviously the resource is being properly freed upon application closure, so I must be missing something ...
