I'm downloading a movie and my remaining hours keep going up and then restarting and then keep going up, why?

I found on some non-Apple tech sites some interesting info. One guy was having the same exact issues and wrote a script to see what was going on between the Airport base station and the Airport Expresses. It appears that the two devices were having security verification issues and that is why the Airport Expresses get getting knocked offline. In other words, when they talk with each other they fail the security verification and the Airport Expresses go haywire.
So the solution is to turn off the security on both the Airport base station and the Airport Expresses through the Airport Utility. Then, on the Airport base station you check the option to create a closed network. In other words, your wi-fi network is now unprotected but it is not broadcasting to anyone that it is there. From then on, you will have to choose "other" on your laptops/iPads/iPhones/etc and type in your wi-fi network's name rather than just choosing your wi-fi network from a list of options.
I did this a few weeks back and I have had zero issues since the very moment I did the above steps. The network is 100% reliable and faster. No more rebooting. Is it a tad bit unprotected? Yes, but no one knows the network is there. If someone is smart enough to be looking for non-broadcasting wi-fi networks and finding yours, then they are sophisticated enough to defeat your normal security protocols anyway. Maybe if Apple ever decides to fix this problem, which appears they might not be interested in doing, then you could go back to normal security protocols. But until then, this works wonderfully. Give it a try and see.

My Iphone 4 keeps going blank. I have to reset it. The last time it wouldn't come back. Had to go to ATT store. They plugged it in to wall and it came back on. It's doing it more and more.

Hi. Thanks for your advice in advance! For the past 4 weeks, the volume of my 4s keeps going up on its own and then the volume screen doesn't disappear. It's really hard to manage texting/talking with this annoying issue. Has anyone had this same issue? Would apprecite some feedback. Thanks!

I had the same issue but on my iPhone 4S the volume keeps going down on its own and then goes on mute which really frustrates me. I can't believe you have the same problem.
@pogster Well,I already tried resetting all the settings and nothing changed.
I'm sure there is something wrong with the Hardware,software is not related to this issue.
I think something is repeatedly pressing the volume button and its going down or up.
A way to avoid this is to stop pressing the volume buttons from now on,thats what I did. Increase the volume from the screen not from the volume buttons and visit the closest Apple Store to help you with this.

I installed an app called texttones and after that my signal started weakening, I had a message come up about my hardware but I don't remember what it said exactly I don't want to have to reinstall it to read the message because after installing my signal bars went from 4 to 5 to 3 and below. Hi! My daughter's MacBook (10,4.11)runs perfectly...except for one problem, the display brightness won't stay on the brightest setting. I'm having a similar problem, when I wake my macbook or sometimes when I turn it on, the display is on full brightness even after I've set it to my liking. I'm having to reset the brightness on my macbook all the time because the full brightness is so bright it gives me a headache. I was just trying to figure out if there is a way for me the set my desired brightness once and not have to do it every time I turn the computer on.

Why does the export time keep going up?

I'm exporting a movie I made and it's about 54 minutes in length and when it first started to load it said about 350 minutes or more and now its been loading for well over an hour and a half and I saw it go down to like 315 minutes and now its going up to 329 as we speak. Is this normal? Thanks

Compression formats like H.264 are very CPU intensive to begin with and, depending on the content being converted at any given moment may, depending on your computer, be only processing say 12-15 frames per second. With a change is scenery, this figure may double or be halved at any instance in time. Since the estimated time to completing is constantly be recomputed and updated, this estimate can vary drastically. For instance, most files start off with a black slug period that processes very quickly but then runs into a more graphically complex scene with or without dramatice changes in vector motion. This greatly slows down the processing and you begin to see wide swings in these estimations. However, as the conversion compress the excursions on the "average" estimation become less varied and more accurate.

Why does my Firefox icon keep going to a default Windows one? I need to reinstall Firefox each time to get it back?

I have an icon for FF on my desktop, taskbar and start menu (I know.. overkill!). When I start my machine up in the morning the FF icon has been replaced with the blank Windows one (the one where is doesn't know what the file is) and to the only way to get the right icon showing is to reinstall the software. I have tried going into the properties and setting the icon to the right one but it never changes it.... Any ideas??

Why does Find My Friends keep going back to log-on screen in mid-use?

During use, Find My Friends quits and goes back to a log-on screen, which tells me I'm logged in, and tells me that I have passcode lock activated. The only way to get back into the app is to log in again. Then I use it for a few seconds and it goes back to that screen. Very frustrating.

Good. This means that, in your existing account, a setting is bad or .plist file is corrupt. As identifying the rascal may take time, my suggestion is to move data to the new account, must be with administrative privileges. As the contents of each account is unavailable to the other, there are two methods:
- if you have a backup on an external disk, as you should (if not, consider this seriously, do not count on good behavior of hard disks), make a last backup on the existing account, and restore in the other account; when ready, delete the old (buggy) account
- if not, save your settings unto a flash drive; this is a limited backup just to avoid putting back settings for Mail etc. I am satisfied with iBackup (grapefruit.ch), but there are other backup utilitites, Time Machine, for example; TM does not allow limited backup, it works if you have a large external disk. If backup disk is not available, move files to shared folder, which is visibile from both accounts, and from there to the new account.
May seem difficult, in fact it is not. You must just move data from one account to another. Now, take care to new apps you install or new functions you activate. When you notice something strange, that may be the cause of this behavior.

More experience leads me to believe the problem is with the new iMac. If I get the network going by turning AirPort Extreme power off, then on, I see a good signal at my iMac. Experience shows the network drops off after several hours. But yesterday I turned the iMac off, and the network remainded up (I could see it on my iPhone and iPad) throughout the night. That's the first time that has happened since I got the new iMac. Never had this issue with the old machine. I transferred all file to the new machine from a Time Machine backup that was up-to-date. Am working with Apple support. They had me do a re-boot of the AirPort and will call back tomorrow AM to learn it did not solve the problem, but turning off the iMac does. Darn.
