Why does my ipad get hot

My IPad gets hot.  I don't mean warm, I mean really, really warm on the front and the back.  You can feel the heat through the case I have it in.  Last night the battery was about dead the the IPad was so hot I took it out of the case trying to cool it off.  Is this normal?

No, and it may signal trouble.  It's the battery that gets hot, if it overheats, it can kill itself and the device with it.
If you have had it for a couple of years, time for a check up and maybe a new battery.  Cost about $100

MY iPad gets ver hot , could it be a faulty battery?

I've just joined the community today because my iPad (latest model, a Christmas 2012 present) has started to get really hot. I first noticed it on a relatively hot (for the UK) day last week when I'd left it charging, with its cover removed, on my bed. The mattress is memory foam, which may have been a contributory factor. In order to allow air circulation, I normally prop it up vertically without its cover when charging.
It got hot again about an hour ago, when I was simply browsing, so I looked for advice here. I found a few lengthy discussions on the subject, which appears to be fairly common, and followed advice to cut the brightness down to 50% and set auto-brightness to 'off'.
It is currently in use minus its protective cover and has cooled down already.  The cover's back panel has an apple-shaped cut-out, presumably for ventilation, but might it be better to use a cover that leaves the back exposed altogether?  I still have my 'L' plates on!

  • Why does my iPad get hot when it's not in use?

I keep my iPad 4 in a carrying case. It is set to lock at 2 minutes and to turn off when the case is closed. It gets really hot when I put it in the nylon computer case that is made to carry the iPad.

Does any apps are running the background? If yes, check them and close them. Are you using it under any high levels of temperature?

  • Why does my phone get hot at time's?

It doesn't happen every day, put there are times my phone gets hot even when I'm not using it then the battery drains fast and I have to charge it again.  It's not the battery area that gets hot.

There is no damage to my phone. This is the second Samsung Galaxy S5 that I have received.  The first one did the same thing, then went dead.  I only charge my phone at night when I go to bed and unplug it in the morning.  When it does get hot, for some unknown reason, I have to charge it again during the day just to have cell phone access.  It doesn't happen on a daily basis.  It's just concerning as to why the Samsung Galaxy S5 is doing this.  Teffanie M Stark

  • Why does my iPod get hot?

Why does my iPod touch battery get hot?

It is normal for the iPod to get warm while charging and during heavy use.  If you have a concern, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Have iPad 2 and also iPad. Why does old iPad get stronger wifi signal?

Why does  my new iPad 2 have a low wifi signal, while sitting next to first iPad that has strong wifi signals?  All settings are the same.

I don't think its any stronger or weeker I jus think the iPad 2's WiFi meter seems to be more accurate.
That's unlikely since the iOS and hardware in this area should be identical.
If you are having reception problems take your iPad2 to an Apple store for some testing.

  • Why does the battery get hot when I'm running a lot of apps?

The battery seems to get hot whenever I'm using more than like 4 apps. Is this normal? The iPod Touch is brand new as I just got it yesterday at the apple store. What seems to be causing this problem and the battery seems to be draining quick.

Depending on the Apps being used, some required much more output/work from your iPod's hardware, which in turn could bump up its overall temperature.  If it seems a little above the norm, I would suggest taking it into your local Apple store to see what they say.

  • Why is my iPad getting hot?

When I use my iPad for an extended amount of time it heats up pretty good.  Is this normal?  Thank You!

Yes, completely normal. That many pixels can generate a lot of heat. Unless it's too hot to hold, you should be fine.

  • HT1420 why does my ipad get ejected when I click on the menu arrow in the ipad button of itunes?

I only run itunes to backup my ipad just before letting it install a new os version, but every time, i try to use the down arrow on the ipad button it ejects my ipad.  isn't this weird?

    Hi yABmeiqzz,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the issue you are describing. If you are talking about the smaller button with an underlined triangle inside of the larger iPad button in iTunes, that is normal behavior; that is the Eject icon used on Mac computers and in other Apple software. • Why my iPad get hot after 30min use?

Why my iPad get hot after 30min use?

The iPad should not get hot after 30 minutes of use. The new iPad will get warmer that the other two iPads did, but it should never get hot.
If you are playing a HD graphic intense game or watching a HD movie it will get warmer than it does when you are just surfing the web or doing basic functions in word processing apps, or writing emails a but it should still never get hot.
Is your iPad brand new or has this been going on for a while?

  • Why does the iPad Mini not have music play count?

I bought an iPad Mini and also have a macbook. I had listened to various music on my iPad Mini the other day, however when I connected the iPad Mini to the Macbook and iTunes via the lightning connector to sync, it synced the ratings I gave the songs I listened to on the mini, but no play count, as if I had not listened to anything. I hope there is something I can do about this as I often look at my play count!!

It should work work but these kind of bugs pop up between updates, both hardware and software. Try closing all apps in the recently used list on the iPad. Double tap the Home button, tap and hold one of the icons at the bottom till they wiggle then tap the to close them. Tap the Home button to get back to the Home screen then hold the sleep button till you see the slide to power off message. Once it has powered down completely hold the Sleep button till the Apple icon appears.

    Does it even really matter...?
Many people including myself rely on playcounts to control smart playlist to manage large libraries. Smart playlists can be created to show your most or least played tracks and used more or less as your favorites or other uses. Along with playcounts the date is transferred so to keep a fresh list of music on my smaller iPods a smart playlist set to songs not played in the last month keeps some fresh tunes on it.
Playcounts are also used to manage Podcasts in iTunes to delete older episode. Bookmarks, which can also be effected by this, can mess up audiobooks, movies and podcast playback between different devices. So yes, it does matter.

  • Why does my iPad no longer display email messages?

My iPad suddenly stopped showing the body of emails, both for my iCloud account and for my Google mail account. I discovered that if I click to either reply or forward a message a truncated version of it appears with no attachments or graphics. I didn't change any settings or anything before it happened. What do I do to get the body of email messages to show up again?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Why does my ipad and appleTv work badly with youtube ?

Why does my ipad an apple tv work so badly with youtube, its frozen all the thime

Make sure the wifi signal is strong enough as the iPad uses twice the normal bandwidth (receiving youtube video and sending it to the Apple TV).
if it isn't strong enough, try to move your wifi router closer to the Apple TV room or get an additional router.

  • Why does my iPad disconnect from wi-fi?

why does my iPad intermitently disconnect from my home wireless network?

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
