Why does my internet cut out when i download anything? (Don't no anything about computer so please respond in idiot language )

So i've had my MacBook Air for 48 hours now and i must of restarted my home hub a million times just to get it to connect to the internet only to find myself doing it again a few moments later.....
I have never had this problem before with any other laptops so why now?
I have contacted my Internet Service Provider and they have done checks on my line and nothing appears to be wrong there......
I also contacted the Apple Reseller I bought the MBA from and they could only suggest waiting for an update..? (Which i dont think is plausable)
Please could someone help...
P.s I'm a computer idiot so no computer talk =)
P.p.s Its software 10.6.8 ?
Thanks ( I Hope)

My Macbook Air 2010 typically drops its WiFi connection when it goes to sleep. It will automatically reconnect but I have to wait now about 30 seconds to do so. This never used to be until I upgraded to Lion 10.7.2
In your case, that hint may do the trick.
Switch off wifi on the machine.
Run a permissions repair.
Then go on and delete the files mentioned below.
You will find the files on your system drive (not your home folder) As you are using Lion, the Library is hidden. You have to use "go to" - "go to folder" on finder to access them.
/library/preferences/com.apple.preferences.accounts.plist
/library/preferences/com.apple.preferences.sharing.plist
/library/preferences/SstemConfiguration/preferences.plist
/library/preferences/SstemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
If there are files in this folders with the same name but additional .orig at the end, delete them too.
Also move your wireless name on top of the "known networks" list.
Reboot the machine.
Join your wireless again.
Enjoy

Why does my email drop out when I access my group contacts list

    Hi Helen
I think (from the other forum you posted to previously) that you are asking how to send email to a group in your address book, or other group of email addresses? You will need a third party app to do this, a number of which are available from the App Store.
Our MailShot Pro app is unique, as it can turn addressbook groups into special contacts that you can use from any Mail-compatible app on your iPad (Such as Mail, Photos, Maps etc.) as though the ability to send to groups were built into your device.
You can find MailShot Pro here on the App Store

  • Why does Audition temporarily "cut-out" while recording?

I have a Bought and paid for registered version of AA3. When recording a voice over through my mixer everything works fine, but when recording for an extended period of time 5+ mins, the audio has dropouts. (Complete silence staggered, flange like effect, ect.) I have changed my sample rate to 512 samples on my "Direct sound input ports" in the AUDIO HARDWARE MANAGER, per adobe support faqs. My short term recording works fine still but my long term has not got much better at all. Before this change it was somewhat of a flangy sound as compared to the current "cut-out" i now get. My inputs are all set properly, i have a laptop exceptionally qualified for the program. I need to record multiple tracks for an extended period of time, 1-3 hrs. of a live recorded podast. So far I've had to do my vocal copy on my laptop seperately and edit it in after the fact. My musical set has o be recorded on another comp with AA2 on it. 3 should not give me hese kind of problems and I would really like to hav them taken care of due to the price of the program. I am running vista 64bit with sp2, md turion x dual-core mobile rm-72 2.10 Ghz, with 3G of ram. PLEASE HELP!!! I need this machine to work for recording demos and such, this is for a starting out company and I need a solution.

    Hi Durin,
Thanks for your quick reply. I am recording voice recordings from an audio cassette deck connected to ch1 and ch2 of the Konnekt 24D interface. I have only tried in Edit view with no effects as there is no mixing to be done at this time. I've tried at 44.1Hz and 48kHz.
Last night I did one more test in Audition, setting the buffer to its maximum size of 8192 samples, and in the morning found my 20 minute test had no drop-outs.
But your email made me realize that some of my tests yesterday were invalid because, after shutting down all the Startup programs in msconfig, I also did some troubleshooting of my laptop workstation power management settings and may not have set them back to "Never" kick in. So this morning I did a 48 minute test in Audition and got no dropouts. This tells me that the problem was actually resolved by my efforts to eliminate the resident programs. Thus, it has nothing to do with Audition. I was so tired after trying so many things, that I probably would never have realized were it not for your guidance, so - thank you.
I guess I will leave the buffer large since latency is not an issue for me.
As a suggestion - since this is such a common problem, why not have a troubleshooting checklist just for drop-outs, in the online help, user guide and knowledge base?

  • Internet cuts out when rtorrent started

I'm having a big problem with rtorrent and my internet connection.  I just moved into a new apartment with a new router and a different ISP.  I was having a problem getting the any connection for awhile.  I could connect to the router, check that the WAN connection was up, ping, do a traceroute, dns seemed operational.  Pretty much everything but actually load a page in any of my browsers on my main pc, the browsers on my laptop, or my roommate's computer.
After experimenting for awhile, I discovered that rtorrent was the culprit.  Whenever I start it, the connection immediately cuts out.  I'm thinking there are too many connections being made or something along those lines.  The problem is, I'm not sure what I need to change.  This same configuration worked at my last place, so I don't really know what the problem could be.  Any help?

So it's either rtorrent, or it's my router.  We already had them come out and replace our router with another of the same model.  Netgear CG814WG.  The port forwarding may have something to do with it too.  I've been trying things all week and I'm not sure.

I did a search and didn't seem to find much that helped.  The closest thing I could see was this:

It's from February and I'm not sure if it applies to my situation.  He didn't have an answer for what worked either.  I'll see if I can find something, either way, any help would be appreciated.
    Edit:
This may be what you were referring to.

However, my connection to my LAN remains strong after starting my client.  It's just my WAN that seems crippled.  I can even ping and such, just all of the pages in my browser time out afterwards.

  • Why does jitter graph smooth out when we add Codec to IP SLA

We use NetQos to monitor jitter, delay and MOS.  On a single tunnel, we have three IPSLA measurements, one with the defaults, one with ToS=184, and one with ToS=184 plus Codec=g711alaw.   The bona fide data traversing the link is time sensitive, but not VoIP.  I understand MOS can only be measured when applying a Codec, but that shouldn't change the jitter and delay statistics, yet it does.   The jitter graph on the IPSLA with Codec is much less voilatile than the jitter graph with just ToS.  In other words, when the Codec is applied to the IPSLA, the graph smooths out.   Anyone have a good explanation?  And should I use the MoS as a rough guide, even if I'm not flowing VoIP?     jc

I have two scripts that might be some good inspiration.  One reads virtual ECMP bundle details from EEM envvars while the other reads a config of ports from a file on flash (the format is listed in the script header).

  • Why does my internet explorer disconnect when looking at a string of pictures on facebook?

I have an HP Pavillion p7-1120 with Windows 7 OS. When I am on facebook and click on a picture on a post  I get a disconnect notice from IE when I attempt to scroll through the string of pictures. Any Ideas on how to solve this or should I just quit facebook?
Kind of unhappy about them anyway.

    Hi,
You could try resetting Internet Explorer as follows - be aware that this will remove Bookmarks and Saved Passwords etc.
Open windows Control Panel, open Internet Options, click the Advanced tab and then click the Reset button.  Click 'Yes' or 'Ok' to any further prompts required to complete the process.

  • Why does my volume cut out on my ipad 2?

The volume on my ipad 2 doesn't always work. When it stops the volume controls disappear .No matter what app im on (Netflix, YouTube, etc) the volume bar disappears on the app and when pressing the side volume buttons the volume bar either doesn't show up or says side effects instead of volume. Is there a solution to this problem?

    Hi Eskyeg,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The iPhone article linked below provides a lot of great troubleshooting steps that will resolve most audio issues on iOS devices, like the iPad sound issue that you described.
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

    I hope this helps.
