Why does my G webserver run so slowly?

My computer has installed LabVIEW 6.i and Internet Tool Kit 1.0. For some reason, it has two Ethernet Adapters installed on it, one connect to Internet and the other connect to LAN in our lab. There are two diffrent IP addresses bounded with that two Adapters. When I start up http server of ITK1.0, it's fast to visit it's web page on web server, but it's very slow on other computer in the LAN or in Internet.
I enabled "UseDNS" in the http server configuration.

Here is what I suspect is happening: the http server will only respond on one IP address, and it would be the ip address for the adapter card connected to the internet. Your lab computer are likely having to connect through the internet to your http server rather than connecting to it directly through the lab LAN. All the addressing therefore needs to be resolved throught the network for the client machines to find the http server. You may be able to improve things slighty by not using the DNS. Try using the IP address in dot notation rather than another designation. If that improves things, you might also look into configuring things in the DNS Configuration options for Windows (Network properties for the TCP/IP protocol).

  • Why does Interpolate 1D.vi run so slowly?

Problem: I have a curve with 200k points (x,y) acquired by a DA card with an acquisition speed at 200k/s. The curve is nonlinear, and X is not monotonic. Now I'd like to get values of Y corresponding to another array X' with 10k points by Interpolate 1D.vi. The problem is that it will take around 10s to finish this Interpolation calculation. I wonder if there are anyways to speed up the Interpolation process, say finishe it within 1s. Any comments/suggestions are really appreciated. Thanks

There is an Interpolate 1D VI in the Mathematics Interpolation &
Extrapolation package that uses a table lookup method instead of the
    linear method. Here's a description:
"Performs one-dimensional interpolation using a selectable table-lookup method.
This VI accepts tabulated dependent and independent variable values
Y and X and provides interpolated values
yi corresponding to each xi location. This VI
finds each value of xi in X and uses the
relative location in X to find the interpolated value
yi at the same relative location in Y. X is monotonic specifies whether you know, a priori, that the
values in X are monotonically increasing with the index. If
X is monotonic is TRUE, the interpolation algorithm can avoid
sorting X and reordering Y accordingly."
I replaced the linear VI with this one and there is a large decrease in
performance (~250 times slower than the linear method). I'll bet this is what Alex is using.
Still want to see the code.

That was left there inadvertedly. Can't seem to find the edit button here...

Why does AAM Updates Notifier run so much? It seems to really be working my hard drive.

AAM updater launches automatically as you start the computer, so you can try preventing it from auto launch as per the operating system.
Though it is not recommended much. you can check it is Re: How to deinstall AAM Update Notifier
Moving it to download & install for resolution.

  • Why does my Mac Mini running on Mavericks so slow to start and load apps?

Why does my Mac Mini running on Mavericks take so long to start and load apps?

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." • Why does my iphone 4s run out of battery so quick?

Why does my iphone 4s run out of battery so quick?

What do you mean by 'quick'? If you mean a few hours then I think it is normal (it's normal for me: 4+ hours for me depending on what I use it for). If you play apps with really good graphics it will make the battery go quicker. If you don't use it for much, then the battery might have gone out-of-sync with the battery percentage it thinks it has (I am not sure if this happens with apple devices though)

  • Why does the iPad 2 run out of memory

Why does the iPad 2 run out of memory?

First ...read deggie's response. Makes sense - even a computer running a large amount of RAM can run short on memory depending upon the operation you are performing so sometimes you have to do what is available to "clear" the memory.
You can ...close apps and restart the iPad on occasion. You close apps by double tapping the home button to bring up your recent apps in the multitasking tray. Tap and hold down on any of the icons until they all begin to wiggle. Then tap the minus signs in the corner of the apps to close them. Close all of your apps in that area. Also take note of how many apps are down there. That may have something to do with why the iPad is running out of memory. Tap the home button twice to return to the home screen. Then restart your iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut off. To power up, hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If you do this once in a while, it may make a difference in how your iPad performs. In any event, it will not hurt anything.

  • Why is my Macbook pro running so slowly?

I've tried for the past week to try and figure out why my macbook pro has been running extremely slow recently (began about a week and a half ago). I have downloaded and run both Disk Doctor and Memory clean to try and free up memory and hard drive space, which hasn't helped. Next, I downloaded Bitdefender Virus Scanner thinking I may have accidentally downloaded some malware, but the scanner found nothing wrong. I'm honestly at a loss right now. Below is my EtreCheck, I don't really understand it but I'm hoping one of you can see where the problem lies. Thanks for any and all help you guys can do, college starts up in two days and I need my computer back to normal speed by then.
    Problem description:
My macbook pro recently started running extremely slowly. I’ve tried different ways of finding the problem but nothing has helped.

      Jan 16, 2015, 02:18:04 PM Self test - passed

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be a series of messages in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
    [Process completed]
The messages won't be spaced equally apart in time, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "[Process completed] to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the last message you saw. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Why is my 2009 macbook running soooooo slowly and how can I fix it?

My 2009 macbook pro is running slowly.  By slowly I mean in everything it does, it takes a long time loading (eg. turning on, opening apps, surfing the web, streaming videos, etc.)
I used EtreCheck to generate an overview of the state of my mac.  Below is a copy of EtreCheck's report, starting with a my description of the problem:
    Problem description:
My mac is running SOOOO slowly.  I think it might be a RAM problem, but a lot of the processes shown in the Activity Monitor under Memory are related kernel_task.  It looks like Google uses a bunch, as well as Window Server, loginwindow, https://itunes.apple.com, all of which (less Google) are also kernel_task.
    EtreCheck version: 2.1.6 (109)

  • Why is my macbook pro running so slowly all of a sudden?

Just recently my 13" Macbook Pro started to run very slowly. When I search something on google, the spinning wheel will pop up as my cursor and remain for about 30 seconds while I am unable to do or click on anything and if itunes is playing in the background then the song will stop abruptly. Everything eventually loads but its just a pain in the butt. Before this i was doing the exact same type of things with my computer and it handled them fine so i do not believe its an issue of RAM. THis happened to me once before and when I turned my computer back on it just got to the gray apple logo and would go no further, somehow my harddrive failed. Any information or help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
    Select the CPU tab.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Step 2
Launch the Console application in the same way as above, and select “kernel.log” from the file list. Post the dozen or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Do not post many repetitions of the same message.

  • Why does NiVisaServer.exe is running when Labview is running??

I am running two identical test setups for some system testing.  The PC configuration and test cases are same on both the setups. I am using  Labview version 8.5 . I observe the setup running with NiVisaServer.exe is slow as compared to the other setup. The same file is not running in the other setup.  My question is , does NiVisaServer.exe slow down the Labview execution?? Why does NiVisaServer.exe is not running in the other tester eventough both are identical??

More than likely it might have been accidentally set to start up when the PC starts. See attached screenshot for where this is configured in MAX.

  • Since updating to FF 5.0, I can no longer access my MAMP server (Mac/Apache/MySQL/PHP) Wordpress development site on my Localhost computer (MacBook Pro, OSX 10.6.4). Why not? It's running EXTREMELY SLOWLY when I try to access the pages on my site.

PROBLEM WITH LOCALHOST SITE LOADING VERY SLOWLY (IF AT ALL) AFTER I UPGRADED FIREFOX TO 5.0 FROM 3.6
I have been successfully running MAMP, a personal Apache server with MySQL, on my MacBook Pro using OSX 10.6.4. This is so I can create a Wordpress blog locally to later upload to my remote website.
Yesterday, I updated my Firefox browser from 3.6 to 5.0 (and added the following extensions: Better Privacy 1.51, Bloody Vikings! 0.5.3, Copy as HTML Link 2.0, Firebug 1.7.3, Firepicker 1.3.4, NoScript 2.1.1.2, and Ultimate Free Stock Photo Search Add-on 1.0.1, TypeGauge 0.5, and Zotero 2.1.8)
Now, I'm having trouble: At first, MySQL database server in MAMP wouldn't turn on at all. I restarted both Firefox and MAMP a few times. Finally, MySQL turned on and MAMP started to load into the browser. But it got only as far as the top bar on the MyPHP page, and would not load the rest of the page. Finally, pages do load, but I'm getting a "Waiting for localhost…" message looping at the lower left screen for a VERY LONG TIME (30-60 sec?) before my localhost web page appears (sometimes it says "Read localhost…").
But even when the localhost pages appears, it continues to run VERY SLOWLY when the browser tries to load the pages (although it runs a little less slowly when I use only the backend Wordpress administration pages). In short, it seems that something is stopping Firefox from accessing the MySQL database properly so that my site can show up as quickly as it did before.
Since this mess only happened after I upgraded to Firefox 5.0 and added the plugins, and nothing else has changed on my computer, it seems the Firefox 5.0 app and/or an extension is the culprit.
Can you advise me ASAP about what to do? If not, I'll have to downgrade to 4.0 or something. I've got deadlines to meet.
    Thank you.

  • Why is my mac mini running so slowly

My mac mini has been running great until yesterday when it started running very very slowly. Any program whether on the internet or on the mac mini i run takes 10 times as long to load , any keystroke i make is delayed in appearing on the screen.
I ran etrecheck which highlighted the system launch daemons. I am not sure what to do with this information or if this may even be the problem.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

If this started happening without your having made any changes and without a warning of low disk space, then it's likely that the startup drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

  • Why is my mac book running so slowly

why is my mac book running so slowly

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
    Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting.
