Why does my iPad & iPhone 5 keep asking randomly for my password

Why am I asked for my apple password on my iPad & iPhone when I go into my calendar, settings & phone book?

Not only is that odd behavior on one device but to have it occurring on both devices at the same time seems really weird.
Have you tried signing out of your Apple ID on either or both devices, restart or reboot and sign in again?
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iDevice by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iDevice by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the device start up.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in again.

Your iPhone doesn't require as much power to charge as your iPad needs so there is a possibility that the charge could have a problem even though you were able to charge the phone. If you can try a different power adapter and still have no luck, then the only thing left - IMO - is to contact Apple support and see what they advise.

I'm not trying to be a nitpicker - but what you described is a hard reset and your post gave no indication that you tried a software restore - which I referenced in my post. That's why I suggested the restore.
Many times restoring the iPad to factory settings can help "revive" the device. If you have tried restoring according to the two support articles that I directed you to and still have no success, you are probably out of luck getting any further help on this site. That's all that you can try at this point at least AFAIK.

If you intend to keep using iCloud on your iPad, your best course of action would be to update your Apple ID/iCloud information so that you have a known password and it is associated with an active email address. You may find the following articles helpful:

That being said, try to reset the device:
*Device reset*
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

Iphone keeps asking me for my AppleID password

My iPhone keeps asking me for my AppleID password.
This usually happens after I wake the phone and/or start any app. The problem is intermittent (and too consistant that it has become very annoying!)
This started happening about 1.5 weeks ago.
I called into Apple support and they don't have any idea of how to fix it other than me backing up my phone and performing a brand new restore. I haven't done that yet as it seems to be a brute force approach (and lengthy timewise at that).
From what I can remember, I purchased a song from my iPhone using the iTunes store. Ever since then, it has started asking me for my password for my AppleID. If I enter the password and click OK, everything is fine, but after a few moments, it will ask me for my password again. Also, if I hit Cancel, everything is fine, and again, it will ask me for my AppleID password.
I have the lastest build/version of iOS 5.0.1 installed. The password entered IS correct. I am able to purchase music/movies/tv shows from my AppleTV with the same AppleID and password. I have verified on my iPhone under settings, Itunes that my AppleID is correct as well.
Anybody else getting this and/or have a solution?

Could be a few things...Some things to check:
-Do you have pending downloads in the itunes store? Go to ITunes Store > More > Downloads
-Are you signed into the correct Apple ID in the store? Go to Settings > Store and check the Apple ID. It may be a good idea to just sign out (by tapping on the apple ID and choosing sign out) and sign back in even if you are.
-Other things that use your Apple ID that you might check: App Store, Facetime, iMessage, iCould, Game Center

Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.

Thanks for your reply. Having read through relevant topics it suggests that if I sync my iphone with the correct account on my pc it should use that one thereafter. i will try both.

I'm trying to restore a new ipod but it keeps asking me for the passwords of itunes accounts that are not mine.

It is trying to restore my new ipod from the backup cloud, but it keeps asking me for the passwords of three different itunes accounts, two i know are my friends accounts and I don;t even know whoose the third is. I must have some of their music on my library or something, but it won't backup without these passwords it seems. Is there a way to get around this? I have the music in my Itunes library and can listen to it all I want and burn it on cds but I cant get it to go on my ipod without their passwords. If you have music that was purchased on different iTunes accounts than the one you use, then you must provide the password, otherwise the tunes are not considered yours. You can turn off iCloud and just use the usual USB sync method. But I wonder whether you'll have the same problem?
