Why does my HD camera go offline (unusable) until I power-off for 5 minutes or more?
I have a MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011. I've had it for about a month.
After some use, the HD camera will go offline to all applications and doesn't show up in the USB tree:

Facetime reports: "There is no connected camera."
PhotoBooth reports: "There is no connected camera."
Evernote just Hangs when I try to create an iSight note but occasionally says: "Camera Off/Plug in a camera to take a snapshot."
It appears that after the 4th or 5th time that the camera initializes for use (regardless of application) the camera goes offline and disappears from the USB tree.
The thing is that if I power down my laptop for about 5 minutes or more the camera returns to normal working order. If I do an immediate restart, the camera will not come back.
It's almost as if the power from the USB Bus has to completely drain for the camera to re-initialize.
I've read many other threads and have tried resetting the SMC which have had no affect on the symptoms or the work-around.
The only work-around that I'm aware currently of is to power down for 5 minutes or more.

I have a MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011. I've had it for about a month.
Which os did it come with? As far as I know, the newer Macs do not come with 10.6.7. Either they come with Lion or the last version of Snow Leopard-10.6.8.
Have you contacted the camera manufacturer to confirms it's compatible with the os that is installed on your computer? Any drivers you need to download and install?

I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.8 a few weeks ago. It seemed to be running OK, so we upgraded another system also. Now both machine are, from time to time, stalling whatever application is running. Everything stops or runs veeeeeeerrrrrry slowly for several minutes even including bringing other windows to the front. The disk runs almost like it is swapping a lot. Then the system frees up and runs normally for a while. This is not a startup problem. I occurrs on systems that have been running for a day or two or more. It happens on an iMac and on a MacBookPro. Neither of them had this behavior before the 10.6.8 upgrade.

There are cache files and other system files that are created every time a user account is created. Sometimes these are corrupted in the OS and it really has no bearing on the specific application but it can lead to erratic behavior. Creating a new user recreates all these system files and thus it's almost like starting fresh. It's one step shy of re-installation of an OS. So because changing the user fixed the issue, then we have eliminated the fact that the application is causing the error and we know the OS is causing the error.

I wouldn't recommend it. This can lead to more problems with the OS down the road with other applications and depending on where the corruption lies it can lead to issues with OS upgrades or even installing new software. The files that are typically most critical to users are stored in the Applications folder or the Documents/Sites/Pictures folders. You can easily drag them over to a new user account. If you have email being backed up for a product like Thunderbird you can also bring over many of the Library items as well. -

The kit is firmly inserted in thhe iPad's dock ? You could also try a reset and see if it's recognised after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I haven't had problems using the kit with SD cards from Canon cameras . What capacity is the card, and it's an SD or SDHC card - if it's an SDXC card that's formatted as ExFAT then it won't be recognised -

What is your current iOS version. I believe iOS 5.1.1, released just a few days ago, addresses a camera issue. Even if it doesn't directly mention it in the update description, it may solve the problem. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

iCloud storage has nothing to do with remaining memory on the phone - only memory for backups and Photostream. The photo has to first be stored on the phone and copies sent to iCloud. If there is not enough available memory on the phone, the photo can't be taken.
To determine the remaining memory on the phone:
Settings > General > Usage > Storage
The Camera Roll is meant for temporary storage of photos, which should be imported to an app on your computer and deleted from Camera Roll. You can then sync back those photos which you want to keep on the phone.

Because something is wrong.
You will need to troubleshoot to find out what needs to be fixed.
One of these suggestions may resolve your trouble.
FaceTime (and other video) quality problems can be caused by problems at either end of the connection. Unless your video callers' FaceTime connections work properly with everyone else but you, both parities to the video call should consider these possibilities.
(1) Restart your iPad and test again. Sometimes a simple restart fixes things.
(2) Use a fast broadband internet connection for best possible FaceTime video.
Broadband speed matters at BOTH ends, so you use something like http://speedtest.net/ to test both ends of your video connections.
Speeds less than 300 Kbps (up and down) at both ends are unlikely to give best results.
(3) Try from a different wi-fi connection.
If the problem is ONLY at your current location, restarting your internet connection may help. Shut down your iPad or turn Airplane Mode "on". Then check your cable connections, restart your modem and wireless access point, reconnect iPad to the wi-fi, and test again.
If the problem remains but ONLY at your current location, there may be a problem with your internet service. Contact your ISP for help.
(4) Always use as much light as possible for best images (including video) from your iPad.

When I try to export photos from iPhoto, why does it truncate the title I have given the photo? For example, I have labeled it 2013RoxyCarousel. When saved to desktop, it reads 2013. The rest is omitted.
iPhoto 7.1.5.
I chose these settings:
Kind: JPEG
Quality: medium
Include title and keywords (checked)
Size: small
File name: use title

You probably typed an error that got accepted in your keyboard dictionary. To get rid of it, reset your keyboard dictionary. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary. This resets all the suggestions you’ve made to the dictionary.
To accept or reject dictionary suggestions:
To reject the suggested word, finish typing the word as you want it, then tap the suggestion to dismiss it before typing anything else. Each time you reject a suggestion for the same word, iPad becomes more likely to accept your word.
To use the suggested word, type a space, punctuation mark, or return character. -

I´m a CC member (PS and LR). Why does LR say it´s 28 days left on a trial for LR mobile? This should be included in my membership?
There is absolutely no difference between the installer for Lightroom 5.4 downloaded via the CC desktop app, or via the perpetual license update menu, or from the Adobe website. NONE.
This issue seems to be down to the fact that when you install Lr and 'activate' it with a serial number, that information is stored in your computers's file system and marks the copy as a perpetual-licensed install. Uninstalling Lr won't remove that record, as you can tell if you do an uninstall-reinstall (it will remember your license and fill it in for you).
To kick a copy of Lr into understanding that you're now a subscriber, you have to kill off the license record - where it lives is described here. -

Hello, is it normal that the charts and data in the monitor panel is 15 to 20 minutes old, and granularity is only 5 minutes? I'm trying to use the monitor page to debug and configure autoscaling, but this lag is making this really difficult.
