Why does my Indigo heat up?

as you can see, i have three clams in my posession. i notice the 300 mhz ones all run very cool and don't toast up my lap to a sweat when i use them but the indigo at only 66mhz faster does just that. is there any reasron for this and is it safe for the longevity if my indigo? i love it to death and don't want it to die on me without my knowledge. please help! should i get one of those laptop cooling plates? the ones that you put your laptop on and has fans?

you can check Jeremys CSM bundle at it gives you a temp reading. i have had my blueberry go up to 86F and thats nothing compared to todays laptop temps. what kind of hard drive do you have in it? the hard drive could cause it to heat up

  • Why does my phone heat up??

if i watch a movie on my phone streaming directly from youtube, my phone tremendously heats up within half an hour. It heats up almost as much as my laptop does while playing microsoft flight simulator x. The laptop has its fans and cooling systems, the phone doesn't, and i'm concerned here.
Is this a safety hazard? Will the phone catch fire if i keep watching movies for more than one hour? And won't this ruin my battery? I thought lithium batteries go bad if operated at high temperatures for extended periods. Please suggest. Shall i stop using my phone for watching youtube? It's a bit annoying having to power up the laptop and wait for minutes till it boots and gets ready, the phone is always alive, i don't switch it off, and youtube is just seconds away. really don't want to turn my laptop on for such basic stuff. That's the reason i purchased this smartphone, if i knew this before, i would have chosen a cheaper nokia than this nokia E7-00. Disappointed.

i've already had the USB connector broken once. The phone was still under warranty but nokia care refused free service claiming physical damage is treated as user abuse induced and not covered in the warranty. Showed them these forum threads, and the lady said she doesn't have official instructions from nokia about this being a design problem and she cannot repair it for free.. Now I cannot just throw away such an expensive device, m not that rich.. and I paid on my own to get it repaired
Interesting observation bbao. I don't play games on my phone or run other cpu intensive tasks on it. The things i use on my E7 are phone calls, sms, email, whatsapp, and the browser for watching youtube and other casual web surfing. I don't mind my phone not being able to cope with super cpu intensive tasks, i have a HP ELITEBOOK laptop with a core i5, dedicated discrete graphics acceleration, and 8GB of RAM for those and i don't expect a small mobile phone to perform like a 17 inch windows 7 laptop. But youtube, is so basic these days. Cheap asha phones play youtube, so why won't my once-flagship E7 do?
I'm a nokia fan for life, if u have read my pilot post here, u'd see i never said i would purchase a samsung, i would not, nothing beats nokia designing, but if i knew this was coming, i would buy a cheaper nokia phone, maybe an entry level asha, not the E7. When someone purchases a device like this, i guess it's reasonable to expect his device to do basic stuff like emails, web browsing, facebook and youtube. I don't want to run Oracle or MS SQL server on my phone, that's unreasonable. But youtube? Come on, it's such a basic thing these days, every phone can play youtube..
indeed i do keep my charger plugged in while i watch movies, or else if an emergency shows up and i need to leave right then, i wouldn't have a fullly charged device.. But within a while the charging LED shuts off, nokia battery monitor app says the battery is 100% charged, and then if i don't unplug the charger, my battery stays at 100% even after an hour of intense youtube. I do the same on my laptop too, don't unplug it after it's charged, i keep it plugged in, Windows7 throws a message saying 'Battery 100%, battery health 100%, charge:0.0, terminal voltage some 12 decimal something, battery health: excellent, plugged in, NOT CHARGING.'
so apparently, my laptop figures out when the battery is full, and cuts it out of the circuit to draw power directly from the wall. Doesn't my phone do the same? Doesn't it stop messing with the battery once it's fully charged? Do you think this overheating is harmful for the phone on the long run? Do u suggest i should unplug the charger, let the battery drain, charge it up again, and unplug when it's done charging? Won't this reduce battery life by dramatically increasing those 'cycle count' numbers?? Ironically, my laptop doesn't have this problem at all. The temperature doesn't rise much even if i keep streaming youtube for 3 hours. But this phone, it heats up so much that it's uncomfortable to even hold it, it almost burns my hands.
NOTE TO NOKIA:- your products are the best, but your 'nokia care' is the worst ever tech support service i've come across. Go to the apple genius bar, the engineers make you feel special and try their best to actually resolve the problem. Go to a nokia care point, the engineers act as if they are doing me a favor and i should be greatful to them.

  • Why does macbook pro heats up around the left side and CD spines wildly?

I am experience heat from under the body of the computer on the left side. And also when the CD is in the drive, it runs really fast and loud. Does anyone have any reasoning for these concerns of mine? Mainly I am concerned about the over heating of the computer near the left side.

    Hi,
I set my MBP up by transferring everything from my iMac (also an Intel Core Duo model). One piece of shareware, Net Monitor, didn't like something (partly, perhaps, the fact that it detected a single license key shared by two computers on the same network) and though it told me about this (duplicate license key) and allowed me to go on using it in demo mode, it ended up soaking up CPU. I didn't notice this right away, but I had the MacBook on my lap (and was wearing shorts) and after a while, the bottom got very hot. Then I noticed the CPU was pegged. Using the Apple "Activity Monitor" I was able to see which process was the culprit and kill it.
Anyway, a single run-away process like this can use up a lot of CPU and hence a lot of battery power. Use the Activity Monitor to check for such a process. There's a nice feature in Activity monitor, a floating CPU utilization bar. I keep it showing down in the lower right corner so I can notice if something like this happens again.

  • Why does my iphone 6 heats up so quickly?

why does my iphone 6 heats up so quickly?

Depending what apps you are using, the phone might get warmer than usual, for example playing games that are graphic intensive and use the processor power most of the time.

  • Why does my Macbook slow down every 4-5 seconds?

I am a big gamer nerd, and recently i have been moving over from x-box to computer.
I have recently noticed when i am playing high graphics games, or any game that takes a good amount of graphics, my computer seems to slow down alot every few seconds.
For Minecraft, i can play it on all the best settings and it will run perfectly fine for 3 seconds, then i get about 8 fps for one second and it repeats. It gets really annoying especially when it is in an intense moment, (or when it makes me fall into lava) This also becomes a big concern on games like Left 4 Dead, it makes these games (that my computer CLAIMS it can handle perfectly) almost unplayable.
This seems to become more apparent as my computer heats up.
Why does my computer do this? and Is there a way to make it stop?

Good that "big gamer nerds" are starting to use the Mac.  Not long ago, there were hardly any good games around.  Going backwards, yes, it's going to make the MBP run hotter.  It's using the max amount of everything running.
To really help you, we would need the exact model of MBP.  For example, if you have 15 or 17", you need to make sure you're running with the discrete video card (nvidia or AMD) instead of the integrated Intel version (which is good enough for TV viewing and web browsing).  Also, you need to make sure you maximize memory.  When I play a game (I only play Starcraft), I shut down all other programs, especially anything that runs in the background (like a twitter feed, though that really doesn't use too many resources).  You can use Activity Monitor (it's in your Utility folder) to see what's sucking resources on your computer.
Remember, the game companies want to sell as many games as possible.  So they give computer spects that will just barely run the game if you tweak every setting.  You want to be way over the minimum settings in processor speed, memory, disk space etc.
Minecraft has known framerate issues on the Mac port of the game.  It has nothing to do with you, your Mac, or anything, but the quality of code from the developer.

Sounds to me like you may have gotten a machine with hardware issues, but it's hard to say.  It will shut down if it gets too hot, but that's not a normal occurrence.  I have never seen a MacBook Pro shut down due to heat, even after lengthy 3D gaming sessions where the fans are running fast and the bottom of the machine is unpleasant to touch.
First thing I would try to do is reset the SMC.  If that doesn't help, erase the hard drive and reinstall the system from scratch, which you should always do with a used machine anyway.
If a fresh system doesn't help, you'll need to get it checked out by Apple.
Edit: Oh, and sig is absolutely right...  please don't post in all caps!  It's very irritating.

  • Why does my playlist get rearranged when burned??

Why does my playlist get totally rearranged when it is burned to a disc??

Depends on what you're doing. Processor intensive things generate more heat, such as graphics intensive games or videos.
Warm is normal, hot is not. If it's too hot to handle (literally) you need to make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out.

  • Why does my iphone need wifi to update

Why does my iphone need wifi to download and install new software update!?
While other iphones can do that with their cellular internet

This is your phone's operating temp range:
    Operating ambient temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
You exceed that range & you'll get that warning...you do nothing, & your phone will shut down to prevent damage. Easy to exceed that range while your phone is navigating & exposed to sun or another heat source.
    It is what it is.

why does watching just youtube videos causes my fanspeed to be very audible! im using a retina MBP 2012 june

Video use a lot of CPU/GPU resources and thus creates heat.  The fans speed up in order to dissipate the heat.  If you open Activity Monitor, it will show you the % of CPU that the video utilizes.  At high speeds, the fans are very much audible.
    ciao.
